Windows 10 Mobile build 10512 screenshots leak as release draws nearer

Yesterday, Gabe Aul revealed that a new Windows 10 Mobile build — in the 105xx range — would be available shortly for Windows Insiders. The release will be a major increment from the 10166 build that was rolled out over a month ago. Ahead of its imminent release, screenshots from the alleged 10512 build have leaked on China's Tieba message boards.

The screenshots don't show anything new, but the build itself is expected to bring in numerous stability improvements along with a more polished user experience. The upcoming build will be from the newer TH2 (Threshold 2) development branch, which will bring the mobile OS to parity with the desktop version before its eventual RTM next month.

  • A major improvment would be to actually be able to install it on lumia 1520
  • Can't install TP?
  • Well, I hope it will support project Astoria on my phone because the old build said "Error code 14"
  • I had that on my Icon, I had to do a reset to get it to work. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I did as well. Do you have overheating issues with your icon On this build? It's a great build but wow does it get hot.
  • Seriously?  My Icon is all but useless for anything other than voice and text.  The data doesn't work at all for any apps and even some Microsofts apps are unuseable on my Icon.  I had to switch back to my HTC OneM8 to have a working phone, which is still on 8.1.  I'm waiting for the next build to hopefully fix the issues with my Icon.  No overheating, just useless...
  • My icon works great on 10166, I get Loading......., but the tapping on start works. Other problem I have is sometimes mobile data doesnt work, and have to soft reset, and sometimes coming out of a phone call the touchscreen doesn't work, and I have to reset. Minor inconveniences, 2 or 3 x's a day, it's Beta, have to expect issues.
  • My mobile data doesn't work at all on the icon.  Wifi seems to work, so I can at least get the new update when it comes out.  I also have bluetooth issues with the Microsoft band and Health app.  Insteon doesn't work, Nest app doesn't work, some times I can't swipe to unlock and have to do a soft reset.  I hope the new build is better and makes the phone more stable.  I can't imagine trying to function like this if this was my primary phone.  I will buy new hardware as soon as Microsoft/Verizon offers a new device with Win 10, but I can wait since I have two decent phones to work with.
  • try to manually enter the carrier APN in the cellular settings. i had the same issue. although i can't get LTE to work. i just get 4g.
  • Yup I have all of those issues on my icon. Good to know I'm not alone.
  • Yes, my Icon is about the same as yours. The apps can use the data but the store hasn't updated to the latest version (it's been several weeks now since the update).  I soft reset many times and I even hard reset after the update to the store and still same old store.  I'm at the point of giving up on the Icon.  I purchased the 735 from Verizon but I haven't put W10 mobile on it.  I don't want to experience the same as I am with the Icon.  Sometimes, the screen is unresponsive.  The 1520 seems to do the best with the W10 mobile.  I have W10 mobile on 640XL, 1020, 1520 and Icon.  The 640XL doesn't allow offline maps to be stored on the xD card, thus filling all of the 8GB of memory (actually after it filled up, the maps stopped installing).  I could not move the maps to the xD card.
  • @crewcabrob My Icon had the same issues, but what I did was rather a lenghty process, but it did allow my Icon to run fairly well enough to use:
    1) Plug your Icon up to your computer and backup all your data to your PC (Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc.)
    2) Uninstall as many apps from W8.1 as possible (this will speed up the update process).
    3) Update your phone to W10 Build 10166
    4) DO NOT use system restore after updating
    5) Log in and set up Win10 on your Icon
    6) Immediately do a hard reset of Win10
    7) Manually install all your apps back onto your phone
    8) Plug your phone into your PC and copy your data back onto your phone. This worked very well for me. It's a lot to go through, but it did make my Icon work much, much better. Personally, I'd wait a few more days and just upgrade to the next build, but if you can't wait, the above steps helps.
  • The ICON SUCKS BALLS!! Worst phone i have EVER owned...I had the ICON replaced twice because of hardware issues...Can't wait to ditch it!!
  • Try unregistering it with the Developer Registration Tool. Then, re-open the developer settings on your phone and activate.
  • What's this live tile, on the screenshots, that has this image of PC settings❔ Could that be something new, like some kinda remote desktop app?????????
  • It could just be the photo's app and they took a pic of thier PC's settings?
  • i dont think, isnt that the photos app two tiles above?
  • I'm not saying it's the settings app (which would have a settings icon instead), but if I recall correctly, a desktop-like landscape Settings app were to come in future builds (for select phones).
  • I think the normal settings app can do that on larger screen phones, because the settings app is also a universal app with scalable ui
  • Yeah, in landscape mode the settings app on Mobil damn near looks like the desktop version.. But, that's definitely the desktop version there.. But, what exactly is it doing there❔❔❔
  • I am running all builds from the time preview was enabled on lumia 1520. It is possible to install it.
  • Good for you :P Hopefully you aren't having Outlook account sync issues.  Ever since I added an exchange account my SMS has been broken, have to restart every few hours to see my inbox :X
  • Yeah, me too.
  • Looks like we are done with new features.... And this is quite near to final look of the OS.....i don't know about the others but win 10 mobile is not exciting to me anymore.
  • Yeah they didn't bring much new shit for users, a lot of the cool things are for devs. I am excited for the Skype integration. But we should have a redesigned Notification Center to look more like the Windows 10 version(transparent and color). And it's about damn time Swiping right on the start screen does something! I don't care what it is! Just make it do something! It's being wasted right now. Also we need live notifications on the LockScreen like iOS. Maybe someone could have done it with the Live LockScreen feature if it actually got released to devs. And wasn't so slow!
  • There still needs a lot to be improved in apps (and hopefully they will with time AND BEFORE RELEASE). But i dont see them working on new features right now... like you mentioned: notfication center, swiping right on start, better app list, more customization options, etc. I think for now they are like 'done' with current implementation, and are focusing on its stability.. and may introduce new features as they update it later annually. I personally wanted all the golden eggs on its first release.
  • Oh, so you think it's just for devs? what a waste...
  • You're right. I was so excited when they skipped a version 9 and were going for 10. I thought it would be really amazing. But nothing is special. The ACTION CENTER SHOULD BE TRANSLUCENT AND COLORFUL MATCHING THE ASCENT COLOR if the code running on PC is same as the phone. And ALBUM ART ON THE LOCK SCREEN WHEN PLAYING SONGS. Something useful in the multitasking view like iOS. Not the same, different but useful things. They should add more colors to the theme instead of just black and white. IF YOU'RE HEARING MICROSOFT, I'M A FAN OF YOURS BUT YOUR DISAPPOINTING A LOT OF WINDOWS FANS...!!
  • Lol all you want is some colour changes? Far more important things missing than aesthetics man
  • Sounds like what you really want is an iPhone...
  • Uhm noh... Nothing wrong with copying useful features from other platforms.
  • Don't think you speak for 99% of wp fans ...... Your just angry for the sake of it!
