Final Fantasy 12 and X|X-2 Xbox One remasters go up for preorder (update)

Updated January 10, 2019: Final Fantasy X|X-2 launches on April 16, 2019 and Final Fantasy 12 launches on April 30. Both titles will be available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

A few months ago, Square Enix announced that a slew of Final Fantasy games were coming to Xbox One. Many of these titles had previously been PlayStation 4 exclusives, much to the dismay of gamers who preorder other consoles. Luckily, that's about to change in 2019 with the release of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Remastered and Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster for Microsoft's machine. You can even preorder the titles right now on Amazon.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Remastered

Enter an era of war within the world of Ivalice. The small kingdom of Dalmasca, conquered by the Archadian Empire, is left in ruin and uncertainty. Princess Ashe, the one and only heir to the throne, devotes herself to the resistance to liberate her country. Vaan, a young man who lost his family in the war, dreams of flying freely in the skies. In a fight for freedom and fallen royalty, join these unlikely allies and their companions as they embark on a heroic adventure to free their homeland. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Remastered improves upon the 2006 classic Final Fantasy XII, now more beautiful and easier to play than ever. The high-definition remaster introduces several modern advancements, including reconstructed battle design and a revamped job system.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Remastered costs $49.99 for Xbox One.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster

Final Fantasy X tells the story of Tidus, a star blitzball player who journeys with a young and beautiful summoner named Yuna on her quest to save the world of Spira from an endless cycle of destruction wrought by the colossal menace known as Sin. Final Fantasy X-2 returns to the world of Spira where High Summoner Yuna travels with her companions Rikku and Paine to unravel the mysteries of the messages hidden in the spheres she hunts, not knowing that the answers she seeks may change everything.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster costs $49.99 for Xbox One.

  • Now we are talking. Turn based Final Fantasy. Not the rubbish they make now. Funny thing is people try and say turn based wouldn't sell now. Funny how FF10 sold over 10 million copies and it was turn based. The next game wasn't turn based and sold less than 6 million. So it seems leaving turn based behind upset people.
  • Whoever those people are should probably ask Nintendo how Pokémon is selling...
  • Those anti-turn based people are imbeciles with very short attention spans.
  • 10 and 12 are two of the best in the series. 12 has one of my favourite battle systems to date as well! I'm looking forward to replaying both some time on PC It's been a long while since last playing on PS2.
  • Cool... Possibly the 3 worst final fantasy games lol. Well, XII gets a worse rap than it really deserves, but X is god awful.
  • What was so bad about it?
  • About X? It was a huge step backwards. Went from an open world map to a series of glorified corridors. It was basically Crash Bandicoot with random battles.
  • Maybe my memory escapes me. I didn't play nine, but i don't recall ten being that much different than seven or eight. Until the last one, which has its downsides, everything after twelve has been disappointing to me.
  • Are you thinking of FFXIII?
  • Final Fantasy X was excellent! It was my favorite Final Fantasy and I played them all. I'm glad the Japanese share my point of view and don't have your taste in games! Sheesh. I agree about XII though. It was hated when it came out so it's very funny to see people gush over it now.
  • You seem to be contradicting yourself a bit... You say the Japanese share your views on games, but above you condemn people who don't like turn based games as imbeciles... Final Fantasy games aren't turn based anymore, so which is it? Besides, it's a bit silly to claim I'm at odds with an entire nation because I don't like a single 17 year old game. Especially considering the literal thousands of hours I've dumped into JRPGs, not to mention other Japanese games, over the years... I'm guessing FFX was your first, I've never met anyone else who ranks it number one.
  • finally, the best final fantasy game comes to xbox. Final Fantasy XII.
hopefully there will be a special collectors edition like there was on PS4.
  • XBOX needs to negotiate when it comes to these previously released titles. They should always be 100% Play Anywhere.
I don't have time to play these titles yet again with all the other games out...but. I will purchase these, even if not to play them, to support them on XBOX.
