High-end Surface Laptop now set to start shipping on June 30

If you're looking to get your hands on the new Surface Laptop with maxed-out specs, it looks like you won't have to wait quite as long as originally anticipated. The high-end model with an Intel Core i7 processor, 1TB of storage, and 16GB of RAM was originally set to ship on August 15, but shipping dates have now moved up to June 30. (opens in new tab)

Surface Laptop is available for preorder now through the Microsoft Store in six configurations, starting with the $999 Intel Core i5 model with 4GB of RAM.

Update: An earlier version of this article incorrectly reported it as the Surface Pro, but it's the Surface Laptop that is shipping earlier.

Thanks to Rick G. for the tip!

  • Any word on LTE models, will that be available on all processor options?
  • Not until the fall, unfortunately
  • I know this thread is getting jumbled now that the article was updated to reference the Surface Laptop instead of the Surface Pro, but do you think the Surface Pro core i7 option will have an LTE option?
  • I don't think SP i7 will have LTE, I think they use the fan location for the LTE module which would only work on the fanless models, but that's just an educated guess on my part.
  • Read that way too quickly at first and thought it was the 512GB version. Seeing as we might not have the pen at release and other countries are having issues with the keyboards it isn't that surprising. Seems like the sales team got ahead of the hardware / production team.
  • I think now is the best time buy I high end surface pro 4 since their prices will be dropped
  • So is this the LTE available one?
  • No, not until the fall or late summer.
  • .
  • Any news on when the new Pen is available for pre-order...it's still greyed out. Be a real shame if it's after the release of the device itself.
  • Can someone in here buy me the burgundy one : )
  • Don't know if this has been reported yet, but now you can get the maxed-out spec version in the other colors (burgandy, cobalt, and gold), but it looks like it's possible only in a Microsoft Store.  Got my pre-order all set.
  • Looks like the article got it wrong. The version with the highest storage only goes to 512GB, not 1 TB.