  • Three screens? No, thanks.
  • Ir worked on Meego and it was awesome. Apart from the lack of live tiles, MeeGo probably had the best UI I've ever used. Go check for Swype UI and you'll get it
  • Swipe right should be apps list. Like start menu. Swipe right should be the action center like desktop, swipe down should close the app your in
  • Swipe up should bring split screen
  • Dude... Swipe up and it splits the screen in half and it shows an app list with recents at top so you can choose one to show. Would be fast and easy. Woot. MS listening? Haha
  • The differences between the Edge Gestures in Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 "Desktop" are a mess. But then, I don't think that swipe from the left and right edges should be used by the OS in Windows 10 Mobile, they should be left available for apps to use. BTW, Swipe from Left Edge (what you call swipe right) in Windows 10 Desktop doesn't show the All Apps list, it shows the Task View. The All Apps view in Windows 10 Mobile isn't shown by an Edge Swipe, it is just a "normal" swipe.
  • RTM is next month? Wow didn't know. Hope this brings battery life improvements.
  • Battery improvements are always the last thing to be improved upon... :-\
  • I am getting about 30 hours out of my 1520, almost as good as 8.1 was (which was more like ~35)
  • No he said about PC th2 not phone
  • ..
  • @ akssingh You are right, nothing to get excited about. I'm kinda disappointed, they put all this effort in a new OS and at the end of the day its equal, or in some things inferior, to what we have now. I do hope they have some surprises up their sleeve.
  • Check this....   http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-10-mobile/375862-new-concept-mu...
  • Wow pinoy designer! If Microsoft could just see this work of yours :) haha! Nice brader!
  • What a concept! Love it.
  • Typical Microsoft. Start over. Start behind the current version is many ways and not up to par with the two powerhouse elephants in the room.
  • agree with you, already enjoyed the 8.1
  • No, there isn't an insane amount of new features, but the Windows Phone OS is already solid, and if we can just fix the app gap with Project Astoria and Islandwood, I think it'd be near perfect
  • The OS is functional. It has the necessary things now. While I may love more features added, I don't think they will really make much difference. Allowing developers to express themselves is more important.
  • Mi too Windows 10 mobile is boring, it's suffering from lack of new stuffs and animation
  • As a Windows Phone user for 4.5 years I have to agree, the UI is dull compared to 8 and the OS lacks the "wow factor/feature" it needs to bring over Apple/Android users, Continuum sure as hell isn't it and I don't see what else is on offer.
  • Continuum on paper seems like a great product but, to most people who dont realy NEED to use something like that it will be something used a few times and never touched again. Unless you really need it....
  • Did they make any updates to the photo app?  I hate it that it only shows camera roll folder but not the subfolders I have under pictures from my 64GB microSD card.
  • I hope it fixes/activates the Hey Cortona feature on my 1520, and tile folders do not seem to work like they should. Strange enough, the only folder I have is the one for media. That was already preinstalled, with the last update.
  • I actually run the build 10166 on my Lumia 1520 and happy with it.
  • Anything would be an improvement. Win10 mobile is a joke. No wonder the Platform is struggling. Just release it now :)
  • Seems faster?
  • It better be :D
  • Only -2?  Not fast enough
  • :)
  • YUUSSS!
  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! your fACE makes me laugh
  • Haha thanks!
  • I can't wait for improved stability and being able to charge my phone with it off, hopefully it comes out tomorrow! :D
  • Looking at windows 10 pc still having bugs and crashes, things not working at all etc, you can expect windows 10 phone to still have a ton of bugs and crashes even after RTM
  • Yes please stability
  • What I expect is no more overheating when doing regular stuff like charging phone, watching youtube or browsing net. I expect batteey to be wastly improved since now my 1520 cant hold one day and on 8.1 it had 3 days battery time. All other improvments are more than welcome.
  • Until proper firmware is released, battery life will always be terrible. Unfortunately.
  • Well as MS own the brand, we can hope they release new firmware and branding by networks is done by apps Only :)
  • I get about 30 hours battery life with my 1520, only slightly worse than 8.1 was.
  • It doesn't really matter if it doesn't have any new features in this build... I just expect lots of bug fixes and a control on the app crashes... I had to roll back from the previous build just because of the app crashes.. Each and every app was crashing and I got annoying... So I hope that this build will take care of it...
  • totally agree with you! I like the way the os is right now, the features are there, a lot more are coming in (near and/or far) future through the windows as a service model. The importanti thing for us insiders is to get as many fixes as possible, since now it can and should be used as a daily driver, thus it must be usable and stable a lot more than how it is right now
  • Yippee!
  • I'm thirsty for it
  • Fix the issues special the issue on upload photos from camera roll to one drive.
  • default apps please!!!
  • I need that very much
  • Wow getting ready for it...
  • ...I will kiss my phone! :D
  • Best feature I'm waiting for: Not having my touch screen stop working after a call. Other than that it rocks on my l1520
  • Thank god, someone else is having this issue. I thought my device was faulty.
  • Hahaha, you don't love that?? It happens to me on long calls, when it gets hot. Anytime it gets too hot, touchscreen goes awol.
  • Well i would if i hadnt need to do a soft reset everytime i do long calls, which is all the time... trust me you woldnt love it if it happened 10 times a day..
  • I have this almost every day. Really starting to hate wp now. Using Nokia 930. Only solution is restart. Have you noticed it happens less if you switch off the display before raising to hear/answer call. But it's so difficult when you making a call and IVR tell you too press 1 for x and 2 for y, and your touch stops working. Hating it
  • As far as I kno it happens only in the TP.. Rollback to 8.1 and Boom its gone
  • @narindersharma Please tell me you aren't on the preview and complaining about having problems with your phone.
  • This^
  • Or messaging when texting back from the notification center. My phone has froze up numerous times and it's pissed me off. Alongside messages being sent and received much later.
  • That's not a feature lol,
  • Same here on 930, but it's worth having swipe writing in my native language
  • If you roll back to 8.1, you'll still have the native word flow. At least that's how it worked out for me (930 with update 2 and Hungarian word flow)
  • Thats because of your sweat
  • it's the worry as to whether his screen will work when he finishes his call that makes him sweat
  • Same problem with my 1520
Screen get freeze after call ends
  • +1320 :-/
  • Just try wiping the screen with a soft cloth and then lock and unlock the screen ... works for me
  • Ok i am trying this now.
  • I hate when this happens, and on my Nokia 930 this is happening a lot. Touch is not responsive after call. Restart is the only option. If this does not get fixed, I am done with wp.
  • This is a technical preview, and bugs are to be expected. That's why they do these... to justify the bugs and (hopefully) fix them before RTM. You skills not be in a preview if this is going to be your reaction to problems.
  • Don't worry, they won't let bugs like that stay inside the software.
