Asphalt 8: Airborne racers can drive in the streets of Rio with the latest update

Gameloft has updated its best-selling racing title Asphalt 8: Airborne, adding the new location of Rio among its new content. The update is available for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile, with a separate download for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on the PC.

The new Rio track is a pretty obvious, if unofficial, tie-in to the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games that will be held in that city in earlier August. Here's the full list of what's new in the update:

  • NEW LOCATION: Discover the bustling streets of Rio. From its impressive mountains to the incredible beaches, dive into this very exotic city!
  • LOGIN REWARDS: Check in on the game every day for increasingly awesome prizes with our Daily Login Rewards.
  • VIP SYSTEM: Now there's even more value in every purchase as each one boosts your VIP status, granting you extra rewards, special boxes, exclusive cars and more!
  • NEW CARS: New cars are just 'round the bend! So check in often to catch the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Donkervoort D8 GTO, Fenyr Supersport and more.
  • NEW EVENTS: More Enduro Double Down and R&D events are here! Overcome the challenges & bring some sweet rides home.

  • I play this game everyday. Very cool Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Does that mean the cars will develop electrical faults, the bridges will collapse and I'll be forced to take out money at gun point? I kid I kid...
  • Glad to hear about this update.
  • The update rolls back progress in some multiplayer events. And you lose your daily bonus.
  • The game now downloads in 3 stages. 1. from the marketplace, 2. when you open it the first time, 3. in game. If you're nervous about data caps make sure you are on WiFi all the way onto the game!
  • It seems, this time, Windows users got to taste the new update before their Android friends could! I came across a lot of Android users asking when they would receive the update and according to Asphalt, the Android Update might get a bit delayed depending on the country. Never thought I would see this happening!
  • i think the most important event of asphalt 8 is still left out; which is the police pursuit event where players can play as the corp ramped and criminals as well all smothered with realistic voice communication of the corps. this will be the real update to me
  • nice cars and maps
