PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) crosses 30 million players on Xbox One, PC

The game has been breaking records ever since it came out and even managed to pass a million players in the first 48 hours on Xbox One. We know that the game has sold over 20 million copies on PC but we didn't have any idea what the total player count across all platforms was. Luckily, the developer issued the following statement to the press detailing the success of the game.

2017 has been a phenomenal year for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. With over 30 million players globally across PC platforms and the Xbox Game Preview program, we owe the success we've experienced this year to the community, whose passion has inspired all of us here at PUBG Corp. to make the very best game we can. We'll continue to fine tune the Battle Royale experience and will introduce additional in-game content, including new crates, to become available in early 2018.

It's great to see the game doing so well. Even though PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds needs a lot of work on both platforms, the title is still the best battle royale experience out there. Hopefully PUBG Corp. will introduce more patches soon so that it irons out the performance issues at least.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with the help of community feedback. Starting with absolutely nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the only one alive. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a surprisingly realistic and high-tension title set on a massive island. Be sure to check out the game if you like competitive multiplayer experiences.

  • I believe last time it was reported that PC hit 28 million players. We know Xbox had over a million on 48 hours after launch, so Xbox between 1-2 million and more PC players. Pretty awesome to see a preview game killing it. I haven't bought it yet, but will once they polish it up a bit more.
  • Saw a guy playing it on Xbox at the local Microsoft Store get a chicken dinner yesterday
  • Got it on Xbox and I know it's still in preview but it shows. Game crashes, glitches and what not. Fun game though so I hope they iron those out soon enough! :)
  • One crash and good fun after at least 50 rounds...
  • Is this available on my Windows 95 computer?
  • Yes it is, you can also get it on Gameboy
  • Don't be that guy...
  • Proof that XBOX One and Windows 10 combined are a pretty healthy game platform.
  • Where is the proof?
  • Any game platform that can sport 30 million active players for a Beta game, proves it has a healthy user base.
That's a huge incentive for thirth party developers to support that platform. Gaming alone will keep Windows 10 and XBOX One (and thus Microsoft) a relevant consumer company!
