FFXIV game director Naoki Yoshida intends to work on the MMO for another 10 years

  • There will be a live stream in February detailing future content for FFXIV: Endwalker and Square Enix will show a preview of Patch 6.1 in March.
  • Yoshida also says that he intends to work on Final Fantasy XIV for another 10 years.

Yoshida then mentions that Square Enix will showcase a preview of Patch 6.1's content for Endwalker In March. The only piece of content that has been revealed for Patch 6.1 so far is that the Data Center Travel System will be implemented into the game as part of their plans to migitate server congestion. He also brings up that the upcoming Patch 6.08 will mostly feature numerical adjustments to player Jobs and that more major Jobs changes will be arriving in Patch 6.1.

Moving on from major announcements, Yoshida states that he's in good health and is willing to continue working on Final Fantasy XIV for another 10 years. Yoshida started working on Final Fantasy XIV all the way back in 2010 to help the, at the time, struggling MMORPG get back on track after a disasterous launch. Over the next decade, Yoshida and his team of development were able to help elevate Final Fantasy XIV into becoming the most profitable entry in the entire Final Fantasy franchise and one of the best multiplayer games on PC.
