What you need to know

  • Flying Wild Hog, the company behind the Shadow Warrior series, revealed Evil West at The Game Awards Thursday.
  • Evil West is set to release across platforms in 2021.
  • Become a Wild West superhero and defeat vampires.

Flying Wild Hog, the Polish developers behind the cult Shadow Warrior series, revealed the first official look at Evil West, its new IP that's set to release in 2021.

The Wild West-inspired singleplayer or co-op adventure has players defeat vampires across the frontier. You play Jesse Rentier, one of the last living agents from a top-secret vampire hunting organization. The official website says that you're then tasked with saving the United States! (exclamation mark included).

Based on the trailer, the game looks to be high-action and bloody — generally what Flying Wild Hog was known for with its Shadow Warrior series. Can also probably expect some mature language and themes as well. Players can hunt vampires solo or with a friend, although it's unclear if those will be separate modes. The game will be narratively-driven and as you play you can upgrade your weapons and gear.

The game will be out across platforms — PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 — in 2021. Preorders aren't available just yet, but you can wishlist the game on your platform of choice.

The studio is still also working on Shadow Warrior 3, which is set to be released in 2021 on PCs. It's a sequel to the second game, but has been described as an upgraded version of the 2013 reboot. Publisher Devolver Digital revealed footage during its not-E3 event this year. Looks like 2021 is going to be a big year for Flying Wild Hog — assuming there aren't any delays like we've seen in 2020.
