  • Nice. I think this will make a good first smartphone for my mom.
I love this quote "Lumia is very much our smartphone brand" yet MS not Lumia is on the phone.
  • More details on the phone here   http://forums.windowscentral.com/windows-phone-8-1/322457-lumia-535-just-quitely-got-announced-5-two-5mp-cameras-front-back-new-post.html
  • No 1900mhz WCDMA? What!?!? Every Nokia WP Dual sim was missing this frequency, and now Microsoft continued the trend. Is the only option a Blu in a WP? Android has many dual sim models with that frequency. Why no love for the Americas?
  • No love for Americans? Don't be ridiculous... You get all the attention from MSFT which you simply do not deserve.
  • No Lumia had ever been released with dual-SIM and support for standard North American frequencies. We have to buy no-name brands for that in Canada, the U.S., and Central America.
  • Right!
  • Such an asshole comment
  • +535
  • We have no Microsoft stores here in the UK, you have loads....and you talk about no love?.
  • For 1900Mhz 3G band look for RM-1092 variant. It has all Americas 3G bands
  • RM-1092 is the Dual SIM with 3G 1900MHz band support
  • For all the Nay Sayers regarding the leaked specs from yesterday....suck it. You know who you are.
  • No need to put Microsoft logos on the front and back and no Lumia branding at all. Otherwise this device sounds pretty good.
  • Yeah, the Windows key is the logo... Though not a key this time around.
  • Windows logo not= Microsoft logo.
  • But this is Microsoft logo. I work in branding so I know that as a standard, multi coloured logos are only used when white is used as a background. When there are coloured backgrounds, usually it is a choice between white/black depending in the colour used in the background. You can compare this with any logo that you see.
  • I was meaning the Windows logo and the Microsoft logo are not the same thing. I wasn't referring to colours.
  • There is no branding for Lumia. There is no wordmark or logo. Nokias never had Lumia on them either.
  • Damn i miss my old lumia 800
  • Why is this such a big deal? No one complained that Nokia was plastered in the EXACT locations when it was a Nokia Lumia XXX.
  • Dont you think Microsoft in front And back with logo is too much?
  • Like he said - this is EXACTLY what Nokia did before.  My 1520 says Nokia in the front and back as well.
  • Its pretty good. And Microsoft brand has definitely better value. I can't imagine how my friend would be jealous if I ll show them this device, off course when I get it.
  • The Nokia logo was small, short and the way it was written just simply fit in a subtle way. The MS logo on the other hand, has the logo + text. It needs to be more subtle than that, there is no mention of MS on Surface. They could simply just use the Logo without the name ( and vice versa) and that would already be better but Nokias logo still had that rectangular straight edge all capitals form that simply worked better.
  • Should be the name at the front and just the logo on the back, just like on the Surface. Simple and pretty!
  • There's already the logo on capacitive button and since its an MS device, there isnt even a need for another MS branding on the front panel, just like surface; this could also work as a differentiator for them as well as to keep it "clean." Just a simple MS block logo or the name microsoft on the back should do ...buuut that's just my opinion.
  • Well get used to it. Give it a chance. No worse than a big ass Verizon logo.
  • When you think about it this way... Luckily the carriers don't mess with the product here in Brazil.
  • I think Microsoft should revise it logo to be fit and suit on mobile devices Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • I think MS should just rebrand itself as Nokia while they are at it, since they have been undergoing a complete makeover.... they will make headlines! ...i kid, i kid! While it's not THAT bad, I do agree with you, changes to the branding on their mobile devices would be more than welcome.
  • Hey... I'll see you next year, Microsoft. With a Windows 10 phone
  • I'm waiting for a flagship phone... Im tired to wait... We've had enough half-baked phones this year... How about a really good one?...
  • You do know that the 520 was the best selling WP ever right? By far...
  • Exactly. For a lot of people, low end works just fine.  Not everyone wants to fly drones with em.
  • Exactly!!!
  • Lol
  • yes, but there's no real choice with windows phone... You either get an old one or a brand new budget-friendly smartphone. No wonder why windows phone can't catch up...
  • With 1.5% of market share you have a big potential in selling both low and high end. Theyu can sell like 5-10-15 millions of Lumia 935 and the market won't be overpopulated.
  • Agree. My contract is up and I'm debating the HTC one or perhaps jump on the note 4. Of course id still keep my 1520 to get the best of both worlds.
  • Don't change phone for the sake of changing phones. Especially to another Lumia. The way everyone was talking after the Cortana news, you may need your upgrade for an Android or iPhone....
  • whats with the 930? its as powerful as any device in the market. screen amoled 1080 16:9...... i think this is perfect on a 5 in. camera 20 mp...... i have seen the experia z take pictures, the 930 shoot way better processor   SD800....... not the most powerful, but has all the bigboys gadgets, mothion, active listening and so on. memory is actually fine. 32gb are enough for a smartphone, although you have to keep sending things to the cloud every now and then. is there a device in the market that has better ratings in all areas? cuz thats when it becomes a higher end smartphone, otherwise it is just a alternative option. honestly im wating for denim, thats when the 930 becomes a real powerhourse.
  • No sd, no glance, battery life problems. 1520 is a better flagman, if only it had a 5.5" screen.
  • It has no battery life problems at all and it lasts long, 32 gb is decent and glance isnt for everyone(yes it would be nice to have the option but it doesnt affect performance of the phone, which is great) you have got so much going on with the 930, its unfortunate to dismiss it for something like glance....and last but not least the 930 is the 1520 in smaller casing.
  • No SD is a definite no for me. My 1520 has less than 3GB to spare out of 32GB. (Yes, I do have the 32GB version.) On top of that, with all my pics, music and videos I have 45GB on my SD card. We are talking about flagship phones. You don't gimp one with 32GB internal memory because that's "good enough" for some. They can buy the 930. I'll wait.
