Spoticast picks up offline mode, Chromecast Audio multi-room support and more

Spoticast will now let you take your tracks offline, thanks to its latest update. The universal Spotify alternative for Windows 10 and Xbox One has snagged a new offline mode, along with support for Chromecast's multi-room audio.

Alongside the other changes, Xbox One users should also see improved background audio. Here's the official look at what you can expect in this update:

  • Offline Mode
  • Chromecast Audio multi-room support
  • Xbox One - Background audio improved

Overall, not too shabby. If you already use Spoticast, you'll want to make sure you're updated to version 2.0 in order to see these features. If you're new to Spoticast, you can check out or hands-on for more, or try the app now at the Windows Store.

  • Hoping that Netflix offline comes to Windows 10 as I could really use that on my Surface Pro 4 and 950.
  • Agreed. I was so cheesed to see the typical Google Play and App Store logos only
  • Also to xbox one too lol
  • Is this App pretty good?
  • So is this now finally pulling the actual Spotify music data? Or is it still using youtube as it's backend?
  • Still uses YouTube. This has 0 to do with Spotify besides just pulling data from your playlists from Spotify. This might as well just be made into a YouTube music player as that's all it is.
  • Thanks for the info. I was about to try out the app, but I'll keep holding onto hope that Spotify will release a good app on Windows one day. Probably not happening...
  • Well they have been adding UWP features to their official desktop app for a while now btw ;). It has the new media notifications for instance, and I could swear I've seen it integrate properly with the notification system too.
  • Can't say I've seen Spotify in the n otifications area or noticed any UWP features. If we're talking about the same thing, the new media notifications for when a new track or album are released have nothing to do with UWP. That's just their server sending you notifications from their server in their program.
  • media notifications I mean spotify showing the album art and info on the lockscreen and in the pop-over when you change the volume with hardware keys.
  • Can't say I've noticed the lockscreen info, but it did start showing in overlays after I set it as my default music player.
  • +1 For the update Webrox!
    -1 it doesn't startup now =/
  • Update: I reinstall it and works fine.
  • Anyone knows if this app woks with connected standby and if the app is any good? I have a Surface and using Spotify with my screen turned off is a bit of a struggle.
  • I think this app is gold enough. Its Spotify with videos. You can also cast to other devices and enjoy your content. I believe it worth buy this app because its stable, good UI and now with offline mode you can download content to your device. Must have app if you don't have any music in your device and you only want to stream content via internet
  • This is on XBox One?
  • Yes it is, just search for "Spoticast"
  • And this is different from Spotify's own Offline feature how?
