Official MyFitnessPal app updated for Windows Phone 8, with new features and look

While everyone was celebrating yesterday about Mint.com jumping on Windows Phone I was still anxiously awaiting for MyFitnessPal to get bumped to Windows phone 8. For those of you who don’t know, MyFitnessPal is a free service for monitoring what you eat (calories, exercise, and planning). It also syncs nicely with FitBit which is why I primarily use it.

Today, MyFitnessPal has been bumped to version 2.0, optimized for Windows Phone 8. Such features include double wide tile support, the ability to pin sub-sections to your Start screen, and fast-resume, which means the app no longer needs to refresh when reloaded.

The ability to pin sub-sections is really quite awesome and useful. For instance, users can now pin quick entry section for entry or bar code scanning, what they are eating for lunch, or punch in a quick cardio exercise they were doing. You can also pin your stats tile, which will flip around and show you your daily goals for calories with your profile photo to boot.

The app itself also received a bit of a makeover as well, looking more Modern UI, with flat fonts and a deeper blue color scheme. While not a complete revamp, it certainly looks up to Windows Phone 8 standards compared to the previous version.

Update or download MyFitnessPal for Windows Phone 8. You can hit up this link to grab it from the Store, use the QR code below, or swipe to the right in our app.

Thanks for the tip BJ Nonnis.

Stop doing that. You're not first and it serves no purpose to say first. If you have nothing good to say, then don't say it at all.

I use it primarily for planning what I'm going to eat during the day, and the Runtastic integration. Actually, the app update just made me go onto the website and update my profile and settings extensively. (I didn't know so many options and features were available.)

If only I had friends using it... (They've hidden the daily nutrition roundup to show the friends feed, which is blank with me.)

This is a major revamp of the earlier version.
Noticed that for us metric users it only shows in imperial...

Trying to set up an account, almost all options such as birthdate, activity level, work out length etc reset back to their defaults after they have been selected. Frustrating.

I experienced the same issue. I saved what I could in the registration process and then after completion edited my profile. Its correct now.