  • There wont be more Phones with Glance, because the Displaymanufracters do not longer produce Screens with displaymemory, cause no one, except MS needs it....
  • When you leave WP behind you also leave glance behind. Calling 'not having glance' as a reason why any one should jump ship to iOS or Android flagship phone is just stupid. SDcard could be a reason, but there are a lot flagship phones without an SDcard slot (all the iPhones for example) and 32G is enough for most people. Not having an SDcard slot could be a bummer, but should not be enough to not buy a 930 if you're realy in love with the WP OS.
  • Thank you Michael, couldnt have worded it better. They complain about stuff like glance and SD, yet ignore having such an amazing camera on such a great phone. Some forget that it's hard to get an overall great flagship with such an amazing camera, while features such as glance can be sacrificed by simply tapping the screen or a press of a button and while SD card would be great, we are still able to backup or find alternative methods, 32GB is a reasonable amount for the general user. In some ways, it's actually MS/Nokia's fault for not making this available yet in some countries as Im certain, anyone who tries it out and loves wp, will be able to ignore the lack of sd and glance and appreciate everything else that is great about this phone.
  • The 930 doesn't support all the North American frequencies, sadly.
  • 1520 is a WP god as of now. I don't care about the size. Grow a man wrist, do some exercises, take a vigorous bath, whatever it takes to man up your wrists, the phone is not a pain in the ass.
  • 930 is a simply an underrated phone, it is a great phone and beautiful to use as well. I just got mine few weeks ago (upgraded from 920) and Im simply loving it and like you said, with Denim, it's going to be a true powerhouse which also features Hey Cortana. The one problem though, is till this very day, MS/Nokia havent launched it in lots of countries which is putting ppl on the fence as to whether or not to upgrade to it, since there is bound to be an updated model on the horizon. That said, if ppl have still been happy to use the 920 till this day, then you really have everything to gain by upgrading to a 930, as it is much better phone and the camera is second only to, the 1020 but much faster at snapping shots.
  • No MicroSD = not a flagship = no buy
  • So every iPhone ever released is not a flagship phone? Hundreds of millions of iOS users beg the difference!
  • It is "beg to differ"...you are welcome.
  • iPhone is a flagship among iPhones. It doesn't "lack" microSD because none of them have microSD. The 930 lacks something even the crappiest, low-end models have.
  • Lol it doesnt have sd so its not a flagship? Lol, guess the iphones are simply feature phones and the fact that none of the other "flagships" have wireless charging, amazing camera, super sensitive touch, makes them not flagships either. Every flagship lacks something ppl want, get over it.
  • The 1520 has everything MS offers.
  • Entirely true buuut its size is also not for most ppl, which is where the 930 comes in with a classy aluminum chassis.
  • Phablet. Meh.
  • The reason why early adopters picked up WPs coming from iphones was due to lack of these features in iphones and  they wanted to try something else with those features.
  • ...and iPhones still lack features that we have on WP, nothing has changed.
  • As a very early WP adopter (I had the Samsung Taylor prototype) I have to disagree. WP had none of these things. Heck it didn't even have multitasking or copy/paste. I switched because of the amazing UI, Live Tiles and based on how different it was from iOS and Android.
  • @RobbCab you are indeed correct... I completely forgot about my WP 7.x devices, despite still having my lumia 800! Whenever i think of the beginning of WP, i tend to think of WP8 and the 920 (which is how i came to that conclusion in my previous comment), as i felt the it offered more than the iphone (in some ways it still does). Damnn WP7 feels ancient next to what we have now...great advancements MS!
  • You're comparing apples with oranges. New iPhones are flagships among iPhones. The thing is that the 920/925/930/1020 are all missing a fundamental feature available in ALL other models - from low-end to mid-range to phablets... They all have microSD but somehow the top-end flagships are missing that feature. A top-end model shouldn't lack ANYTHING that the low/mid models have
  • iPhones are not just flagships among iPhones, they are actually considered THE flagship devices among the average users, in fact to some the iPhone is the best existing device in the market. While you and i know they arent, that's unfortunately how it works and they are "look to" devices. Dont get me,wrong, you are right that the high-end flagship devices should also have SD-card BUT that reason does not make them non-flagship devices. My simple point is, every flagship from any of the competition, lacks a feature that should be there, therefore you cannot rule out these specific devices from being flagships or not good enough, because technically speaking, you can then say that about any of the flagships from competing brands. Why do the S5 and iPhone not have wireless charging? Why don't they have a 20mp cam? Why dont they have super sensitive touch screens (used with gloves), why dont they have surround recording? Why dont they also not have glance? Why doesnt the S5 have premium build quality like the 930 and iPhone? The answer is everything comes at a price and one way or another you will need to sacrifice something you love if you choose either one of these flagships...none of them are perfect, so enjoy each phone for the features they do have and excel at and hopefully in the near future your issue will be rectified.
  • I love the 930, but it IS NOT just as powerful as any phone on the market.
  • Camera is more powerful, it functions just as fast as any phone on the market (if not quicker), it has a full HD screen with super sensitive touch on amoled...but its not powerful enough? What exactly does it need to do for u, that it cant do in terms of power?
  • Huh it's specs are better than the iphone 6. Unless your spare time is spent benchmarking your phone it's humanly impossible to tell the difference in cpu performance of the snapdragon 800, 801, and 805. The 805 does get a bump on the GPU side but then again even the snapdragon 400 has no problem playing any of the games in the store. I still consider the 930 a solid flagship and a very underated device.
  • The lumia 930 and 1520 are both two of the highest-benchmarking phones on the entire market. You're an idiot.
  • Get a One M8, is it not a great phone?
