Three UK set to launch the Lumia 1020; register your interest today

The Lumia 1020 was unveiled by Nokia last week and already multiple carriers and retailers have announced plans to stock the new Windows Phone. UK mobile operator Three has hopped onto the train with news that consumers will be able pick up the Lumia 1020 when the smartphone launches on the network.

The company previously published a quick video walkthrough of the new Windows Phone, if you're interested. Going by images used on the website, we bet they're looking at stocking the yellow variant. Head on over to Three's website for more details and to register your interest.

  • Not sure whether to get this on Three or EE! Does anyone have any advice? I'm in London.
  • EE has decent signal for me. Whereas all my friends on 3 have awful connections, I can barely connect to them whatever time/location
  • stop lying. Three & EE (Orange/T-Mobile) use the same base stations its only the backhall such as bandwidth and the antena's that are seperate, so where you get signal on EE you'll almost most lilely get a signal on Three.
The only difference is data speeds on Three 3G are likely to be much faster than on EE as Three do not limit speeds unlike EE (Orange.T-Mobile)
Add that to the fact that Three will be launching 4G as a free upgrade on 800MHz and 1800MHz frequency which will improve signal quality greatly for FREE.
    See mbnl.co.uk
  • I'm afraid you have made a wrong leap in saying they use the same masts.
Three have their own masts for their 3G service but use EE's Network for their 2G service when you can't get a 3G Signal.
When picking a network to get a phone with always go with reception first, if you can't get a signal then the phone becomes useless. Do some tests with Free PAYG sim cards.
  • Definitely get it on Three. You can get unlimited data plans even for 4G when it rolls out at no extra cost, where as EE have ridiculously inflated rip-off prices. Three also tend to have really good contracts and definitely the best coverage for internet.
  • Three says 4g network will come at no extra cost to its existing customers with compatible phones when it is rolled out later in the year. Plus they do an unlimited data package at around £35, if that helps the decision
  • This isn't news really, already registered my interest last Friday. But defiantly 3 network unlimited internet is amazing actually use Netflix and have all my live tiles on
  • On Wednesday ee are increasing their data allowances. You can get 20gig for £51. Not amazing but better :)
  • And you can get truly unlimited with Three plus tethering for £15 per month its a no brainer really.
  • On three I was paying £25/mth for unlimited plus tethering. Vs £26/mth for unlimited no tethering on T-Mo. Add in the fact Three will do a free upgrade to 4G whereas T-Mo is stuck on 3G.
  • 1 thing i will say about three is that they slow you down at certain times of the day (from about 3pm) i use my girlfriends mobile to tether our laptop and you do notice the drop off in speed.
  • they only slow down P2P. If you're getting a slow down on other stuff you're most likely in a congested area and you should give them a call to get it checked out for you.
