DayZ studio possibly working on Xbox exclusive featuring nuclear apocalypse

Bohemia Interactive is the well-known developer behind games like ARMA and DayZ. While DayZ is still on track for a 2018 release on Xbox One, it seems like the studio is teaming up with Microsoft for a new exclusive. After a cryptic Mixer broadcast which simply said to tune into Inside Xbox on June 11, 2018 aired, Petr Kolář, a Project Lead at Bohemia Interactive, said that the game was an Xbox One exclusive built on Unreal Engine 4.

Hopefully this is a new game and not a project related to DayZ. E3 2018 is right around the corner so we'll have our answer soon. It's unclear what the game is about, but we do know that it revolves around the question of what happens when humanity falls. Society probably collapses and there's lawlessness everywhere. The Mixer teaser showcases a gun, knife, a few bullets, a tomato-shaped container, and a newspaper which reads "Atom Bombs Hit Europe".

Let's hope that this is an adventure game because surviving in Europe after a nuclear war seems like an interesting concept. However, given the popularity of the battle royale genre, it might be related to that in some way.

We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about the project. As with any such leak, take it with a grain of salt until we have official confirmation. New information about DayZ on Xbox One, and possibly a release date, is also expected at E3 2018. Unreal Engine 4 seems like it's tricky to master on consoles, so Bohemia Interactive may need to put in a lot of work if it wants the same technical polish as a game like Gears of War 4.