  • I got used to the exclusive apps from Nokia. I'm waiting for a new flagship Lumia
  • I have a 925 and an 8X, the apps are overrated imo. There are good alternatives now. The only real advantage is Nokia camera
  • I used to like HTC, but they are just so slow with everything. App updates take forever (e.g. the compass is still backwards on my HD7 as they didn't account for Southern Hemisphere), and they take forever to release new phone models. We had the 8X for 1.5-2 years, and I can't even buy the One M8 (WP) in Australia yet... apparently they have NO plans to do so here, so as far as I'm concerned they've failed to support WP8 (they stopped caring after WM6) and not worth any future consideration.
  • I Don't like those round corners :\
  • Agreed.
  • Need sharp corners like the 520.
  • Yup exactly what I meant
  • I always find phones with sharp corners seem to suit WP better because the UI particularly  the startscreen is full of sharp corners.
  • I'm not sure why you're singling out Microsoft for this. They weren't labeled as Lumias when Nokia was releasing them, not does any other manufacturer omit their own name in favor of the model.
  • This somehow beats 730 mainly because o the lower price tag and good features !!! Bravo Microsoft !!
  • 730 have better rear camera with carl zeiss optic hence the little bit higher price.
  • Don't forget better processor and GPU
  • And also don't forget - HD Resolution with Clear black Display, NFC, Magnetometer, Sensor core (part of SoC), Glance screen & 730 looks more elegant , my opinion
  • These are nice features for the mid range, but to be honest I'm not sure if the general public will care as much, especially since the 730 is nearly double the cost of the 535. The features that the 535 are well balanced. I originally wanted the 730, but I can't get it in Canada unless I go through eBay for $450. So, I went for the 830 instead which was $400 off conteact. I'm currently feeling that the 830 wasn't worth it and now the 730 too. I always did feel that these two models were somewhat expensive for what they offered. I remember getting the Lumia 710 for $250 of contract when it was 1 month old.
It seems that MS is finally catching up spec to price ratio wise which is great. I always found it silly that Nokia was always a generation behind on specs. I know a lot of people say it doesn't matter since wp runs so well on lower hardware. However, if they did match specs for each class of phone, then it would spank the Android OS experience, give the perception of better value, and appease the spec nerds. Also you have to remember that the store for WP is much weaker than iOS and Android. To me this was a missed opportunity by MS and Nokia to capitalize for the longest time.
Before I could justify that because the integrated core apps aka HUBs worked very well in WP7 & 8, but now we no longer have that advantage in 8.1.
I hope MS can bring back HUB features through plugins in core apps in a similar fashion to the lock screen app
  • Wall
    Of
    Words
  • Lol
  • No Glance on the 73x.
  • Also don't forget OLED screen which definitely gives better stand by time for battery.
  • Alright, you nailed it. 730 is not near as lowly as this 535
  • I don't think so.730 has got much better 720*1280 display and gg3
  • But it's pentile OLED. Which sucks :I
  • It does?  Why?
  • Because it isn't really a 720p screen: it leaks 1/3 of the subpixels, and the pixels are not square, making it way less definite.
  • Seriously? Can  you prove 1/3 leakage of not square subpixels or are you disappointed that this isn't the budget phone you wanted?
  • No, try it first. It's as good as any RGB OLED display. And better. The screen ROCKS!
  • How can it be better if it leaks 33% of the subpixels of an RGB panel?
  • Nope Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Nothing beats my 730..nothing
  • 730 looks great.. Feels great on hand.. The hardware, cam is great than this phone.. Clear black display which 535 I think doesn't have.
  • I'd be all over the 730 if it wasn't pretty much a clone of the 920
  • Front facing Camera!
  • Snapdragon 200!! Hell ya!!
  • That was funny, sir!
  • This device confuses me about where it sits in the lineup... I guess it's for specific demographics..
  • Yes, it's very good to see them give up on trying to use ffc and flash as differentiators between low end and high end. You can't just take away things that people expect EVERY phone to have... very bad idea. I have been playing around with a 635 and it's a fantastic phone... feels faster than my 920 and 1020... but without ffc and flash it's a no-go right from the start for a lot of people. There's no reason to do that when the parts are so cheap.
  • Yes, no FFC and flash is kind of a big deal. Stupid decisions.
  • Yeah, I always was a bit annoyed by Nokia's decisions on features they decided to cut. No FFC or flash on lower ends which was standard on many low end androids at the time and no removable storage on the high end for a long time. I know Apple and many Nexus phones don't have removal storage, BUT high end Lumias were known for their great cameras and it seems like a dumb idea to leave out expandable storage when taking pictures eats up the space rapidly. Much easier to swap SDs instead of downloading to a device or cloud storage when on trips. Also Samsung always had SD storage on their Galaxies even if the design of their phones were a bit stale. I'm glad MS is balancing the feature set more.
  • Looks AWESOME! But I'm still waiting for a flagship from Microsoft...
  • I dont think thats ever coming :'(
  • https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/microsoft-lumia-940-specifications-leaked-rumor-10-11-2013/
  • I like these new night time announcements.  But wait, are you telling me no U.S.?  Man, China, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh get everything!
  • Nope he is saying sales start from given countries and to all
  • Somehow I feel happy to hear the announcement, I was getting very tired when I knew that ONLY people in US who could buy the Microsoft Band on its first market release. Or at least now you know how that feels.
  • If you would like to be the first to receive something that the US makes, we could send you a Tomahawk missile. Would that shut you up? :)
  • Lets clear something up, this is NOT a night time announcement of you live in one of the launch markets for this phone.
  • I know, that was supposed to be part of my humor....
  • America?
  • I¨m guessing no US and no EU. They don't want to anger carriers with dual SIM. Hope I'm wrong though.
  • lol, literally just sent in a tip. Good to see Windows Central already on top of this! :)
  • Do I know what to say?
  • I think no.