  • Its a TP ffs! Released so we can give input not judge it as a final product. This platform is much better off without ppl like u, go back to 8.1 then bitch about wp. So funny ppl threatening to leave wp like anybody gives a shit..... Let me guess your indian?
  • This is a preview!!!!! Expect bugs!!!! This is not an official build!!!! Stop complaining about bugs!!!!
  • That happened to me 3 times today on my Icon, so annoying!!!
  • My only question is aside from whining are you guys submitting these issues to Microsoft to help improve the builds? Cause that would really blow if weren't doing that and just complaining in the comments section.
  • Wish they changed the People app live tile. Those circles look very sparse and out of place.

  • I agree. What is wrong the current (8.1) style? The circles (imho) do not look good at all.
  • Ugh! I hate those circles everywhere. Microsoft has lost the modern theme.
  • What are you stuck in the 90's ? Circles are the in thing now. Boxes are so last year. Keep up with moden treands please.
  • I like the circles. It helps differentiate between contacts and everything else. You always know when you see a circle now that its a contact.
  • Yeah you're right. But they still dont need to be very far apart...
  • My people hub is on the small tiles. I don't like seeing those circles, its untidy
  • How did you NOT know a picture of your friend was a contact before?... I mean, what possibly did you confuse it with???
    .......
So, you're in the people hub and you couldn't tell those where contacts because they were square??? Lol. Seriously.
  • Lol this^
  • Have you heard the word "differentiation" before?
  • Nope... Never heard that.
  • @rodneyej, lmao.
  • Lol.
  • Yes. Just a matter of preference. I hope that the circles are adjacent to one another. The animation would be cool if they move diagonally/horizantally like bubbles moving past one another. And they should really fix the resolution of the pictures of contacts integrated from facebook.
  • No. You are not right.
  • The people hub itself looks ugly when compared to the 8.1 people hub. The typography feels off and far too much blank space
  • Yes. Too much blank spaces make the UI dull.
  • To much blank space is throughout the OS though. Did MS hire some sort of zen guru hippy who wolks around saying "lets embrace the space my followers".
  • Agreed. Im not sure why MS didnt just maintain the general style/typography of 8.1 and just apply the Win10 UI to that ...the way it is right now is a mess and i hope thats just temporary.
    -----------
...for example, the people hub titles/tabs are small bolded fonts, contacts names are small and thin, yet the alphabet letters for the jumplist are nicely thin and larger. I might sound too picky but such small details do make a difference to layout, which helps keep focus away from blank space. Anyways, I'm probably starting to sound like Steve Jobs, so I'll just keep quiet.
  • They probably won't change it... Sadly, the current design for the contact pictures and radio buttons reeks of iOS/Android... The OS has lost it's identity due to users whining that the OS isn't like the other platforms... Just like how people refused change and wanted the Start Menu so they could turn off their computet like before... Pretty funny since upon upgrading to Windows 8 you'd have a tutorial to go through...
  • Hey, what about making the circles overlaping, but only some(1,2 or 3 circles and drifting slowly would be cool) would be fully shown. I'm not an insider for W10M because my only WP cant do a dual boot. Can someone writes a feedback? I'm not sure uservoice would works.
  • Someone senior needs to walk in and say "WTF is with the people app? Burn the entire thing down!" The entire thing is blah not just the tile.
  • ^This! This! This! Its odd all over! ...it must be those circles; they seem to be keeping the minds behind them running in circles with no results.
  • I agree, I can't stand the redesign, including the circles. Text is too small, contact history is missing, integration with email is missing, just in general a lot of the linked elements are not there and it's just barely a step above a contact manager app. Very disappointing compared to the functionality of 8.1.
  • I want to see multiwindow on windows phones.
  • Note sadly
  • c'mon I just want transparent notification center like W10PC
  • This! Especially for the volume control panel
  • And music controls too..
  • Agree.. Music controls.. There's a lot of request in feedback for music controls in Action..
  • I'd actually prefer it in the volume controls rather than in the action center, because 1) it's unique, 2) it can be accessed anywhere with ease, unlike the aciton center which sometimes gets hidden by videos and games and requires an additional swipe. I also think that the music controls should be altered in the volume controls though.
  • It just needs to be in both... And, they should give us that right swipe to access them.. That's a good place, and wasted space.
  • *translucent
  • I'm looking forward to everybody getting their precious WP beta build and quit nagging
  • Right?!
  • Haha exactly
  • Naw, they'll still whine about it - just like they are with W10.
  • No, there are legitimate gripes. This is why this is a public beta, to get feedback, whether formally or informally right? I just want the functionality to match 8.1 and add some additional features. Right now there is more that did not come over from 8.1 than was added. I can deal with stability issues, that is to be expected.
  • They'll probably get it and whine because they were expecting new features but didn't get any, lol.
  • Looks faster
  • Make the action center translucent n inbuilt app password n dats ol
  • Stability especially start screen getting stuck.
  • I have this so often it's not funny. Usually after restarting because something else has died.
  • This is quite frequent for me, at least 5 times a day it gets stuck loading the start screen, the only way for it to load is opening search through the button, opening a couple of apps and then retry pressing the home key. That is really awful.
  • "Living with Unfinished Software", by Users of Windows Central
  • I want virtual marshmallows
  • Lol xD best feature xD
  • Damn music controls in the Action Center, and on the music tile. And, give us back the extra large live tile for music... SMDH
  • Yes. For the love of God.
  • I really don't understand why we should be begging and crying for basic functions.
  • It's ridiculous.
  • (Still a) "Big" Deal -> Startscreen Landscape Mode!!! Besides: Split Screen Mode, Inbuild App Locker & Phone Recorder!!!
  • Startscreen landscape is something I wanted since wp8, but it's also true that from Design point of view, it's quite confusing and difficult to achieve. If you just rotate all the icons 90 degress, while tiles stay the same, its quite easy to implement (given every app supports vertical tiles along with horizontal ones) But it'd be ugly. And if you want horizontal tiles stay horizontal in landscape too, then it becomes difficult.. Should they allow seperate startscreen for landscape? Should they divide current startscreen in square partitions? (it'll be good, but will restrict some customization) Should they do polling? What about live folders? How should they expand now? etc. Users might not be able to answer such questions...they just need a landscape mode which they like.
  • Just like Symbian handled it, separate startscreen for landscape :D
  • With the touch pro 2, when you slid out the keyboard everything changed to landscape and you got a different start screen which was also customisable.
  • Well, a little odd but I wasn't able to get OTPs and login verification code for Twitter via sms in build 10166. So, I downgraded to 8.1..Now it runs fine..
  • Yea that's the collector NSA had them put in for W10. Any OTPs etc are scrapped from SMS/Authenticator app when opened and sent to the NSA, they should still come to you tho so that is very odd.
  • We're not discussing google here...
  • I wonder if the apps list will move to the left side of the start screen like on PCs and Tablets or stay on the right side.
