You can now preorder the new Surface Laptop 2 starting at $999

Surface Laptop 2 preorders are now live on the Microsoft Store, with prices starting at $999 for the entry level model. Unlike last year, the new Surface Laptop 2 doesn't have a 4GB configuration, which explains the price bump for the "entry" model. Base spec now features 8GB RAM and an Intel Core i5 processor, with no Intel Core m3 option in sight.

The Surface Laptop 2 features a 13.5-inch PixelSense display, with an Intel 8th Gen processor and integrated graphics. Weirdly, there are no USB-C ports present on this years model, something many were hoping to see in a refreshed Surface Laptop. Shipments for the new Surface Laptop are expected to begin on October 16.

  • No USB-C, No Problem
  • What's the price if u spec it up
  • I really don't care about USB-C but i care even less about mini displayport.
I'm really disappointed, not for me but for the people that wanted USB-C.
  • I assume no SD card expansion? Is there ANY difference with the SL2 compared to the SL1 apart from 1 extra generation of processor (and getting rid of the base spec models) Any cosmetic improvements?
  • Should be quad core rather than dual
  • Does this come with windows 10 s, home or pro?
  • Does anyone know how the surface pen works on the SL2? This is the only thing holding me back from a Surface Laptop. I have a Surface Pro 3 and use the pen frequently.
  • It does
  • You'd have to support the screen with your non-dominant hand while you ink. If you write or draw a lot, get the Surface Pro instead.
