Forza Motorsport 6: Apex halts at the pit stop for an update

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex on Windows 10 has picked up an update. The release appears to be a small one, clocking in at just 65MB, and contains minor fixes and enhancements to hardware detection. Since we're talking about the popular series of racing games, one could conclude this update makes the gameplay seem faster.

Here's what is new in version, according to the published changelog:

  • For users who run into driver issues with Apex, we have included information on the latest hardware driver available.
  • Fixed an issue with hardware detection whereby users with multiple GPUs were incorrectly being told they could not play Apex. This change will mostly affect laptop users with an embedded GPU.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you give our in-depth Forza 6 Apex preview a read through should you wish to learn more about the title, which can be downloaded for free from the Windows Store.

  • I get AP301 error message when launching on SP4. Is that incompatible? I have not found any usefull info online..
  • The game requires a minimum of an nVidia GeForce GT 740 or AMD Radeon R7 250X. The integrated Intel graphics on the Surface Pro 4 probably won't run it Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I've tried on my i5 Surface Pro 4 already, the game won't even launch and if it did, I doubt the performance of an Intel iGPU would be playable
  • You'd be surprised how capable the HD540 in the i7 is.
  • Press and hold Page Up as you click on the Quit button from the error box
  • This game need medium and high requirement spec. For old crap pc/ low end, throw away xD
  • So those people should then just play Forza 1 lol Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Or play it on Xbox one...
  • There are minimum specs. As always with games. I've played this at 720p with everything on low. It's not enjoyable. Looks like a kid drew the game with crayons.
  • Is anyone running this on a surface pro 3? I'm just wondering how well it runs.
  • Not going to work. Minimum requirements call for a GeForce GT 740 or Radeon R7 250X. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Thanks, I figured that the intel graphics wasn't strong enough. Just wasn't sure.
  • The good thing about owning a decent gaming pc with an old gpu is that I only have to buy a gpu to play this game. If I make my choice wise, I may not have to upgrade it for another 6 years or so
  • I just need one thing: That they change the sound of the McLaren P1, my favorite car. It's just wrong. I don't know how it sounds accurate in NFS Rivals, an arcade game, but not in Forza, a racing simulator.
  • I'm unable to download it from the store. The download button is frozen and it says my computer needs additional hardware (keyboard, mouse) which I do have :/
    Any fix for this?
  • This update was stuck for me last night. It would download the first 23MB then stop.
  • What a game.... Lovely
  • Lol
  • Any ETA on wheel support? Weeks? Months?
  • I'd like to know that too!! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • & the high spec requirements backfire
