Venture into the Nether with Windows 10 buddies in latest Minecraft Pocket Edition update

Minecraft Pocket Edition has just picked up quite the update, introducing not only cross-platform support for Windows 10, as well as the Nether (hello, Pigmen!), but there's a whole lot more included too. Things like flower pots, golems, enhanced weather effects and experience will really get our Richard Devine excited to hit the blocks and build a new city.

Wish to see what's new in this release (version 0.121.0.0)? See the changelog below:

  • The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
  • Cross-platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
  • Revamped touch controls, controller support and a controller mapping screen
  • Enhanced weather effects with accumulating snow and more
  • Ocelots! Try taming one with a fish
  • Experience, anvils, brewing, and enchantments
  • Golems
  • Flower pots
  • Sneaking and sprinting
  • Massive amount of bug fixing

But wait, there's even more than that, so be sure to download the latest update from the Windows Store on your handset to see what else lies awaiting your arrival (or return).

  • Still no Xbox Live integration and the name on the store is kinda weird
  • That name bug is kinda annoying MCPE.Host.WindowsPhone
  • There is in fact xbox live integration on the windows 10 version. Send invites directly from the app.
  • I think they're on about the Windows Phone version, not the Windows 10 (PC) version.
  • Should be a universal app, buy once, use on both..
  • They definitely need to do this: have Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition come to Windows 10 Mobile phones as a univeral app (cross-buy, cross-play, syncing of worlds) and have it replace the current Pocket Edition on Windows Phone 8.1. That way the mobile version will finally have Xbox integration--as it always should've--and they can start the path towards true convergence of the game (with HoloLens, and, ideally, Xbox One, coming later--all of which are the same version).
  • I still haven't bought it but I'm tempted the moment I installed Windows 10 on my machine.
  • If only it were truly cross platform w the Xbox. My son and I have to create different worlds everywhere
  • Very different versions :(
  • Yeah alas. Its weird how you are more isolated playing on a console. Wish they would unite them. They are sure making enough money to do it!
  • Quite a rare occasions Windows Phone store (and Amazon) get an update before google and ios version.
  • anyone with win10 mobile, does it also crash all the time?
  • Yeah me too!
  • Yeah, can't get it to stay open  more than a minute.
  • Can you finally have servers? How is the cross platform realised? Xbox Friends?
  • Does someone know if we can save/sync our worlds in the cloud now ? It wasn't the case previously if I'm not mistaken.
  • This is a big problem.  Who wants to spend a lot of time in a world just to lose it all for a hard reset or upgrade.
  • Yes I don't understand how this is not a feature. Same with the Win10 desktop beta.
  • Yeah, I was shocked to find out I lost my Windows 10 Edition Minecraft world when I had to reinstall Windows 10. I just assumed that, as an Xbox title, the world was cloud-saved. Boy, was I disappointed when I reinstalled Windows 10, redownloaded Minecraft, and then found out my world was gone. There is a way to manually back up the Windows 10 Edition saves, but it's kind of a hassle for most users. They need convergence of the Windows 10, Xbox One, and Windows 10 Mobile versions (and HoloLens version too, someday) so you can have access to your world on any of those devices.
  • Does anyone have the windows 10 version running on a 930, it says my device is not supported.
  • Windows 10 Edition only works on PC at the moment..
  • Cool .. Redstone would be nice. That's what is holding me back. I play from time to time on this one. But. I prefer the java version.
  • So I bought the Windows 10 beta, but have to pay again for this. Not very universal.
  • This is not the new universal Minecraft. This is just an update to the old pocket edition version.
  • 920 here, W10 mobile, says my device is not supported.
  • 820. Never experienced the lag of this release
  • So,I have a windows 10 tablet, Lumia 830 (8.1) and an Xbox 360, would I need to buy the different versions to play the game on three devices?. Always fancied a try of this game but didn't get round to it, not sure which one device I'd try it on if its not universal?.... Would I be better waiting too see if they do converge in the future??
  • So boring, these outdated graphics.
  • Anyone get it to work with a moga? I have an HTC one on 8.1.2 a and it doesn't work on either mode a or b on a moga power.
