Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is already on sale if you know where to look

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has just launched, marking the second major expansion for our favorite demon-slaying aRPG. If you’re a former Wanderer looking to jump back in but skipped the pre-order bonuses (perhaps because you’re cursed with the "affliction of employment" and were waiting for the weekend), you’re in luck.

The expansion is already 22% off at Loaded (the artist formerly known as CDKeys), where you can grab it for £27.99 for Xbox down from the standard £35.99.

Requires the base game, if you have Xbox Game Pass, you just need to purchase this expansion.

Includes Vessel of Hatred AND Lord of Hatred expansions, access to two new classes (Warlock and Paladin). Lord of Hatred concludes the Age of Hatred saga as you take on Mephisto for the final time in the new region of Skovos.

Is Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred worth buying?

You might think asking Windows Central’s resident Diablo superfan for an opinion wouldn't yield the most objective response; however, even I have taken a break recently. I appreciate that the seasonal format and constant resets can be fatiguing. In fact, the burnout was real enough that I haven't actually participated in the last couple of seasons.

Despite that break, I am completely confident that this is easily worth the £27.99 — whether you are a hardcore seasonal veteran or a casual player just here for the story.

Many of us fall in between those two ends of the spectrum, and I think most Diablo fans will be happy! But hey, don't just listen to me. Check out the reviews so far.

The game has undergone such a massive overhaul that it feels like a completely different experience now.

The new expansion marks the biggest rework of systems that Diablo 4 has ever implemented, and it really feels like Blizzard has had all hands on deck to get Lord of Hatred to represent the best Diablo 4 can be. And I really mean all hands on deck, they even dragged Korn kicking and screaming out of retirement to write a song and create a music video specifically for this expansion, pretty neat right?

I’m still working my way toward the endgame to formulate my final thoughts, but the game already has its hooks in me again. Between the ridiculously fun new Warlock class, the new talisman system, and how alive the region of Skovos feels, there is a lot to love. I’m honestly surprised to see Loaded offering this discount already, given the expansion only dropped at midnight for us in the UK.

If you fell off after a few seasons or only ever played the original campaign, this bundle is the perfect excuse to return. £27.99 for Vessel and Lord of Hatred is one hell of deal (sorry I had to put a pun somewhere)

FAQ

Do I need the base game of Diablo 4 to play Lord of Hatred?

Yes, you need to either own Diablo 4 base game, or be a current Xbox Game Pass subscriber (with which Diablo 4 is included)

Should I start a Seasonal or Eternal Realm character?

I always recommend a Seasonal character because you can play through the new campaign and decide later if you want to take part in the Season or not (as well as earn some extra rewards while you are playing). However, if you aren't likely to play past the Campaign or are likely to be flummoxed by extra content on the map, you can play on a new or existing Eternal Realm character.

What is the difference between the Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions of Lord of Hatred?

The difference is just in the included cosmetics and Platinum (shop currency). The standard edition on sale at Loaded will give you the same access to all the game content as the more expensive editions. There's a handy table over on Blizzard's website to compare.

If you are likely to want to purchase a battle pass too, I recommend grabbing the Deluxe edition, which includes one for £38.49.
