Star Wars Battlefront 2's multiplayer beta launches in October

It's official: you'll be able to get your first taste of Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC this October. Though an October start was largely expected, EA has confirmed that the beta will officially kick off on October 4 for those who have preordered. For everyone else, the open beta will start on October 6 and last through October 11.

The beta is intended to stress test the game's multiplayer infrastructure ahead of release. According to EA, the test will let you take the battle to Naboo in the Theed Galactic Assault map. Additionally, the beta will include a Starfighter Assault battle, letting you pilot some of the iconic fighter from the Star Wars universe. EA promises there will be some more surprises in the lead up to the beta, but that's all we know for now.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will also include a single-player campaign, which is something the first entry in the series lacked. However, the campaign won't be available to check out until the game's full release on November 17. For now, if you want early access to the beta, you can preorder Star Wars Battlefront 2 in a number of different editions starting at $60.
