Yes, I already know what you're thinking. "Wait, what? The Resident Evil 3 remake released all the way back in April!" Yes, that's very true. At the time, however, the global pandemic was beginning, and Capcom wasn't able to ship anything due to supply lines being overwhelmed. Now that shipping lanes have smoothed out a bit, it became possible. Capcom reached out and asked if we were interested in looking at the Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition.

I've put together a gallery of unboxing photos, as well as some thoughts as to whether this is a good deal for fans, assuming you can still find one.

Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition What you get

  • A copy of Resident Evil 3
  • An 11-inch statue of protagonist Jill Valentine
  • A collector's book containing concept art and notes for Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance
  • A map of Raccoon City
  • A voucher for the digital soundtracks for Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance

You can see some photos of everything included in the gallery below.

Resident Evil 3 Collector's Edition Impressions

The statue of Jill Valentine is the highlight here. It's well-crafted with great attention to detail and includes a nice stand. The collector's file book with concept art and notes is also really lovely, and it's a neat take on including a concept art book for fans to enjoy. I am somewhat surprised a steelbook case wasn't included, but this isn't a dealbreaker. This collector's edition was available for $179.99, which is a reasonable price if you're a huge Resident Evil fan.

Unfortunately, good luck finding it around that price. It goes without saying that it's now extremely difficult to find. Unless you can spot a good deal somewhere around the original price, I can't recommend grabbing one from a third-party seller for two or three times what it originally went for.

If you haven't played Resident Evil 3 yet, you can check out my review right here. In it, I wrote that "While a couple of things could've been tweaked to provide a longer experience, Capcom provides a fantastic survival horror remake that carefully balances the action with the terror."

If you're interested in more Resident Evil, the next survival-horror title from Capcom is Resident Evil Village. It's a next-generation game coming to Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a release date of sometime in 2021.