  • I've wondered that as well.
  • It would be confusing for users to be honest
  • Yeah, it would be as from Wp7 its always a left swipe.
  • Why would being honest confuse people? I'm literally confused at the end of the day to be honest...
  • I want my 8.1. Calendar functionality back.
  • What's missing?
  • That tidy week view for one... And, the dark theme.
  • Just noticed that ...odd! Either way, Im still having mixed feelings about 10 for mobile ...while its take many steps in the right direction, it's also taken some odd steps back especially from a design perspective ...hoping these are just temporary till final build. Even the look of setting up Cortana reminders looks like a form from a 1990 html website.
  • Welcome to WP, the only Microsoft product to lose key features with every release.
  • Lol.
  • In all fairness,, even after release refinements will continue to be made... We just need to keep putting our two cents in.
  • True that but it's still an odd decision to take steps back, as opposed to continue building refinements on what they already had right. The start screen is an excellent example of that, they maintained it yet improved on it in everyway. Anyhoo, here's hoping these are just tech preview stuff they will eventually iron out by the time it releases officially.
  • Year view from calendar is missing
  • That too..
  • with there was a weekly view cause i dont have that either, just 1 day view which sucks
  • Agree...also automatic recognition of locations/businesses in the location field was nice in 8.1 but no longer there...
  • Wasn't call recording supposed to be a feature of Windows 10 mobile? When is that coming?
  • When the lawyers allow it
  • More like when Microsoft decoded to make it and push it.
  • Just want to get the best performance:)
  • "The screenshots don't show anything new.." lol
  • It really doesn't. That is a legitimate statement :P
  • I would be very happy if they enable WiFi direct
  • There is one. Called wifi file transfer.
Pretty easy to download and use
  • Native is key. I appreciate developers and all but...
  • Does it work without hotspot?
  • yes ofc it works.... u just need a QR scanner on the other phone and bam... ur ready
  • WiFi Direct is there on Windows Phone 8.1, but there is no API available to the developer. :( If you are having WP with Snapdragon 400, then open miracast settings (wireless display), you will get a WiFi Direct hotspot on any other device.
  • I know the camera is a separate app, but I would like to see the functionality on par with Lumia camera. Especially on the 1520. As of now for me, rich capture doesn't function, can't edit moments, no 4k.. Cameras were big selling points for me with 1020 & 1520. Other than that and the random bugginess I've been pretty happy with win 10 mobile so far.
  • I'd like to see the default camera recognise high pixel capacities, not only 5mp. I'd like to choose the resolution I want each time, not the crap of 5mp+19mp being implemented in Lumia Camera
  • There are Camera Apps out there that do not deal with the 5mp+19mp thing, but Id love to see the native Camera App let ME choose what MP I want to shoot my pics in up to and including the maximum MP that my camera is capable of.
  • Lumia Camera has also excellent UI for settings. Really mind-boggling that Lumia Camera was killed and not made the default camera app.
  • Yep camera and photos both apps need lot of improvements. I miss all those lumia collection apps and integration of lense in lumia camera and resolution selection too I use 1020 and I change resolution a lot. I also have this issue with photos they take time to render when pinch zoomed in photos app. Photos app has a long list of improvements to go through. Hope they fix all those.
  • Some of the same issues I have with the photo app happen on the PC version too.  It's just clunky when loading the library.  Takes a long while before new photos will appear.  I've gone and retaken or redownloaded photos thinking they didn't save.
  • I'd like for my data to work, been without since the beginning
  • hey there. my access point settings (used to get t-mobile connection on my at&t unlocked 920) crapped out randomly about a week into installing build 10166 and it wouldnt connect to lte. my fix was downgrading to 8.1 with the windows phone recovery tool for computer, use a back-up of windows phone 8.1 to reinstall access point settings, then upgrading from windows phone 8.1 to build 10166. have you tried that?
  • Why not just enter the APNs manually?
  • Hope they will change the people tile.it looks horrible.
  • What about voice call recording? Is it coming on with this build?
  • yey it can create live folders again! but it seems like there's nothing new to be added..even in the future..or some cool features that only WP has (aside from livetiles)..
  • 10166 build is working fine on lumia 720 ,without any heating, only thing is to work on speed and performance.
  • Why are all the leaks from China? Isn't Microsoft in the U.S.?
  • Cause all phones are made in China (so they have fresh os images to test first), even those "designed in California" LOL
  • Cupertino ones?
  • Yay hopefully thia one installs like a charm and works and dosent last 20 mins like the last one :D
  • Really odd that the Lumia Icon there is running Windows 10 in Chinese.
  • Ooh, didn't think about that. The Icon is a US specific phone.
  • Or it could be the 930, you know, the international variant of the US only 929/Icon. I don't know if China even has CDMA bands to begin with.
  • It was quoted as a 929 (AKA ICON)...Not as a 930...
  • Hey Cortana??
  • She's asleep!
  • now that all my pcs are on 10 my 8.1 phone feels old, I hope it eradicates the loading-resuming screens
  • Mail app needs to either follow the Outlook.com default from address settings, or allow you to pick a default in the app. Dealbreaker for me, meaning never upgrading to Win10 Mobile until they address this issue! Unless of course this works in Outlook Android/iOS apps which then I may have to resort to a little trickery and running one of those on my device... That would be hella disappointing.
  • Real multitasking my friends. I need real multitasking. I need a real file explorer, battery. I'm tired of this so called innovations when the basics of a smartphone are not present in any system out there but the mighty Symbian who got killed for this rookies.
  • I Never used symbian, can you elaborate?
  • For starters, i was able to hold more then 10 apps (even big games like asphalt 8) in air without the system to slow down to much or forcely close them. There was no suspend machanism in Symbian, everything was opened and live. And that is why i never had problem leting programs, store or games work further while i was doing something else. Thing that wp cannot do, and that is why you will always see resume no matter how powerful the hardware is. And also this is why you will always loose a video that opened in iexplorer. And all of this i could do with a very small hardware. 680mhz downclocked ARM processor and 256 mb RAM. Symbian also had real file manager, with a small tweek you could modify even systems files straight from the device. The last version was quite secure. Symbian suported everything natively. Even the huge camera of the 808. With ease, not needing allot of tweeks and modifications the 1020 needed to even start the sensor. Also, suported two CPU's (no, not only cores). And that is how 808 handles that camera with just 512 RAM and 1300mhz Cpu. It has another Cpu dedicated for camera. Everything in it's core worked pretty much like an operating system and not like an mobile os. The only downside was the hardware that was never on par with the system capabilities. I'm still sure a symbian phone with 1500 mhz and 2 gb ram would have killed any android wp and ios performance. And let's not forget thouse native capabilities is packed with. And how advanced would have now been if their weren't heavy interests to kill it.
  • So go buy a tablet or a PC. If you really want all that on your phone, maybe you spend a bit to much time on one.