  • Not bad
  • Where is the Lumia name on the phone ? What was the point of keeping Lumia branding then ?!
  • This is my thought as well. The Xbox has the Xbox logo plastered all over it. The Surface has a giant "Surface" word mark on it. Logically this should have the Lumia name on it, not Microsoft.
  • They want to use the popularity of Lumia(Nokia)
  • The Nokia Lumia devices also lack Lumia branding.
  • after reading your comment I went to check my phone. Even after two years using three different lumias I never realised this.
  • Well the difference is Lumia was set up and made popular by Nokia.. Now MS is trying Lumia to make MS popular. So it has to be there. once of the places where MS is pasted could have been changed to Lumia. This is like just remove "Nokia" text and put "Microsoft".. very poor work though. it is in the same place as well..
  • Well I have a Nokia Lumia 630 but the word Lumia ain't no where on it you got the Nokia on top of screw and the Nokia down the back what's different now.just cuz its Microsoft and not nokia
  • They should put the Lumia logo on back where the MS logo is and on front put the number (5xx, 6xx etc.)
  • Pray tell us oh wise one what the hell this mysterious Lumia logo looks like on a phone.
  • Well - and I could be wrong here - but I guess it'd look like you know - the Lumia logo used on the websites etc... It's not like there isn't a Lumia logo, it's just not been used on the phones yet.
  • Exactly!! It should say Lumia across the front, or back.. Either, or.. That's ridiculous... Maybe they are saving Lumia for high end devices...
  • I'm telling you, Microsoft's branding methodology is incredible and... unpredictable!!! They come up with new names for their products right after the old ones begin good recognition from the crowd...
  • Yep.
  • whats with the late night announcements recently
  • It's day here
  • I'm just having my lunch here. :p
  • I'm in class now (India) :P
  • I'm playing halo here .. #1 on my xboxone!
  • Here watching television :D
  • I having sex with my gf ;)
  • You took a time out to write it? Wtf..she said.
  • Can't believe they gave up on high-end phones. :(
  • Like it or not the Lumia 930 is the current high end phone. Only released 6 months ago. Apple and Samsung release one a year ago so don't expect MS to release another high end phone any time soon. The 930 is an awesome phone and its what you should get if your looking for a new phone.
  • A 930 really isn't much of an upgrade from a 1520.
  • Its not meant to be.
  • 1520 is like the note series of samsung, while 930 is the mainstream flagship. 930 is still new but 1520 in my opinion needs an upgrade. I think microsoft will update their lineup of lumia phones once windows 10 is ready for primetime.
  • You are high as hell on crack my friend. Its ok, come back down here with us.
  • what?
  • I'm playing...if you understood my reference, you would chuckle. I say the 1520 needs no upgrade. Rather it needs some software upgrade. Example, pen support (sell pen separate in this case), BT stack updated and OTG support for controller and mouse, etc.
  • The 930 is the upgrade for 920 not 1520... -.-'
  • Nop, no glance.
  • 930 is downgraded version of 1520 which is +1.5 years old. Waiting for 1030 or 1530
  • The 1520 is only a year old.
  • So. My prick is many a year old but it still rips up gash. Why change if your tool is perfect.
  • L930 = Icon = more than 6 months ago.
  • The 930 is not even available in the US. So we don't even have the opportunity to like it or not.
  • I don't see why you think MS can't releae another high end phone. nothing you said makes any sense. the 930/Icon had a sucessor in the works. it is not as if they are starting now. my suspicion is that now that MS is in charge, they just want to wait for windows 10 to ship with new devices. not a good sign. maybe they are ready to do another reset of the platform and give wp 8 users the middle finger...again.
  • I'm guessing they are in kind of a Limbo now, with W10 coming, I bet they want to save some flagships for that release. Unfortunately W10 is likely still 6-8 months away. I guess they could release a "940" now'ish' and save the 1540 for W10, or the other way around seeing as there's no 1530 yet. Whatever they do, I hope they wait until SD810 is available and use that; WP needs to get on the latest and greatest for once, not 6 - 12 months behind.
  • Thay can announce new flagship now so it can actually start selling when WP10 comes. Otherwise there will be a year of waiting ( 8 month to wp10 release + 4 month to the shelves )
  • But they will release a flagship with WP10. To fill the gap they flooding market with mid-range devices. These recent devices will be upgradable to WP10.
  • Not just high end phone but Good promos too http://www.viralhum.com/preview.php?q=3637&q2=us
  • Just wait for 940 https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/microsoft-lumia-940-specifications-leaked-rumor-10-11-2013/
  • Now this is what should 530 should be, not much compromise! Nice entry-level phone :D
Btw where is the another phone that is being leaked?
  • I was wondering about that too.
  • Does this have Gorilla Glass 3 or even a lower variant? Also does this have Clear Black?
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3 - Yes
Clear Black DIsplay - AFAIK, No .. Since it wasn't mentioned in the specs list
  • Phew. The glass on the 520 sucks. In fact I doubt if it is glass. Sad to hear about absence of Clear Black. The polarizer costs just $3. Would have been great but alas.
  • The glass isn't that bad, I've dropped it, face down, many times. No scratches or cracks.. Then again, I'm not that rough user like my friend who has a horizontal crack right in the middle of the screen..
  • So the front camera is better than the back camera? Weird
  • why is it better? wide angle?
  • But... I don't want to buy a phone with "Microsoft" on it.
  • Then don't.
  • Are you seriously going to base a major purchase decision on the text printed on it? What about Samsung? Verizon's knack for sticking its logo places?
  • M gona buy it for Microsoft name.
  • Idiot...... The same people that first made the Lumia 800, 900, 710, 920, 925, etc, etc, are making these phones too. Why is something so simple, so hard for some of you tards to grasp? Sheeeeesh....!
  • Lol!!
