The ROG Xbox Ally X handheld gaming PC has sold more than ASUS ROG and Xbox expected, which has led to it being out of stock or on backorder at a few different retailers.

For instance, you can still put an order in for one for $999.99 at Best Buy (sorry, there are no Black Friday discounts), but new orders aren't expected to arrive until January 2, 2026. Still, this is one of the safest places to buy from.

Where to get an Xbox Ally X holiday 2025

  • eBayYou'll find people selling the Xbox Ally X for more than its $999.99 MSRP here, but if you really want to get one before Dec. 25, this might be your best bet. You might also find someone selling a used one, just be careful not to get scammed.
  • AliExpress — Once again, you'll typically find people selling the Xbox Ally X for much higher than MSRP here. Be careful not to buy from a shady seller, though.
  • Best Buy — Best Buy is my preferred seller for buying an Xbox Ally X from. Purchases are currently possible, but they won't arrive until Jan 2, 2026. This retailer also carries the handheld on store shelves, not just online, so you might get lucky and find one in stock near you.
  • Microsoft Store — Xbox (Microsoft) is one place where you can buy the Xbox Ally X from when it's in stock, but it was out of stock last time I checked.
  • Walmart — Some Walmart locations carry Xbox Ally X handhelds in their brick-and-mortar stores. You might be able to find one at a location near you. If you purchase through Walmart's website, be careful and note whether you're buying from Walmart itself or a third-party seller. It could be possible to get the Xbox Ally X before Christmas from a third-party seller, just be careful.
  • Newegg — You'll find both Newegg itself and third-party sellers selling the Xbox Ally X, so make sure you're aware of who you are buying from. Most third-party sellers will sell it higher than MSRP, but you could get it before Christmas if you find a safe seller.
  • Target — Target is one of the few retailers that carry Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X in its physical stores, so you might get lucky and find one at a location near you. However, they are out of stock online as of the last time I checked.

The Xbox Ally X can be ordered at Best Buy, but currently, orders placed aren't expected to arrive until Jan 2, 2026. This devices has an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip with 24GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. It can be used to play everything from casual games to compatible AAA games.

The less powerful Xbox Ally will arrive before Christmas, but it cannot run the latest AAA games since it utilizes a modest AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip with 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. It's especially good for cloud gaming and playing less-intensive games like 2D pixel art titles and indie games. As of right now, it should arrive before Christmas if you buy it during Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Unfortunately for everyone who wants to get an Xbox Ally X this holiday season, the handheld gaming PC is in short supply. As I mentioned earlier, you can still put an order in at Best Buy, but the retailer currently estimates that you won't get it until Jan 2, 2026, which is obviously after the holidays.

If you really don't want to wait until next year to get your hands on one, then there are a few places you can try, like eBay, AliExpress, and Facebook Marketplace. Just be careful since some people might want to scam you with deals that are too good to be true.

Tips for staying safe when buying an Xbox Ally X

  • Stick with highly rated sellers if you're buying from a third-party: Before buying an Xbox Ally X on sites like eBay, AliExpress, or Amazon, check the seller's rating and see if they have a decent track record. It's best to avoid sellers who don't have a rating at all, have hardly any ratings, or have an overall bad rating.
  • Do not let someone pressure you into making a hasty purchase: This is a tactic scammers use on third-party and second-hand sites such as Facebook Marketplace. The idea is to make you flustered so that you react quickly. If someone is pressuring you too much about buying the Xbox Ally X from them, don't buy from them.
  • Avoid a deal if it seems too good to be true: There are plenty of scammers out there who will take your money without giving you anything in return. If an Xbox Ally X is selling for far less than it's worth, it's probably a scam.
  • Be aware that someone might have altered a used Xbox Ally X: Like many PCs and gaming devices, it's possible for an Xbox Ally X to be tampered with to the point that it does not work properly. If you do intend to buy an Xbox Ally X second-hand, make sure you verify it is working before you finalize the purchase.

Handheld gaming PC FAQ

Can handheld gaming PCs run modern AAA games smoothly?

Yes, but it depends on the handheld and its configuration or internal hardware for what kind of games it can run. If you want to play AAA games, you'll need to make sure you buy a more powerful handheld gaming PC.

Will Steam, Xbox Game Pass, or Epic Games library work on handheld gaming PCs?

Yes, but the experience could be different depending on the handheld you get. Some PC gaming handhelds run Windows while others run SteamOS. The devices that run Windows (Xbox Ally X, Legion Go 2, etc.) can easily access a wide range of gaming services out of the box. However, you'll need to do some work on the Steam Deck and Legion Go S (SteamOS) first before you can access more than just Steam.

For help with that, check out my guide on how to Decky Loader on Steam Deck.

Are there any Xbox Ally X Black Friday deals?

Unfortunately, no. The Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally do not have any Black Friday deals so far this year.

Does GameStop sell Xbox Ally X?

No. GameStop does not sell Xbox Ally or Xbox Ally X handhelds. However, some locations will take these devices as trade-ins.

When is Black Friday 2025?

Black Friday 2025 is technically on Friday, November 28, 2025. However, various retailers have been introducing deals as early as a couple of weeks before then. As has been the case for several years, Black Friday deals will merge and give way to Cyber Monday deals.

When is Cyber Monday 2025?

Cyber Monday 2025 is Monday, December 1, 2025. Some Black Friday deals will continue through this event and will change in name only. However, several new Cyber Monday deals are likely to sprout up on that Monday and some will continue throughout the week.