  • Symbian not that great either. It had its downside too like hanging, virus prone etc.
  • Hanging was cause of the small ram and the fact that multitasked live. So it would multitasked till there wasn't ram. That is why never hanged on me but hanged on people that didn't know how to use an operating system at it's capabilities. I never had a virus in my smartphones and was using symbian since 2003. And was quite a privacy saviour. Everything you had was in your phone and not outside it.
  • Oh how I miss Symbian sometimes...
  • Android is practically an evolution of symbian
  • If you don't apreciate your privacy and so many other flows android has. You could say that. But to my opinion, is an involution. Symbian had so many native capabilities this new systems are still learning them. So, imagine if that system would have been further developed and not killed! Yes it is true, was never a system for the avarage user. But well, in symbian era smartphones were used by people who understood them fully.
  • Fix the photos app. About time albums feature actually worked and stop displaying duplicates even when the option not to is on
  • Hope it would solve issues of instagram no opening on Microsoft lumia 535 and other related issues
  • Instagram hasn't been updated in way over a year, atop using it. Just use 6tag the only real instagram for Windows Phone.
  • I hope the return search button in messaging. Also hope some apps like truecaller and onefootball will finally start working and proshot doesn't take forever to launch
  • The messaging search should come back. I recall seeing on the 10166 release notes that there was specific mention of this feature still missing from the build. To me this indicates it is still planned.
Gets me though why features like this were stripped from the original preview builds.....did they write the OS from scratch again???
  • I imagine they did, there is a ridiculous amount of under the hood changes. Have a look this example : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/usbcoreblog/archive/2015/05/11/new-in-windows-10...
  • Can you pin individual outlook folders now? That feature is critical for me since I filter my alerts to show up on live tiles
  • Yes
  • Yes, we can already to that in the current build.
  • when you say current build, do you mean 8.1 or 10 preview?
  • Need the photo app to be improved, no one drive albums etc, shocking zooming. I would be happier using the one from WP8.1
  • I just need more dev support our platforms..
  • I don't like the circles.
  • I do like the circles.
  • I like turtles. Does that resonate with this India heavy crowd?
  • I don't like circles but my wife won't use wp because she doesn't like squares...
  • My 520 is ready :D
  • This will be the build I will finally use as my daily driver. IF Groove Music doesn't crash 80% of the time...
  • I would like the screen to work after taking a call
  • I am not able to create Live folders Om Start screen.
  • Wow big leap
  • Hope this new build will grant me three wishes and give us world peace under the rule of the Sith.
  • Don't like the gumball look of people tile. Reminds me of awful Apple Watch.
  • Support for Lumia 530 :S
  • So have any of you guys noticed that Outlook doesn't sync all the time sometimes you have to delete the email account then add it back
  • Everyone has noticed this.
  • I had the problem on one of my Windows 10 PCs.
  • So rtm is next month?
  • Big build jump, not much changes
  • Stfu all of you right now !!  .... You all will bend over spread em  and take it  no matter what gets fixed or not.... you will eat it and like it no matter what they released  ....now assume the position
  • Hahaha
  • There should be a right swipe on start screen, call recorder, fix photos app, transparent action center, & pop-ups for whats app and other messaging app and rply there-by feature, A STABLE BEAST OS !!
  • Want split screen. Hope this build brings that. Also would love more live tiles interactions. Floating live tiles maybe? Probably not possible now.
  • Coming in 10 mins
  • What about interactive live tiles??
  • I want a real calendar with custom reminders and better snooze options. I can't run my business with the current half ass calendar. I need to be able to add a calendar appointment with a 3 hour reminder and be able to enter a custom appointment such as "the first Saturday of every other month". I am a power user with a ton of appointments and this current calendar is a toy compared to my Google calendar on my Note 4. I'm keeping an eye on Windows in hopes of coming back but I am disappointed so far in these Insider builds. Hopefully this build will give us some professional tools. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I feel you. The old one was so good.
  • Yes, the reminders are awful on 8.1. Definitely need custom reminders.
  • Basically that the battery symbol shows me how full my battery really is based on the actually % left. Hate that the symbol looks like 90% but its already down at 72%.
And because the guy over me brought it up : A better callender. Also I want the old OneNote mobile app and not that stupid ass smaller desktop version wich totally sucks. The old one was smoother and more accessible
  • I hate that app drawer. That search bar.. Yakkk.... I hate it...
  • I love it.
  • I hate that cz its black.. I want it to be white which was earlier
  • I'm a black search bar and i find it racist
  • Everything is black in the app drawer.. If search bar would be white it would be more appealing than the black.. And normally search bars are white..
  • I don't like that the background moves, that the Startscreen doesn't have big enough borders, and the app list doesn't have the borders either...
  • How the think. Why they don't want to put new features nthn new just another bugs a shit fixed like for what reason the peraon want to leave his current os and go to w10 m.
  • To test for bugs and provide feedback, just as it was intended for.
  • Hope it fixes mobile hotspot turning off if the screen is locked.
  • Works fine here
  • I would of thought having been able to run android apps the past few days that this site would do stories???
  • There are plenty of sites which have posted articles on how to add android apps to windows 10 mobile... you can check over here http://wmpoweruser.com/how-to-install-android-apps-on-windows-10-mobile/
  • They did a story on Saturday but vowed to never share links on how to do it.
  • Yeah, I got banned lol
  • You can install them, but I believe they run in a Virtual Machine, and you can't install apps that use Google Play Services.
  • Nothing
  • Will the Lock screen remain the same? I think it is one of the elements that are same from wp7.
  • Yuppp ur Right i think Microsoft do something amazing for our windows phone lock screen...
  • The lockscreen is now an app that can be updated too. So I think it will be updated.
  • Where did you see this?? I think is not true.
  • I just want a super stable build.
  • Use Nokia 3310.
  • When Official...????
  • Later this year.
  • Hope we don't have to hard reset to have it work properly build 10166 was horrible
  • Amien.
  • On Mr Rubbernose's advice I did a hard reset to see if my 925 would improve its performance. What a mistake. Now it's slower, alarms don't work, I can't save custom ringtones and sounds from several apps, random photos appear in my photos folders, WiFi switches off on its own and all manner of other weirdness. This build can't come soon enough. And my advice, don't hard reset.
  • If I could upvote you through the app I would.
  • I would highly recommend it. The current build is pretty bad stability wise, and if the new build is such a big improvement, you'll get the best performance from starting fresh with it. I'm definitely hard resetting, because the current build is kinda useless.
  • Maybe ms would add the nonlumia devices. That would be very Good and fair!
  • Seems faster
  • I like the white search bar for dark theme and black search bar for light theme.