  • Just scratch it off with a razor blade, or cover it with a piece of tape ;)
  • Black nail polish.
  • hey man its a very exclusive club. the low end phone of the low end OS in marketshare of the low end MS ecosystem. it's the rock bottom phone lol.
  • Dear god man, your right.
  • Why all this 11/11 talk, then they announce the phone on 11/10?
  • Yeah, this is weird. Is there not going to be an actual announcement? Well, it kind of makes sense for a low end phone like this.
  • Just makes me wonder if something else is coming tomorrow. None of these recent Lumia announcements matter much to the US.
  • It's 11/11 here
  • Well being that Microsoft is based in Redmond, WA, US I just kinda assumed they were talking about 11/11 in the US. Not 11/11 wherever you are.
  • 1. Its 11/11 in the countries where this phone is meant to be sold.
    2. Americans don't matter for MS these days :D
  • They probably meant for the users in Asia.. It's 11/11 here ;)
  • Its 11/11 in most of countries stop expecting everything for U.S first
  • Microsoft is based in the US... Lol
  • 11/11 here also...Eurpoe calling. ;)
  • *10/11 in the US. But mid-afternoon on 11/11 for me
  • 5" screen and a 5mp front facing camera for that price?! It will surely beat other L5xx and L630 L635.
  • I think for now the L5xx L6xx L7xx series are "complete".So I guess their next phones will be the successors of 1520 1320 or 1020
  • Agree
  • I'm not sure... this processor is pretty terrible, even for a low-end phone.
  • Well done Microsoft.... This will beat the market share streak of Lumia 520
  • Lumia 520 shall R.I.P
  • Even L630,530,525. No Ambient,Proxomity sensors,double tap to wake up on 630,530
  • Yeah. But it was a good windows phone 8 for it's price. Probably the first cheap wp8 device.
  • not sure. the 520 costs about a third. not sure this is worth that much.
  • What about India ?? :(
If this has GG3 then it will beat 520,530,630,635
  • It has GG3 but what price is it gonna have here in India?
  • 110euro means around 8500rs ... really good price.
  • Have you added tax and other duties?
  • Around 8,500 rupees
  • That price is without tax, so the price is between 9.5 k and 10k. That's a good price considering 630
  • This seems like a pretty decent device for Microsoft to start with in my opinion... Now I'm starting to regret getting the 635 (I sense an upgrade!)
  • i feel you dude :( me too......the only thing remains now is when someone saw my phone at the very first time, they thought it was an iphone,
  • I know. I just ordered a 635 over the weekend for my daughter. It's in the mail today, so too late to cancel.  :(
  • I will still recommend try your best to cancel it. 535 has Double Tap to wake up, proximity,Ambient sensors too and 1 Gig of RAM. OMG!! 630 is crying hard :'(
  • Now I'm really crying hard. Have to sell my Lumia 630 :( Actually I ran out of my patience. Now I'm regretting. Will you buy my L630. I'll give you in 7299rs :(
  • What makes you think that people would buy that for 7.3k when they can spend another 2k and get a 535????????
  • You still have the better display, better SoC, Sensor Core and LTE.
  • look at the specs on this phone and the outrageous price. you're fine.
  • I guess microsoft will not gonna make lower RAM device anymore and all their low entry device will have 1GB RAM from now on. Good move.
  • Great move
  • Now 2Gb Ram 540
  • I'm from the future. We have 20TB ram for the Lumia 59000, sadly we're still waiting for a flagship device... :P xD
  • Lol
  • Nice device, nice price. Can't be any better. But... A budget phone, with a display as large as the 930's, with a front-facing camera as good as the 730's, with everything better than the 630... So...? This isn't good for for those guys, especially those with a 630.
  • Makes them want to upgrade to Lumia 535.
  • Yeah, I guess so. *crying hard*
  • Shit!!! I made a mistake :(
  • Hey, 630/635 processor is better than the 535 one :) This is something you have to take into consideration.
  • Yeah, it's really confusing. Each step up, the phone should have all the specs (or better) of the lower phone plus a few extra and the phone up from that one should have all of that phone's specs (or better) and few more extras.  But instead it's kind of mix and match so it's real hard to compare.  :/
  • Its not a flagship, but a solid phone for the price point. *Golf Claps* for Microsoft.
  • This is just a little for what is coming.
  • Don't get my hopes up!
  • I really want to think it is.
  • so since this is a major letdown, looking forward to more.
  • auto hide nav bar? great.
    lumia 630? dead. :(
  • Yeah 630will surely die :)
  • Double tap to wake up, Ambient, Proximity Sensors on 535 . Feeling trolled :I
  • so this also means we can now get the nav bar feature in the coming weeks in the preview build?
  • Sad news, shouldn't even be an announcement when they release a low end phone, does this mean no new phone tomorrow
  • "Tomorrow" would be the 12th in the countries intended for the release.
  • While I wait for a new flagship phone from MS, I went ahead and bought a cyan flashing for my 920 and installed it this afternoon. It's almost like having a brand-new phone!
  • Too many low-end phones. Obviously, this time 530 won't be as successful as 520.
  • Lumia 520 the top low-end phone ever made.
  • Maybe. At least until the Moto E/G blew it out of the water.
  • Who cares about motoE/F/G!!! ;)
  • This would be a huge seller in the US.
  • Its the 10th I thought that was on the 11th??
  • I think they're announcing in another country.
  • Its already 11th in half the world
  • Ugh I just was watching the #halonightfall episode1 world premiere. They need to coordinate better with other departments!
