In case you're unaware, The Long Dark is an open-world, survival game where you play as Will Mackenzie, a bush pilot who has to survive the cold, harsh wilderness of Northern Canada after a strange phenomenon causes his plane to crash.

The trailer for Episode 4 shows that Will meets other survivors in this frozen wasteland who are holing up in a maximum-security prison. However, things are not what they seem as these survivors aren't too friendly towards our hero, and they seem to be cautious of a mysterious, unnamed woman overseeing the facility.

Critics and fans have widely praised The Long Dark for its challenging gameplay that tests players' resourcefulness in figuring out how to survive against the elements, and for its thought-provoking story told through episodic chapters. Throughout the episodes, Will has to figure the mystery of what caused his plane to crash, rescue his colleague Dr. Astrid Greenwood, and hopefully make it out alive in one piece.

The last episode released, called Crossroads Elegy, came out in 2019, so it's been a long journey for The Long Dark fans. This is supposed to be a five-episode saga, and the status of the final episode remains unknown at this time.

Fury, then Silence will be released on Oct. 6, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch. The Long Dark is considered to be one of the best survival games for Xbox, and time will tell if its fourth episode will continue to expand upon its intriguing narrative.
