Classic action-RPG Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim journeys to Windows PC via Steam next week

23

Last week, we reviewed a Steam game called Gurumin: a Monstrous Adventure from Nihon Falcom, creators of the action-RPG series Ys. Although Ys is a long-running and beloved series among old-school gamers, many Xbox players are unlikely to be familiar with it. Newer entries have largely appeared on PlayStation consoles and portables. Luckily, four Ys games are available on Windows PCs via Steam.

Windows gamers now have another Ys to look forward to, as XSEED Games has announced that Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim will be coming to Steam and GOG.com. We don't have long to wait either. The Ark of Napishtim will launch on April 28th. With several graphical enhancements and an all-new translation, this is one game that fans of classic action-RPGs won't want to miss.

Read on for our full preview with trailer, screenshots, and concept art!

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Xbox One review

When Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launched on previous-gen platforms in October of 2014, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 had already been available for nearly a year. Many Borderlands fans like me who would otherwise be the prime target of The Pre-Sequel had already moved on to new consoles. We all hoped and/or expected Gearbox and 2K to port the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 where it would look and run better than any Borderlands console game before it.

This year, we got our wish! Not only did The Pre-Sequel recently make its way to new-gen consoles, it also brought Borderlands 2 along for the ride. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection bundles the second and third games in the series (but not the first) and all of their downloadable content (that's a LOT of DLC) in one $60 retail or downloadable package. No, you can't get them separately.

Players who have already completed both games on other platforms might not be eager to buy this new collection, but everyone else – even if you already played one or the other – should give The Handsome Collection a serious look. Read on for our detailed review with gameplay video!

Windows Store Collection: Comic Book Fans

This week we are setting aside our Windows Phone and taking a look at one of the Collections in the Windows Store. As many know, the Windows Phone Store has a series of Collections that pulls together Windows Phone games or apps that are from the same genre such as shopping apps, photography apps or racing games.

The Windows Store also has a large selection of Collections that focus on Windows 8 apps and games. These Collections are very similar to those we have become familiar with in the Windows Phone Store and cover categories of Windows 8 titles such as hidden object games, apps for music lovers, racing games and more.

For this week's roundup, we are focusing on the Windows Store Collection Comic Book Fans. It is one of the smaller collections but focuses on apps and games that delivers the comic book experience to your Windows 8 device. We've pulled four of the titles to highlight this week that you may appealing.

Xbox is hitting Windows 10 in a big way later this year.

In addition to this, independent developers will be able to include Xbox APIs into their games that appear in the Windows app store via the ID@Xbox program, currently available only on Xbox One.

I caught up with ID@Xbox head Chris Charla to discuss how the program has been faring so far, ID@Xbox for Windows 10 (phones too!), and more!