  • What the hell Microsoft? 5mp front on L525 but only 1mp(0.9mp) on L830?!! This is not a justice :(
  • Hahaha..lol true
  • Well I guess you can blame "Nokia" for that......teehee
  • If you don't know than Microsoft bought Nokia..So it's now Microsoft's responsibility to hear my complaint :p
  • Sigh... another low/mid range device... Seriously Nokia/Microsoft, where's the 'wow' factor? Colourful shells just aren't enough to get the juices of Windows Phone fans flowing anymore. This phone is hardly any different to the 730/735. Release a flagship that has features that no other phone has, or even could have, that makes the world stand up and take notice. With an OS that runs almost identically between your devices no matter what the specs, you need to give us something fresh.
  • I think the 730/735 is a tad better than the 535 because: 720p screen, ClearBlack, better SoC S400, 1080p video recording, Carl Zeiss optics, Qi charging...
  • Yep and its not that very expensive for the specs. I got it for less than 200€ (230$) in India.
I find it worth the price.
  • Next please..1330..with better camera..
  • Well, there's no 1330, just a PS picture of 1320
  • Hmm.... Isn't this for the event?
  • This phone is going to beat 520 in sales. This is enough phone for 90% of folks. In a way, they are correcting a mistake that is 530. The 530 sales is not that great, it looks like. Afterall, people want affordable devices, but don't like to compromise too much for it.
  • Yeah the 530 was a bit of a Disappointment. The Lumia 520 was way better. Though this phone will probably top it
  • Awesome
  • Where are the navigation buttons?
  • On screen... And they auto-hide when not in use.
  • What the hell 5 inch device 5ffc 5mp rear camera with flash gorilla glass 3 and all the things under 9k...oh god it's too much my 525 will suicide after seeing this news...
  • Lol
  • Yeah same
  • This device is too good to be true. Will be the best seller. They just need to make enough of it.
  • What?...That's it
Tomorrow low low end Lumia 100?
  • No lumia 50 with 0,3 mp camera and 60 mb of both storage and ram
  • Haha okay
  • Not digging MS on the phone like that. Should've emphasized Lumia but that's a little too obvious for MS to do.
  • It always baffles me to see people to make this argument. To the best of my knowledge, Nokia has never once emphasized the word Lumia on their phone lineup. It doesn't make any sense for people to assume Microsoft (who is one of the largest consumer brands on the planet) shouldn't emphasize their name on the phone. idk, maybe I'm missing something here.
  • It didnt matter when it was Nokia cause 'Nokia' was written on it, a brand powerful enough...Lumia has been synchronous with Nokia for a while now and people would have easily understood what the Lumia brand stands for..
Right now, Microsoft looks like it came out of nowhere...it may serve them better if they have the Lumia brand atleast on one side of the phone...
  • Are you trying to suggest that Lumia is a more powerful and better long term brand than Microsoft?
  • Bah. Why make your intro phone in the US a cheapo device? Introduce the 1030 first, then let cheap phones bask in its glow. Devalues the whole line this way. (please let 1020 replacement device offer orange!)
  • This isn't for the US.
  • Front Logo Microsoft okay
Back Logo Microsoft again? Lumia logo on the back is better
  • What is Lumia logo by the way? How does it looks like? Cause I haven't see one since Nokia era.
  • Sorry meant to say that they should put the Lumia branding but with that font on the back instead of Microsoft logo again
  • Zzzzz. I guess this will do ok in Walmart for prepaid.
  • When will 535 will launch in India?
  • Yes that's a big question.it will be a big hit in Indian market.bring it fast MS. Around 8.5k in india is very much affordable. :) #golumia
  • I've always wondered.. In India can you find Windows Phone as if they were the same popularity as Android phones?
  • I don't live in India, but I do hope they manage to release this phone there (and everywhere else it's meant to be released) within a month or so.
  • Not Bad
  • And my 1520 has 1.x MP front-facing cam. Looking forward for a 1530 that has 8MP front-facing cam.
  • Me tooo! *shaking
  • 8mp front with pureview+led flash ;) +1530
  • iam looking forward for a 1530 front cam 10mp back cam 41mp or 60mb hope high end phone
  • FFC camera resolution should match screen resolution, and no more IMO. There are better ways to improve the cam than MP.
  • I like that big Lumia logo.
  • Where???
  • Isn't Microsoft pronounced "Lumia"?
  • Heheheh that got laughing for a while...yer funny bro..
  • This is a good oomph budget device! Can you imagine what MS has to offer with their first flagship device? Cant wait
  • samsung galaxy grand prime can now rest in peace! Bring in the Lumia 535 ads Microsoft!!
  • Grand prime is already RIP-ed by 730... :)
  • Looks surprisingly good. The MS logo on the back in the video looks much better than in the leaks.
  • They need to get rid of the Microsoft tag and just put a larger Windows logo.
  • So this is it for the whole #morelumia thing?
  • Yup. That's it! Kinda anticlimactic after all the, we bought Nokia hoopla.
  • The price tag impress me.
  • This is great, and I'm a Microsoft super fan. But, this I think should have been the 630/635. They should keep the 5 series as the ultra cheap at around $50 or so. To compete with Win Jr. But, oh well, I admit I don't know much about marketing or business in general.
  • Well done, just do a rollout almost as fast as the MSFT band rollout and capitalize on demand, instead of waiting until after christmas for all the carriers to fit it into their schedule.  I might pick up a few.
  • They need to bring this stateside, it can be a real game-changer for Microsoft.
  • My only nit pick would be double the memory to 16gb and it would almost ideal.
  • This device should be on every carrier IMO. This has everything that was missing on other lowend devices. Flash and front facing camera.
  • With the ability to store virually almost everything on an SD card, does the base storage really matter? I use to worry about that kind of thing pre-8.1 and use to swear by never buying a phone that was smaller than 32GB, but I recently picked up the 830 and haven't even thought about storage.
