Björk partners with HTC to bring the world's first VR album to the Vive

Björk is debuting a unique virtual reality exhibition to kickstart the Björk Digital tour. The experience features four music videos set to tracks from last year's Vulnicura album, which will be showcased on the HTC Vive. The exhibition is kicking off this Friday in Sydney, and will head to other cities — including Tokyo, London, Paris, and Houston — in the coming months.

Attendees to the exhibition will be able to experience the videos through HTC Vive units in a communal viewing room, and the clips will be available for download on the VR headset at a later date. Björk shared a preview on Instagram:

The exhibition will also include the premiere of the Notget music video in VR:

The world premiere of Notget in VR combines high resolution 3D scans, on-location holostudio, motion capture and videogrammetry along with real-time special audio design that envelopes and embeds the user into Björk's performance. These digital assets are blended together to create an ever evolving and changing digital form of particles, light and sound that inhabits the space with you.

According to Rikard Steiber, SVP Virtual Reality at HTC:

With Vive we are focused on bringing a fully immersive experience to our users, and this partnership with Björk felt like a really natural fit. Björk is a pioneer of using technology to immerse listeners in her music, and the visual concepts created as part of Björk Digital are fantastic. We're delighted to be able to work with Björk to offer such a unique experience to fans.
