Going as planned.

What you need to know
- The Game Developers Conference takes place every year and focuses on technology.
- This year, many worried it would be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
- It's going to go as planned, but with some restrictions.
- Developers from China will either not attend or will send American staff.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC) takes place every year and is regarded as one of the most important for game developers. This year though, many feared that it would be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak in China. The illness has killed over 1,000 people and that number continues to rise as more people succumb to it in China and elsewhere around the globe.
Daniel Ahmad, an analyst with Niko Partners, spotted a post on the conference's website which confirmed plans. You can take a look at the summary from Ahmad below. He highlights the important parts of the announcement.
GDC 2020 will take place as planned in March.
Companies based in China will either skip this year or only send US based staff. China based attendees will not attend this year (2% of total).

The GDC organizers recommend taking precautions against coronavirus by washing hands and practicing other sanitary protocols. Hopefully, it'll go smoothly this year despite the public health crisis that continues to worsen by the day.

I love how the article doesn't even mention where the event is.
-
Yeah, that would have been something to mention, but it is the first line in the screenshot.
-
It's because if you know GDC, you know it always takes place in San Francisco, or at least for the past 10+ years. Before that, it was in San Jose, so it's always been in the SF Bay Area.
-
Always been in the bay area... It's like E3 in LA, TGS in Tokyo, they always take place in the same location..

Makes sense. Its in the US. Corona Virus has been overblown massively. BBC in the UK reporting 0.4% mortality rate in 5-70 years Olds. Which is less than influenza. And for every 1 case, they believe 100 more where people don't realize they have it and think it's just a heavy cold. Most people at risk are the very same bracket that's at risk with Flu. Over 70s, people with weakened immune systems. Any conference in the US should in no way be stopped. Not remotely.
