Red Dead Redemption 2: Launch date, preorder details, and more

A few days ago, the Microsoft Store leaked the preorder bonuses for Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One. Those who preorder the game get access to "The War Horse", "The Outlaw Survival Kit", "Cash Bonus for Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode", and "Bonus $500,000 to spend immediately in Grand Theft Auto Online". However, if you purchase the game before July 31, 2018, you can get an exclusive "Treasure Map for Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode".

While these perks are great for the $59.99 base version, what do the $79.99 Special Edition or $99.99 Ultimate Edition have to offer? Luckily, Rockstar Games provided a detailed description of all the possible bundles today.

Unlike the standard edition, Red Dead Redemption 2: Special Edition gives you access to "Bonus $1,000,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online". It also come with additional story content like the "Bank Robbery Mission and Gang Hideout", "Dappled Black Thoroughbred Horse", "Talisman and Medallion Gameplay Bonuses", "Gameplay Boosts", "Cash Bonuses", "Discounts", "Free Access to Additional Weapons", and the "Nuevo Paraiso Gunslinger Outfit".

The Special Edition's weapons include the "Volcanic Pistol", "Pump-Action Shotgun" and "Lancaster Varmint Rifle". These items are available free of charge from Gunsmiths in the game's single-player campaign.

The Ultimate Edition gives you even more coveted items. Aside from goods you can use in Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer component, you get "Bonus $2,000,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online". The online benefits include "Bonus Outfits", "Black Chestnut Thoroughbred Horse", "Free Access to the Survivor Camp Theme", "Free Access to Additional Weapons", and "Rank Bonuses". Note that only the Ultimate Edition provides multiplayer perks. Even the Special Edition only offers Story Mode enhancements.

The Ultimate Edition's added weapons also include the Volcanic Pistol, Pump-Action Shotgun, and Lancaster Varmint Rifle, but you can also get these items for free from Gunsmiths in the online mode.

Lastly, the Red Dead Redemption 2: Collector's Box, which is available exclusively from select retailers and the Rockstar Warehouse, features a curated assortment of outlaw essentials all packaged in a thick metal tithing box. The $99.99 box doesn't come with a copy of the game but it includes an antique-looking "Lock and Key", "Collectible Challenge Coin", "Double-Sided Jigsaw Puzzle", "Six Shooter Bandana", "Physical Treasure Map", "Pin Set", "Playing Cards", "Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalog", and "Cigarette Cards".

Red Dead Redemption 2 tells a personal story. After a robbery goes wrong in the town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

Red Dead Redemption 2 should launch on October 26 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems. We'll keep you posted as soon as the developer shares actual gameplay. It's unclear what the resolution or frame rate will be on Xbox One X, but we do know that the game is getting enhanced for the console.