  • L730 user dont you guys bothered with big back and search button on navigation bar??? I see this take effect on some apps for example tweetium, usually we get 7 tab can be pinned on timeline in 1 screen now on W10M we only get 6 also on VLC we get split screen on Artist section (advantage on HD res. screen) but on W10M the split screen is gone.. And I cant find that problem on windows feedback :(
This bug been there since build 9xxx but no one mention it :(
  • well the navigation bar can be made smaller but swipe to hide option is there
  • Microsoft Band to actually get notifications without it being unlocked (the phone). Groove music to retain last played so it works with my Bluetooth alarm clock. Camera unlock.
  • No new features , just polish from now on / Stability. Biggest issue right now is how SLOW the OS and APP crashes. Hopefully they better in this built.
  • We need picture password (like pc versions its great and not natively available on both ios and android pin is so boring)
  • WM10 is supposed to RTM next month? If that's the case then 10512 better be more stable than a 60 year marriage. Right now it doesn't feel like it should RTM until next year.
  • Because stability of code is something they can do fast. Users have never been allowed to use OS software this early in development before, so users never realized what it's like. Now we know.
  • What specification I wont get on my 630
  • When we get windows 10 for all Lumia Phones official release date??
  • Autumn/early winter.
  • What's Lumia 929? Wasn't Icon kind of 929 BUT it's Verizon's phone and this release is in China
  • The Lumia Icon IS the Lumia 929.  I also find it strange that a US, Verizon exclusive phone is being used here.
  • Probably to show that you can run it on the Icon.
  • Battery improvement should be the priority
  • It's 9 a.m. in Germany...Where is the new build?
  • Eh .. it's not even close to 9am local time in Redmond (aka where MS is located). It's still middle of the night at Redmond (-9 hours from NL time at least). So you have to wait till something like 6-7pm before it's 9am in Redmond ;).
  • I know... but I dont care! I want that build NOW! :p
  • Cortana reading out text messages and Hey Cortana being back on my 930 is high on my list
  • The reading text message still there cortana>notebook>setting>read incoming text message aloud
  • Lot of settings missing. Like glance, device hub....etc
  • Landscape start screen mode...and a lot of improvement in stability...
  • Cool
  • Should be smooth as wp8
  • Aim higher.... As WP7.0
  • I just want apps to stop force closing, and for some apps to actually be able to open again...
    ......
For example, the Groove app force closes, and won't open back up, and the MyATT app refuses to open at all... SMDH.
  • I don't have any problems with groove closing. Force close is Android since you actively had to force hanged apps to close.
  • Sure Release is so artistic! He can draw Nearer!
  • So do I have to roll back to w8.1 before installing the new build of w10? Am currently on build 10166
  • We'll know it when the build is released!
  • Lumia 929 in the screenshots. Which phone is that?
  • When will windows phone gets otg support?
  • Only just noticed they removed the thin narrow gaps between tiles when grouping apps together
  • I think that's just a bug with the app folders
  • The most obvious change (more a bug fix), for me, is going to be the ability to install UK English speech language pack. Cortana is otherwise effectively 'broken' and as it is such an important part of Windows 10 (all variants) it needs to work. Reliably.
  • @Dyson the narrow gap between apps is optional even on build 10166
  • I hope to see photos app fixed, sharing option fixed too.
Also I expect to see a better photo selection when choosing a pic in a app because I have more than 25000 pics on OneDrive and when I want to choose one with the picture picker it's just impossible to scroll down 20000 to find the good one.
On WP8 we can use folders, that makes the selection easier
  • What I actually hope for are 5 things: 1) that Calendar and E-Mail tiles finally stop becoming blank 2) that Energy Saver gets a live tile like in 8.1 3) that the Audible Apps actually starts playing the audio books instead of loading endlessly 4) that the pictures/photos app becomes useable (i.e. integrating albums based on the folder structure) 5) that the notification icon on the top disappears when you tap a notification banner to open an app instead of having to pull down the action center in order to dismiss the icon.
  • I just hope it fixed the constant crying that goes here at Windows Central. Nahh... That's to much to hope for.
  • Will the Lumia icon have the ability to have 4 medium tiles across like the 1520? And will it be able to split screen apps too?
  • Yes the three tiles standard and show more tiles for 4 tiles
  • Hey Cortana
  • I hope Windows 10 will beat Android and teach google a lesson about socialism
  • I hope Windows 10 apps now flood the store soon.
  • Is there a list anywhere of new apps built using the Windows 10 SDK? (could include those that were updated too like Twitter and Audible)
  • As I have said, I hope.
  • I hope there will be high frame rate video recording, it is in emulator but not in phone :/
  • Because it depends on your phone if it is highend.
  • Camera improvements...
  • General stability improvements and the messaging app are really all need at the moment. I tried to get Into a Skype for Business call yesterday and it's either the app or Windows 10, but it wasn't having any of it. Sometimes Windows 10 runs smooth as butter on my 1020, but every now and again it grinds to a halt and another issue is sometimes edge becomes unresponsive when I go back to the app. All expected things in a preview, pre beta OS, bit looking forward to having them fixed
  • That's about how it goes. Sometimes it's super responsive and faster than Windows Phone 8.1 for me (Lumia 820), sometimes it's horrible and runs like hell and apps won't launch.
  • Same here testing a 1520. But then it's a beta so I work on another phone. I really hope stability improvements come with this release, across the board - and o want to see openvpn support, better support for Commercial vpn Solutions. Here's hoping...
  • I just want my phone to stop crashing. That's all I ask. And the start menu as well as all core apps to always load and work. That would be incredible.
  • I'm looking forward to being able to make a phone call without the phone locking up. Using Bluetooth without dropping a call. Email not locking up and maybe being able to rely on my phone.
  • Wednesday is an odd day for it to be released, right?
  • Yeah its not even
  • Of course it has to be in Chinese to make it more teasing.
  • What I definitely expect to see is the ability to use custom ringtones on my calls and alarm.
  • You can already do that sheesh.
  • I am looking forward to seeing landscape support of the start screen. It's the biggest feature I am really missing in my Lumia 1520 ruining windows phone 8.1. Second feature I am hoping to hoping to see it's that rescaling and rendering of emails in mail app is solved. In windows phone 8.1 on my Lumia 1529 email fonts are recalled to big (size 28-36) making reading emails a mixed and long reading experience. Issue has been present for years.
  • I am looking forward for Usb OTG support on my Lumia 520.!
  • Have a look at this, http://blogs.msdn.com/b/usbcoreblog/archive/2015/05/11/new-in-windows-10... . Granted things could change last minute.
  • USB OTG???
  • Please ask to change Contacts Tile design...Its really akward...
  • For lumia535 is new update?what is the hard restart?10152 is availoble for my phone?
  • I meen 10512
  • Seams strange to me, that many of you wants ui improves and not basically staff for a mobile phone. Ringtones for SMS, not freezing after calls, must tap 15 times to check your 5 emails accounts and more and more problems. Weird
  • I wonder about that too. I also wonder of the people are annually using the tp and know how many problems there actually are.