  • Decided.Next buy should be my best buy.So It's wise for me to go with windows 10 flagship.MS940 is what I can afford to Wait for 365 days more.I am saving every penny. This 535 can replace my NokiaLumia620 but I can't spend money that regularly.I will recommend it over 520,25,30,620,25,30 handsets anytime.Again in talk with my uncle for his shattered(gorilla3) Asus Zenfone 5.Anyone having advice on the impacts of 720p->qHd switch?I want him to go with Windows,he wants Nokia branded 5" in budget. Not much to choose then and hence android.Experience is nice n fluid but quality of materials used is very unsatisfactory. So no experiment further with money.Every glitter is not gold.
  • I am thinking it will be a good replacement for my Lumia 720 which is now more than an year old.
  • So they didn't do a "Oh... and one last thing..." and announce a 1530?
    :'(
  • The need to announce the 1030 first!
  • Wow
  • In my point of view this is good device in low range. After all MS has got rid of 512 Ray and the LED flash and 5 mp front camera is a good addition to the device. Device is complete with features and I m worry about battery it doesn't seem good against 5 inch screen. Does it will last a day? Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • Had same worry but I guess we'll have to wait on more info..maybe they have a battery case for this...if not I would still buy phone & extra battery
  • Great entry-level phone! Great job Microsoft! Is this a precursor of an upgrade for all Lumia lines?! If so, then give us now the 1530, 1330, 1030, 935!
  • Everythings are fantastic...but Processor? Oh God, isn't that the same 'quad core processor' which was used in Lumia 530 before. Oh MicroSoft, dual core processor of Lumia 520 is enough and awesome for this amazing low-end smartphone. We need atleast HD (720p) camcorder for this, but you just make it WVGA only( below Lumia 520).
  • I would buy 730 but this seems better,if it has a good price ofc
  • Go for the 730... the SoC of the 535 (S200) is not the fastest CPU around... so the 730 with the S400 and the 720p screen, ClearBlack and Carl Zeiss optics is a better option. The 535 is nice, but the 730 just wins.
  • Corning gorilla glass 3
  • Nice to see a cheap 1gb ram phone finally.
  • I wish my 830 had a 5mp front facing camera. BTW where's the high-end Lumia. Bring back the McLaren project...
  • I hope that every person asking for a flagship wp will buy. So microsft will be happy. I think microsoft strategy is ok, they intorduce first a lot of low end and midrange phone because theres a lot of market there. Unlike flagship/highend phone wherein most of the people already bought iphones and galaxy/note. They just build first customers that buy low/midrange phone and later on this solid customers where lately or in the future buy or change their phone to a flagship/highend one.
  • Specs are impressive at this price point
  • Wow great specs and good price
  • ips lcd screen means glance support ??? :) :) :) hope it has proximity sensors and double tap to wake...
  • It has everything except glance.
  • How do you know that?
  • People expecting high end phones from a company that has very little market share. Haha. Im pretty sure their plan is to build from the bottom going up. The 1520/930/icon are still valid flagship devices. I mean think about what devices they are selling the most to even stay relevant. All low end stuff. If they made only high end stuff, Microsoft would be out of the game. Just need patience. They'll get there.
  • Never under estimate the amount of money Microsoft has.. Ever.
  • Welp it's settled, if this is the only announcement then I am going to T-mobile to get the one when I get paid on Thursday. Next year I'll jump to the next high end MS phone.
  • Should go to AT&T they take care of their Windows phone users
  • Meh I love my unlimited data too much to goto AT&T.
  • Nice specs for the price actually. Didn't Expect that 5MP front camera.
  • yawn, another boring low-end device. at least they're bringing cyan back. If they ever release a new flagship, I hope it comes in cyan too.
  • Those boring low end devices are the main force of the market share of WP and gives more new users to the platform, and that's what WP need the most, in order to lure more developers.
  • That's great but I don't want a low end device. Sticking with the 1020 until the successor comes along
  • Priyanka Chopra!! India eyes on.
  • Why did Priyanka Chopra come here?
  • Haven't seen the promo video?
  • Wow... so bad, I just bought a 630 as a christmas gift for my sister o.O This will come to México?
  • So the question now is I they announced this tonight 11/10 what are the announcing tomorrow 11/11?!
  • The 1530,1330 and the 1030
  • They should at least put Lumia inside the phone. On the battery or something if they aren't going to put it out
  • Um.... what app is that music player at 0:29???
  • Where?
  • In the video
  • Mix radio.. It's the Play Me feature, that's why no prev song button, but I guess you already knew that so I'll just sit here..           *sits*
  • Sure looks like Mixradio to me...
  • I was wondering the same. It looks pretty, but if it is indeed MixRadio I'll pass.
  • Why? MixRadio is awesome!
  • $5 billion for this. Great investment.
  • Yep, this is the only phone they'll ever produce. From now on, there will no longer be a lineup from low cost to high cost. This will be the only phone, SO SAYS THEEFMAN, WHO SURELY ISN'T TRYING TO BE UNNECESSARILY B*TCHY TODAY.
  • What? Are you kidding? This is the first phone from them. Wait for more upcoming ones. What, do u expect them to release all the new phones today itself or what?
  • You mean "coming soon"? As usual, at the rate they're going WP won't be around long enough for them to recoup the purchase price.
  • Yep, they've already updated most of the lineup (530, now 535, 730, 735, and 830) in the PAST 4 MONTHS. Basically a phone per month is REALLY SLOW!!! They need to come out with 3 PHONES A DAY IF THEY WANT TO STAY COMPETITIVE. OH, BY THE WAY GUY, I'M NOT TRYING TO START AN ARGUMENT FOR NO REASON, I LEGITIMATELY BELIEVE THAT UPDATING HALF THE LINEUP IN 4 MONTHS IS SLOW, kbye
  • Congratulations
  • Well this I gonna be a real competitor for Moto g here in India
  • Moto G sucks. I still dont understand why people are with Android. I know there's an app gap, but all the major apps are there on WP right. I don't know still how many apps do people need. :/
  • Yes I know bt people here in India don't understand that n they will not until unless they try wrongdoers for already s month
  • Windows*
  • moto g was just advertising and marketing. the hardware of moto series isnt great. compared to htc and lumia. but can say moto is a good phone in android series to fight Samsung but moto lacks in after sales which Nokia and Samsung are way better.
