Send a personalised carol to friends with Microsoft and give an app this Christmas

Fancy sending a personalised holiday greeting this year? Microsoft is providing you the means to do so with a special carol, dedicated to the person of your choice. With Jingle Bells or Silent Night to choose from, you're also able to pick a free app to bundle with the merry gift and everything will be taken care of for you. All you're left with is a link to share and you're done.

The interactive web page lets you provide your name (you can upload a mug shot), the recipient, what message you'd like to send and the entered data will then be rendered as a festive video. It's super cheesy, but rather awesome at the same time. If you'd like to see an example, check out this little treat from the WPC team.

Microsoft Personalised Carol

Be sure to hit "Send it!" to share the greeting you create with others, as well as the link for them to create their own. Pretty cool.

  • I am surprised, no comments.
  • Well now there are... :) This is a nice idea, I'm not sure how many people will actually use it but nice nonetheless.
  • Me too I just sent a video to my girl its pretty cool i only wished she could of watched the video I made on her 920 had to watch it on the pc.
  • Awful. The carolers are awful, wouldn't send it, couldn't even bear to watch it. Maybe send it to someone I don't like?
  • I agree. This was not good at all.
  • How.... odd.
  • I noticed some of the apps to choose from are paid apps. I'm guessing they won't be free for the person receiving it :(
  • I think these are Windows 8, not Windows PHONE apps.  I saw Cocktail Flow and thought I'd send that to my new Windows Phone friends.  When I clicked "Learn More" it opened up the Windows Store on my laptop.  Cocktail Flow is free there.
  • Temple Run 2 just hit the store but it'll be more ppl on later lol.
  • Why the video can't be played on my phone? What format are they using? Flash?
  • Just did 2. Cool!
  • I hope we could do this everyday for birthdays and other occasions not just Christmas. We could do it with WP too.
  • Horrible. Created it and immediately shut it down!
  • Wow. Awful. (in a disturbingly good way I guess...)
