The Xbox Series X is almost upon us. Launching in around a year from now, the beastly next-gen Xbox console is expected to push 4K resolutions as standard with 60 frames per second, with developers able to reach for 8K 120 FPS in some scenarios. The most striking thing about it, thus far, is the design.

The Xbox Series X is monolithic in its design, prompting a wave of memes comparing it from everything to refrigerators to the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The cuboid shape has vast potential to lend itself to limited-edition versions too, and one prolific 3D artist on Twitter has given us a glimpse at what this might look like.

XboxPope on Twitter makes a range of amazing fan concepts for limited edition video game consoles, mostly Xbox. He's turned his creative eye to building a Halo-oriented Xbox Series X, with a textured UNSC armor design that looks similar to the game's tanks and other military vehicles and weapons. He's also built concepts for Cyberpunk 2077, Hellblade II, and Gears of War. They all look truly incredible, and we can't wait to see the first limited edition consoles that emerge from Microsoft's design team.

What sort of limited edition Xbox Series X consoles would you like to see? Let us know.

  • This is awesome. If this was the Day 1 edition(which I will be getting) it would sell out!
  • Pretty sure you'll have to tilt the console to the right in order for it to be placed into the horizontal orientation - Not left as he has depicted it.
  • I was thinking the same thing. Disc slot is probably at the top of the console in horizontal position, IR receiver and button at the bottom. The 360 and OneX also have bottom in vertical = left side in horizontal configurations. (rotate clockwise to get from vertical to horizontal)
  • Wow! those look awesome, somehow I think the Halo version is the sweetest.
  • I would like a translucent Halo green system, like the OG halo xbox. Or maybe orange that was used for the Xbox Live beta accessories
  • They look absolutely amazing.
  • I'm hoping they do a "Project Scarlett" version in a cool dark red color, a la the "project Scorpio" Xbox One X.
  • The Halo one is easily the best, the Hellblade one, while impressive, doesn't really evoke the game at all. Gears one s too unoriginal. I don't know what I think about the Cyberpunk offering, I mean the colour scheme is fantastic but it'd be nice if they gave a better view of the design on the side as that is the most interesting thing about it.
  • I hope Xbox series X exist in white
Where is the power supply ?
