Visual Studio 2017 will launch on March 7

Developers finally have a date to look forward to for the full launch of Visual Studio 2017: March 7. Microsoft announced the date in a new blog post that also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Visual Studio following its initial release in 1997.

Speaking on how it has evolved over the years, the team notes how Visual Studio has gradually spread from its humble beginnings to cover development across a wide variety of platforms

Over the years, Visual Studio grew from an IDE to a suite of products and services, including Visual Studio Team Services, Visual Studio Code, and many others. The family of Visual Studio products extends across platforms, enabling developers to build mobile-first, cloud-first apps that span Android, iOS, Linux, MacOS, and Windows. It also offers industry-leading DevOps practices across all types of projects, as well as tight integration with the Azure cloud.

As for Visual Studio 2017, Microsoft says that it will be holding a two-day launch event in celebration, all of which will be live streamed. Over the course of the event, the team will go over everything that's new in Visual Studio, .NET, Xamarin, Azure, and more. There will also be live training sessions on March 8 as part of the live stream.
