Suffice to say that the studio knows platformers really well as they've made some of the best ones of many console generations. Their most famous franchise has to be Shantae. Shantae features a hair-whipping genie who serves as the protector of a town filled with hilarious and strange characters. The town is always being attacked by pirates or some other force and it's up to Shantae to restore order. The series used to be limited to Nintendo's systems but now it's finally available on other platforms.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is the latest adventure which launched on December 20, 2016. Since then, it has received a lot of content including new modes and missions. Today, more details about its final story expansion called Friends to the End were revealed. Friends to the End focuses on Shantae's friends as they try to rescue her from certain doom. When Shantae falls prey to dark magic, it's up to Sky, Bolo and Rottytops to save her from a Nightmare Realm of her own creation. Players must conquer remixed locations using Bolo's grapple claw, Sky's egg toss, and Rottytops' brain munching to beat enemies and solve puzzles.

Shantae: Half-Genie is currently available on Xbox One, PC, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and a variety of other platforms. The Friends to the End expansion should launch soon because WayForward's YouTube channel says it's already here. However, we weren't able to find it on any store. We'll keep you posted as soon as we can confirm an official launch date.

Update 12/7/17: WayForward Technologies sent us a press release in which they said that Friends to the End will launch on December 12, 2017 for Xbox One and other platforms. It will cost $7.99 for everyone. However, this isn't the last piece of content Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will receive. Another expansion called "Ninja, Beach and Officer" will arrive in early 2018, but it doesn't continue the main storyline. Apart from that, an Ultimate Edition of the game will also debut next year.
