Windows 10 preview build 16296 heads out to Slow ring Insiders

Hot on the heels of a new Fast ring build, Microsoft has also rolled out a fresh build on the Slow ring. Build 16296 is now available for Slow ring Insiders to download, bringing along just a few bug fixes. Here's a recap of what's new in build 16296:

  • We fixed an issue where Hyper-V couldn't create a VM on 3rd party network storage.
  • We fixed an issue where for the first few minutes after clean installing a non-English build many inbox app names might unexpectedly appear with English app names.
  • We fixed an issue where gaming apps using WebView with heavy use of HTML canvas might have unexpectedly had very low FPS in recent flights.

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is due for release on October 17, and Microsoft has gone into overdrive squashing bugs ahead of time — hence the recent lack of new features. If you're on the Slow ring, you can grab build 16296 via Windows Update now.

  • So long since the last Skip Ahead build. Seriously, Skip Ahead feels like the Ultra Slow Ring right now. I'm regretting switching to it, but I'm afraid if I switch back then they'll release something I want and I won't be able to get back in ...
  • well you don't much long to wailt 8 build been work on 16367.2 to 17004.1000 in the last 10 days
  • What a childish entitled tantrum
  • Do you disagree that we were promised something entirely different in Skip Ahead than we ended up with? Do you disagree that Skip Ahead has received zero new features from RS4 that were promised and now won't receive any until after FCU is released, all the while it's barely receiving even the bug fixes from Fast Ring?
