Under a week after making its way to Fast ring Insiders, Windows 10 preview build 15048 is now rolling out to Slow ring Insiders on PC. As noted on its original release, there are no new features tagging along in this build. That said, there are a number of fixes to check out as we draw closer to a full Creators Update release. Here's a look at what's fixed.

What's fixed for PC?

  • We fixed the issue where some UWP apps may unexpectedly appear with their app package name in the title bar as opposed to the app name. A lot of you sent us screenshots of this in the - Feedback Hub and we were able to debug the issue quickly. Thank you!.
  • [GAMING] We fixed the issue where some popular games might minimize to the taskbar when launched.
  • We fixed an issue where copy and pasting URLs to and from the Microsoft Edge address bar with spaces wouldn't convert spaces into %20.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in the LastPass extension for Microsoft Edge sometimes unexpectedly failing to show its autofill buttons on recent builds.
  • We fixed a recent issue resulting in unexpected characters sometimes being pasted when pasting into certain websites using Microsoft Edge.
  • We fixed an issue where using the mouse wheel to scrolling in Microsoft Edge might not work if the window was made smaller or moved to a different monitor.
  • We adjusted Microsoft Edge's "Find on page" logic so that now as you go through the results the webpage should scroll so the found text is more central on the page.
  • We fixed an issue for those flighting recent builds on laptops, changing brightness would stop working after the first time the laptop lid had been closed and reopened when the "Lid Close Action" power policy was set to "Do nothing".
  • We fixed an issue that could result in not being able to type into search boxes in certain UWP apps.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in clicked Cortana search results not opening when typing using the MS Pinyin IME.
  • We fixed an issue where cross device notifications from a particular phone might unexpectedly appear in two separate groups in the Action Center.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in emails from Outlook 2016 not opening in the foreground after tapping on the corresponding notification.

Known Issues for PC

  • If you did the workaround to fix the corrupted registry key to get Build 15042, please DO this to re-enabled IPv6. (opens in new tab)
  • Some PCs will fail to update to this build at 71% and roll-back to the previous build. See this forum post for details. (opens in new tab)
  • If you have Symantec/Norton anti-virus software installed on your PC, you may get an 0x80070228 error when attempting to download this build. See this forum post for details. (opens in new tab)
  • If you have additional language packs installed, this build will fail to download and install. You can follow the steps in this forum post to get unblocked. (opens in new tab)
  • [GAMING] Certain hardware configurations may cause the broadcast live review window in the Game bar to flash Green while you are Broadcasting. This does not affect the quality of your broadcast and is only visible to the Broadcaster.
  • Issues may occur when exploring pages using the F12 Developer Tools in Microsoft Edge with cross-origin iframes (e.g. the DOM explorer shows only the iframe DOM, the Console frame selector doesn't list the iframes, etc.).
  • Pressing F12 to open the Developer Tools in Microsoft Edge while F12 is open and focused may not return focus to the tab F12 is opened against, and vice-versa.
  • Sometimes launching F12 will launch the F12 window behind the active Microsoft Edge window.
  • Insiders with multiple monitors may encounter an issue where one of the monitors stops rendering (with the exception of the mouse). While rebooting will fix it, you can also resolve the issue via Settings > System > Display under the Multiple displays section, set it to only use the monitor that's functional, then set it back to "Extend these displays" and the issue should be resolved.

  • I've moved up to slow ring on my 950xl but i think I'm going to hold off a little longer on my desktop. Still a few nagging issues I'd prefer not to deal with.
  • Still stuck in build 15031. I just downloaded 15048 (RS2) but it's not installing.
  • I see 15047
  • That for mobile. 15048 is pc
  • Oh.
  • should see a new one for pc and mobile tomorrow though :)
  • 15048 has introduced a new problem for my Surface that I didn't have before. Often when I resume from a sleep state my screen won't turn back on. I get haptic feedback from the Windows button, so I know it's on, but I can force the screen to wake. I have to power down with the power button, then power back up. Happens multiple times per day (happened 10 minutes ago). Not sure what's causing it at this point.
  • Same here
  • same here
  • Glad to know it's not just me
  • Same here. Also 3 BSOD's all with different stop codes.
  • This is a frustrating problem that's plagued Windows tablets. I've had three different tabs, all different makes and models and at one point or another, they've all exhibited that same behavior.
  • On this build specifically or other builds as well?
  • I've been living with that problem for a few builds now. You're not alone.
  • You're not alone sir. Same here
  • The very first build hitting more than 15000ish build number for Slow Ring. Sorry, I jumped out to fast ring yesterday because I was too impatient.
  • No, it installed for me with no problems on fast ring.
  • Wouldn't upgrade from 15046 in the Fast ring. Fails and rolls back at 71%. Only way I got any builds to install since 14986 has been via ISO.
  • Went from 046 to 048 with no problems here
  • Same here. I have no problems updating on Mobile, but can't seem to update on desktop without an ISO.
  • Dupe.
  • Had no issues to upgrade here despite having two language packs installed. Worth a try if it's the case.
  • Why my Lumia 920 is not getting any update after anniversary update
  • If your 920 is already on RS1 (meaning you spoofed it), then you'll get RS2.

  • Has the YouTube bug in Edge been fixed where no tube videos would load because of a new security feature they were trialing?
  • Good question. That is a particularly vexing problem. I did read that if you launch the page in "in private" mode, you can view YouTube videos. That works, but it's another step and can be a little annoying. Hope they fixed this! Anybody?
  • Okay, I updated with no problems...and just tried YouTube and it seems to be working fine again. Yeah!
  • Is this build polished enough for RTM? Those bugs could be squashed with patch. I don't want to install another Slow ring build bf the big release ...
  • I am having issues installing build 15048 on pc. Any solutions?
