Windows Central photo contest: Water

The photo contest is back, and we've changed things up once again. We took a week off last week with it being the Easter holiday weekend for many of us on the Mobile Nations team. But now we're going to change it up again and we're giving more people more time to enter. The contests will now each run for two weeks, and we're going to try out some new prizes along with it.

You'll find all of the relevant information below. But onto this weeks topic, Water. Something commonplace in life, yet that still lends to taking many different styles of shot. The one up top is a quick sample I took this past weekend with the Lumia 640 XL on a gloomy afternoon. But you guys will certainly do better.

So, to the rules and a little housekeeping, announcing the winner of the last weekly photo contest!

Weekly photo contest winner: Filters - Future Fossil

Another tough week to choose from but this sunrise from Future Fossil really caught our eye shot on a Lumia 928. Congrats!

Rules for this week's contest

Rules are going to be just like every week:

  • Picture must be taken with a Windows Phone
  • Picture must be uploaded to the contest thread (linked below)
  • You have to tell us what device you used to take the picture, and any special software or apps you might have used. Editing your pictures is fine, this is art
  • Feel free to add a little back story, we want to know how the picture came to be
  • You must have used a valid email address to register here at Windows Central, so I know how to contact the winner
  • Only ONE entry per week per person

How to use Tapatalk to post images in the Windows Central forums

We've got a great walkthrough on how to do just that!

Share any pictures you take for the contest on Instagram, Twitter and Fhotoroom using the following hashtags. It's a fun way to at a glance check out your competition and get inspiration. Plus we're building a community of Windows Phone mobile photographers!

Here's how it looks this week.

  • #WCpc
  • #WaterWC

This doesn't count as your entry; it's just a fun way to track the photos on social media. Your entry still needs to be in the forums!

We're changing up the prizes a little bit from now on. This weeks winner will get an LG Tone Pro headset courtesy of the Windows Central Store. Find out more about it here{.nofollow}

We'll pick a winner next Saturday night (April 25) at 11:59 PM ET. Winners will be announced in a blog post for the contest next week.

Quick PSA: We've set up dedicated sub-forum in the Windows Central forums to keep the photo contests in one location going forward. You should bookmark this page, so you never miss a contest.

Good luck and have fun!

  • Very neat! I've never actually done a Windows Central photo contest, I think I might try it this week. Thanks Richard!
  • Same here, Zack The Never, dont you have a popular Youtube channel?
  • Not really lol, I have not made a YouTube video in a while.
  • Yeah seems legit. Got some ideas.
  • I've entered a few times. This one could get really interesting.
  • Interesting subject, but why do you not add uploading into your app? Seems silly that I need another app for that...
  • Cuz this is windows phone. Nothing is that easy. It would be required to "just work"
  • Lol. I laugh but sadly, you might be right. Though, the reddit apps allow picture upload, not sure why WC couldn't do it too
  • I even tried to use the Tapatalk app, and the Contest thread wouldn't even open in the app. It only opened a browser so I had to use my PC to upload a pic.
  • To be honest WC app need a lots of work, I would actually be really glad if the comment section worked like in a youtube app. And design-wise its very 7.5ish so I would work on that too.
  • Lumia 1020 FTW
  • The last link is broken: http://http//...
  • Confession: I live on an island. It rains 155" a year on average. The hardest part is going to be picking a picture and handing tissues to all the non-winners! Of course I am kidding. Love seeing everyone's pics!
  • I live in California so uh yeah lol.
  • You can just take a picture of some alfalfa and almonds, aka: where the water went!
  • can we watermark out photo incase people steals them?
  • Ofc but why? If the same photo is uploaded they'll notice.
  • Has anyone successfully opened one of the links posted using thE WC app? Its supposed to take you to another post within the app but when I try, it seems to load forever and I just back out at that point
  • Gonna get some Berkshire county Massachusetts love in here for probably the first time :)
  • Wonder how my HTC 8x will fare against the variety of superior quality Lumia cameras.
  • Innovation matters, not the camera. I mean look at iPhones.. xD
  • It'll be mostly on par with those hi-end lumias (I have a Lumia 820, 8X and Ativ SE and the photo quality is in exactly the same order)
  • no responses from wppc so I guess I am excluded from the contest
  • I can't use tapatalk to upload from my phone. It keeps open the webpage of PhotoContest on IE. Fix it please
  • How to post the pics??
  • Is this contest applicable for India?
  • Cropped down, here's the link to the full size: Taken while on my rowing training camp in a place called Soustons, in the south of France, using my Lumia 930 and the Lumia Refocus app. Due to the dock being slightly off level, it's not quite perfect, but hey.
  • That is nice!
  • This going to be my first entry as well
  • Have tried several times to upload with tapatalk. Just doesn't work...
  • The Future Fossil pic has an Alan Wake-type of aura to it. Great shot!
  • Is this for Bangladesh?
  • Still I dint get any proper way to upload photo for the contest
  • Is this contest applicable in India..
  • Europe?
  • Is it ok if I use a Facebook account to join this contest? Because I see that the rules require an account with valid email.
  • Cant upload my pic to windows central forums using tapatalk. The only option available in my windows central photography forum is the photography lounge, no photography contest option available......... Please help.