  • oh yes.. the unified mail box must be back !!!
  • WiFi hotspot stability
  • the phone in the picture, is it 625?
  • It certainly looks like a Lumia 625 to me.
  • I hope it fixes the notification bug on my lumia 640. I Dont get any notifications from messaging, store, calls or anything what so ever. It doesnt even have no settings to turn it on
  • Major upgrade will be Battery life on my 1520... I hope...
  • How do I install this
  • When is the "soon" coming ?
    Bring it ön*
  • Sections, Microsoft, please :(
  • i hope they fixed the email because before it would not compress videos before sending like in 8.1
  • Pls release today
  • Openvpn support. MSFT need to think about full vpn support.
    .
Also the ability to use quiet time WITHOUT having to enable Cortana. That is just dumb. If other platforms can do it why does msft need Cortana enabled for this feature? Insane.
  • Agree. It's almost as if they are trying to give Cortana at least one feature that is actually useful.
  • I know, it's odd. All Cortana is good for is reminders, choice activation and input and... What? They're is nothing that cannot be done without selling of your privacy. To have Cortana on you give up your privacy and location, burning battery to boot. It should be an option to assist you but Cortana should be able to be disabled as it is just a glorified accessibility feature. Quiet time does not require Cortana. If android can get out right msft can do better. It's just bonkers. And openvpn so you can browse freely. Ad blocking would be good too - personally I don't want to give my info out. I paid for the phone. MSFT want something, they pay me.
  • Not to mention to enable Cortana, location has to be on. So in turn to use Quiet hours, you have to have your gps on 24/7... which is rather lame.
  • I don't even understand that. Ok, geofencing might be an option, but surely there has to be the ability to TURN IT OFF! Completely insane.
  • I hope they add more desktop settings like Microsoft's Edge's advanced settings for default search etc.
  • All I want in the default browser is a way to set MY homepage. I HATE the fact that IE/Edge opens the last page visited.
  • This same article was basically posted last week about the build that had a blocking bug. That we may see it by the end of the week phsssss
  • Xbox streaming.....
  • I find it particulary funny to still see Nokia photo's of Nokia phones on every subject of Windows 10 updates where are the Microsoft Phones
  • I hate those circles on people live tile, looks horrible, cant we just get the one we have on 8.1 please. Yes can do.
  • To have it more usable on the 830.
  • Whoow... Dat rendered image luks gud
  • I just want my linked inboxes. Having to switch between them is such a step backwards. Oh and to choose my Live people tile. I have twitter pics floating all over and I don't even know those people.
  • Go into People->"..." Menu at the bottom->Settings->Filter Contact List. There you can turn off the twitter contacts in your people hub and they won't show up on the live tile anymore.
  • Stability and battery life improvements. That's all I ask for. Windows 8.1 update 2 lasts 100x longer than the latest build of windows 10
  • Performance like WP 8.1 !
  • Performance like WP 8.1 !!
  • More animations and background pics on messaging app.
  • Wudnt dat b nice if the phone asks pin when i try to turn the device off.. Lyk... Someone steals my phone n turns it off..... then there is no FFFFFFF reason for Find My Phone to be on!
  • Then he will just remove the battery, or soft reset!
  • Only three things I really want. They really need to start adding new features and catching up to the other OSes. Win10 Mobile is already boring.
1.) Improved photo app. The current one sucks, can't find any of my photos half the time since everything is by date and album view doesn't show OneDrive albums.
2.) PC /phone SMS sync. This feature has been requested for years.
    3.) Translucent Action Center.
  • Looks like they fixed only one live folder creation issue.
  • If this build brings feature parity with W10PC, does that mean W10M can finally support P2A authentication for university WiFi?
  • I rolled back to WP8.1 because on W10 Mobile, i couldn't open "for developer" setting after restart. Anyone else who has the same issue?
  • Mr. Aul, please wake up and give us the build!
  • What a funny joke ha ha ha
  • Yes possible.. Mainly this will fix hanging issues
  • Shussh....Mr. Aul is still having his nap.
  • If the OS improves stability and performance with this build, I'm OK. In regards to features, I reserve judgement until I see the final version running on the new hardware this fall. Then it has to rock.
  • I hope cortana in india would be available
  • <p>The only missing thing (that i want) is the ability to select default programs :(</p>
  • It's ok if they don't fix all the bugs... But PLEASE IMPROVE THE BATTERY LIFE...
  • I expect to see LED notifications support. If that happens, TP will be the daily driver on my Lumia 930
  • Wow, so many want cosmetic changes only and not actual features...
  • Well we stare at the phone all day. Make it customizable. Its quite simple. How hard is it to offer a color pallet. It would take little of their time and they can still concentrate on the apps/features. That's one thing that's bugged me since iPhone 1G, holding dumb features for years to keep interest. ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING. Lmao. W.e
  • It is funny. I fully appreciate the ui needs work and greater control over customisation (though its not been a problem for ios) but really the feature set needs work. Even simple things - quiet time needs to work WITHOUT Cortana, and openvpn support is a must for the privacy conscience consumer. As things stand, w10m needs work - but then this is a beta and they're is time... I hope.
  • This build should be out to insiders Saturday morning. This build will improve battery management although current build is ok.
  • Source?
  • Cant wait for 120fps
  • Can they please fix that terrible Peoples tile? I know that has to be a top request in the Insider Feedback section. Seriously.
  • RTM soon? Is it even stable yet? Lol... Win10 on my PC has issues hahahahaha MS shame on u. They rushed WP out since the beginning. So typical
  • I'm hoping to see it today! That's been about par for Gage's course of announcements with very soon remarks. They've shown up the next day in most cases if I remember correctly!
  • I hope it fixes my in app purchases. They are all lost in W10M
  • Oh I hope it is today! Hope we get some kind of official Astoria release soon too.
  • What WP has always lacked and probably always will lack is. ... PAZAAZ.. That special sparkle to make it noticed, perhaps if the phone had tight integration with an Xbox or PC, with phone notifications appearing on a big screen or PC screen, add in some home recognition WITH actual voice feedback, as it is the phone Xbox and PC are all still relatives and not all singing from the same song sheet, WP is like the rest, lackluster and just not advanced enough
  • If text message reply's on the lock screen worked it would be cool. And the other glitches, like screen flicker and sd cards worked properly... That would be cool.
  • The sd card issue is driving me crazy. I really hope its fixed in this build. That being said, I've been using this build for the last month on a 640 and it's good enough but I'm still having some outlook issues.
  • They need to fix the simple things which are basic to any OS, like customized ringtones for contacts, the very basic things which should have been there from the very start, that would be a welcomed response.
