Hotel Finder by Melon Mobile is a simple, yet effective Windows Phone app to help you find a hotel when traveling. Hotel Finder uses your Windows Phone location services to chart your location on the map and then adds all the hotels in your area.
Hotel Finder has a hotel database of over 230,000 hotels wordwide. Searches can be filtered and results include ratings from other travelers to give you a better feel for things. Hotel Finder isn't loaded down with a lot of bells and whistles but it does a really nice job of helping you find a place to stay.
The map view has a keyword search field at the top of the screen so you can search locations or for a specific hotel name. Just below the keyword search is a set of filters where you can thin out the hotels by price and/or rating.
Hotel Finder's map is touch navigable and hotels are flagged by color based on price and the flag includes the hotel's star rating. At the bottom of the screen are four buttons and the number of hotels displayed on the map. The buttons allow you to toggle between the map view and a list view, view your favorite hotels, center the map on your location and access the app settings.
Settings for Hotel Finder cover language support, currency choice, location services on/off and confirmation when exiting the app.
In tapping an individual hotel listing you can view a summary of the hotel that includes amenities, rates and the option to book a room through Booking.com. There is also a Pictures Page, Information Page, and a Facilities Page highlighting more detail on that particular hotel. At the bottom of the hotel listing pages are button controls to view the hotel on the map, share the hotel information via Facebook, Twitter or email, add the hotel as a favorite, and get directions to the hotel from your current location.
While I don't travel much, I can see where Hotel Finder can come in handy for those who do find themselves on the open road more often. Hotel Finder offers a simple, straight forward means to finding a hotel that is close by. Being a free app for your Windows Phone makes Hotel Finder a steal of a deal and likely a must have app for the Windows Phone traveler.
You can find Hotel Finder here at the (opens in new tab) Windows Phone Marketplace and again, it is a free Windows Phone app.

Pretty good app... I'm travelling at moment so it's good timing. I like the UI, however it needs more filtering options such as room-type (I'm not interested in dorm-rooms) and facilities (WiFi, shared or ensuite bathroom etc).
George, I couldn't even read the article, with that hideous Tide crest on the phone book in the picture...lol. We will get our revenge this year, when you guys come to Death Valley! Go Tigers!!!
Marketplace seems down? Tried grabbing this and another app featured by app deals and I get errors. Please censor this post also...
Did you just scan the QR code? I just got it with no issues, sort of odd.
Clicked the DL link in the WPCentral app. Just tried again, still errors. Restarted phone, still errors. Maybe its a Verizon thing...
I just got it w the QR code. Though the app isn't finding any hotels, and searching on Anaheim or Disneyland returns zilch. Not impressed.
Just scan the QR code with Bing. That is the easiest way to get the app.
Thanx all seems to be working now
Such a great APP!!!!! WOW!
Pity I didn't know about this three months ago .. would have really helped with my holiday planning :(
As long as you have internet on you iPhone I don't think you need a hotel finder application, it's just as easy to use the internet maps, I use that all the time to find hotels and it works just fine for me.
