World of Warcraft: Classic launches in August for PC

A few months ago, Blizzard and GOG announced a partnership to bring the original Diablo to Windows though the Steam-like platform. However, the companies also said that there were plans to being Warcraft and Warcraft II to modern devices. Among those announcements, you may have missed plans to launch World of Warcraft: Classic sometime in 2019. While we suspected that the game would launch in the summer, it seems that our suspicions have been confirmed. Today, Blizzard shared a release date alongside additional details.

According to a report by IGN, World of Warcraft: Classic will be released for PC on August 27. A collector's edition with a stunning statue will also be available for purchase.

On August 27, players will be able to return to Azeroth as it was during the Drums of War update, and all will have the honor of once again being able to assemble a forty-player raid to take on the fiery hazards of Molten Core, fight for their faction in the ongoing world... struggle between Southshore and Tarren Mill, muster a realm-wide war effort to open the gates of Ahn'Qiraj, and much more.

That's not all though. On May 15, select World of Warcraft players — probably the most active — will be invited to play in a small beta test. Even more stress tests are scheduled after that until July.

The collector's edition will be released on October 8 for $100 and can only be preordered from Blizzard's Gear Store. Are you interested in playing World of Warcraft: Classic? Let us know.