  • I have been using windows phone for quite some time, over 4 years now and actually left it for android which was intolerable and came back. My only wish for MS it's they make Nokia/Lumia as good as it was and bring out a flagship device once a year instead of every 2 or three years. I'm still using my 1520 and I love my phone but having to wait so long for another device as great as this phone has been dreadfully painful. Windows 10 is ok, I like most of it but as many have said it lacks the wow factor to bring Apple and Android fans over, until MS can bring that rabbit out of the hat trick it'll be just another nice OS. Come on MS fool us all and make a wow factor that leaves us scratching our heads and restores our faith in you.
  • It's rather ironic but android lollipop is really rather close to what windows mobile 6.5 was like in terms of work flow, feature set and capability - and android m more so, especially with the sd card support which pretty much is the msft windows phone implementation. The galaxy note 4 is pretty much an xda IIi with windows mobile 6.5. Full circle back to the early 00's. MSFT are so behind the curve. That's the problem. Ballmer was completely dismissive of the iphone and apps and consumerist phone ecosystems and then dropped windows mobile for wp7 and copied Apple. Big mistake. Now, finally, they're trying to get back on track but still are behind the curve. It's great they have recognised the main app devs treat wp as a joke and the new tools are enticing but it is the devs choice to jump on and msft have to make it enticing and all this Cortana bleating nonsense isn't all that. Outside of the (and this word is so daft in this context) "loyalists" who cares? Android runs on. Apple are releasing a new phone in September and anything coming after that is toast as the market suffers Apple purchasing saturation. It's hard for msft. They dug their own hole and willingly jumped in. Now they're climbing out. That aforementioned pazazz would really help. Where is it? In the transparent square tiles? Or the voice activated assistant that some people pretend is real and want to make love to it - an example of sociopathic, sycophantic delusional fixations if ever there was one... MSFT need to bring it if they want to court more consumers. I really hope they do. Make w10m compelling. Please.
  • Poirots Progeny    I think you are a little off-base about Cortana and not only that but very agressive too, but that's beside the point. I don't think you understand what Cortana is for. There are plenty of use cases and she is getting better all the time. In my case, I am very forgetful and will remember that I need to do something for later in the day early in the morning while at work. Normally by the time I'm at home I will have completely forgotten to accomplish the task that I need to do. With Cortana, when I remember that I need to do something I can quickly either talk to her or type to her that I want her to remind me when I get home (or set specific date and time) that I want to accomplish the task. The moment I drive up to my house she displays the reminder and I no longer forget that I need to do the task. If anything, Cortana is surprisingly something refreshing and ahead of the game to come out of Microsoft. She is also a great source of news so that you have personalized news each day. There are lots more that Cortana can do and it's really about helping you out with your work flow and processes. If you take a look at the product from a different angle you may realize how useful it is. Don't bash people simply because you don't understand how something works or what it is for.
  • USB OTG for sure
  • If i want to install new build (When available), What will i have to do? Just have to check for updates? And when we install new build on previous one, do it take same time and data? Or it is easy?
  • I'll be excited for my phone to work again...hopefully. Crashes frequently, the mail app won't show my mail, and the store doesn't work right.
  • I'm just waiting to see if a build fixes the camera on my 1020. all i get is "Something went wrong. If you need it, here's the error code: 0xA00F4246(0xE8010001)" I cannot find any fix for this and I've tried factory reset and still doesnt work
  • Why is it always Chinese first???
  • I was unable to wait for this build. So installed 10166 on my 640 XL. Works great! It's like getting a new phone. Only thing is that Gestures beta and live lock screen beta don't work. Hopefully they are there in the final build as built in features.
One handed usage has improved significantly. No issues whatsoever when using the phone the phone with one hand.
It would be really awesome if the next build have OTG support and project Astoria is supported for all phones and works even better than it does now(leaked one)
  • make new build for 4GB internal memory device i.e.lumia 530
  • 1.  Screen freezes during phone calls. 2.  Notifications sometimes don't fire when the phone is just sitting there, but then when I unlock, they all fire at once, so I've missed text messages 3.  camera button doesn't work from locked phone 4.  Pureview features, like 20MP pictures, 4K video, etc... 5.  Occasional crashes of the whole phone resulting in a reboot 6.  Bluetooth issues, especially with a car stereo.  7.  Hey Cortana 8.  Cortana with bluetooth and car stereo - it is so bad in both 8.1 and 10 as to be unusable. 9.  If I pin 2 different email accounts to my start screen, the counter of new emails shouldn't reset for both of them if I open just one. 10.  Onedrive upload of photos and videos.  How could this simple yet vital thing be missed ? 11. Internet sharing is hit or miss - won't work at all with my Surface 3 running Windows 10.
  • Get the outlook sh*t together... That's what I am looking for...  How can you call it an upgrade when it is much worse than the previous mail apps... Managing multiple accounts on outlook has been a nightmare!
  • Cool
  • Looking for stability and increased performance. Although a zillion times better in its current release its still laggy and reboots randomly, some apps will not load and the performance is still laggy and at times almost stops. Most of these issues are annoyances for me but some will have found them unusable.
  • Idky Chinese always have a first look.
  • Is Mix Radio available for Win Mo 10??????
  • Its so obvious Mucrosoft isn't so committed to Mobile. They've made being an insider for windows 10 mobile boring.
  • I hope the next build 10512b brings the Lumia apps to Windows Mobile 10. Im going on vacations on Saturday and if there is no Lumia apps till then Im going to switch back to 8.1.
  • There won't be. Lumia apps are being discontinued. Although I still have all of my Lumia apps installed and working on my 1020 with build 10166. I did a hard reset and they reinstalled by themselves.
  • Dear WP Santa:  Please bring me a fix for the SD card error, and let sound apps run under the lockscreen, so I can put the latest build on my 640.
  • Why people are complaining so much?!? Thats not the final version of WP 10. Its a develloper preview. of course como with many issues, bugs etc. Stop winning and go back to WP 8.1and when the official public WP10 release is avaliable download it and period! Damnnnn!!!!!!
  • I really don't like the new contacts live tile. The old one seemed a lot more fluid and impressive looking in animation than the new one with the round images. Same thing inside the hub itself...The round images for the contacts are so small, it's less beneficial (unless they plan on increasing their size). It's bad enough by rounding them, their cutting off a portion of the image as-is.
  • Does the preview work well with the 1020? Im thinking of finally using the technical preview once this comes out
  • It's live, I am downloading it now.
  • I'm already downloading build 10.0.10512.1000 on my Lumia 920.
  • Hopefully this built will suit fort daily use.
  • be warned leave your phone to download and update, same issue as other builds, if you dont things wont work. this process took me 3 hours on windows 10 phone to wait, ill comment in a few days when i have used it a little but leave it over night doing its thing or be very disapointed.  Im on a 50mbs connection so 3 hours for me from a fresh install with none of my apps was a awful long time. I noticed my mail box is showind both hotmail and gmail on my desktop 1 hour ago so heres hoping the mail app on phone will do the same, but i cant actuaslly get it to open my hotmail account or even update my gmail account at this time.