  • I have a feeling this L535 will take the windowsphone world by storm just like its predecessor the L520, hopefully it will be able to slice some from the Android world as well.
  • Is this running on denim ?, that means 630 on denim will be able to hide on screen buttons ?
  • 5MP front-facing wide angley cam ... now you can take good pics of someone behind you.

  • While I struggle with thinking the $449 off-contract price of the Lumia 830 as "affordable," the 5 inch screen is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. This definately has my attention when it becomes available in the US.
  • What's the cost, is it $100, $129, $149, or $189?
  • I guess it to be slightly lesser than the 730..
  • Should be about $140 before taxes, but who knows. Might not come to US at all.
  • OMG... Yeah please focus all ressources on mid-low end devices and don't give a shit about flagships... Unless those are the new Microsoft flagships... This is so wrong... please tell me the event is not over or that there is another one coming tomorrow night... We definately got that M$ wants to take over India with affordable devices and services... so sad #noLumiaFlagship
  • Something else is going on. There is no way the 535 is the same device hinted at in the YouTube video posted this morning. The phone shape is different (squarer corners, rounder edges) and the quick view of the camera seemed different. Also, no way a set of headphones would be included with a low end device like the 535 and there was a third item that was not identifiable. All in all the vid hinted at a much higher end device hopefully for the US/Europe market.
  • Fingers crossed
  • A good competitor to the 730?
  • 730? No. 630? Maybe. 530? Blown!
  • Are we sure this phone runs Windows? After the Office and Cortana news... I'll bet the phones will soon be running Android - with Live Tile shell...
  • Lol, +520
  • +925
  • Joke of the year.
  • We all need to rebel against that Cortana bullshit that's about to go down. We as a community should show Microsoft we are or should be their primary audience.
  • They should have put LUMIA at the front and MICROSOFT at the back. No LUMIA name at all.. :/
  • This phone is enough to complete with lower end phone from other platforms.Good going Microsoft but now its time for a new flagship model.
  • This is a pretty decent phone for that price. Primary camera could have been 8mp. Imo this will compete against China's own Xiaomi Redmi with equivalent specs. All the best MS, now almost time for a 1030 please don't make us wait.
  • Why are people wondering about the "Lumia" branding on the phone. Does apple put iPhone on the phone? Or does Samsung put the galaxy name on the phone? Nope, I like it this way.
  • Yes they do
  • Apple puts iPhone branding on the back with a lot of small lettering.
  • Can't find Lumia on my Nokia Lumia 925.
  • +1
  • It's like the successor to the Lumia 625
  • what features are missing for the consequences as being a budget phone?
  • "good" processor, HD screen, "good" camera, camera button, capacitive keys to name a few
  • I'm sure everyone in Ghana will love it! How about some flagship phones for those of us with the desire to pay for them!?
  • Woov... Too good specs. I need it in India.
  • Lol too good for whom? For my dog I guess... Give me a truly high end phone...
  • Waiting on the flagship...
  • I just can't wait for the event tomorrow so all these people bitching about a new flagship can shut the fck up already
  • They have my money if you're right....
  • 530<630<535<730/735<830<930.
  • Now who would get the 530 at that price.
  • Waiting for windows 10
  • I think it is foolish that Microsoft has decided to remove the dedicated camera button from all "low end" Lumias.  Is it not bad enough that almost all 3rd party OEMs are not going to bother putting the dedicate camera button on any of their phones, because most of them will be using the same chassis for the Android devices?  But now Microsoft is only putting the button on select Lumia devices. Consider the Lumia line is the official Windows Phone brand devices, stuff like the dedicated camera button, should be a feature on all Lumia devices - no matter the price point. Just sayin.
  • By "select Lumia devices", I think you're referring to devices that have the PureView technology in them. While I understand what you're saying, it does make sense for MS to only focus on camera-specific features on phones with high-end camera features while cutting costs at the low end to stay competetive.
  • I think they should bring back the camera button to all levels of their phones, too. Two reasons: 1) Nokia did it before with the 520 and this model was more popular than the 530. 2) I feel going forward the Lumia line should act like the Surface/ Android Nexus lines which help set expectations for other OEMs (MS has the advantage here since they have complete control of their hardware lines, while Google uses other OEM partners).
  • Someone needs to explain to me why all the new Windows Phones (or to be Windows phones) are 5".  Will we ever have a decent phone with a camera botton that is a bit smaller?
  • I think not
  • Your sentence means- you will buy a 535 and then you will get rid of it by replacing it with a 520...sentence Structure messed up,geddit? :P
  • It doesn't have clear black display tech... But the Microsoft device page says it does have corning gorilla glass 3...
  • They should stop this selfie nonsense
  • Lets all go out and get a cheap WP and show it off to those iPhone 6 users!
  • Not sure if I like the stark black MS logo on the back (I feel like it stands out just a bit too much), but I'm not really the target audience anyway.
  • No us?
  • This would be have been better than the 530 that was released just a few months ago.
  • Very nice MS... Honestly! But... Now the world knows you are good at making shit phones, have a bash at a industry leading handset! Please.... ;)
  • Wow not bad. This is the perfect low end WP! MS finally learned!
  • so boring!
  • Is there any live stream?
  • Hopefully Microsoft will release something special soon, or ip6
  • Question is, will this run windows 10?
  • looks like my 635, but without 4g LTE  LOL.  I think id rather sacrifice front camera for it.
  • 635 doesn't have 1GB of RAM though.
  • *waits for the 835*
  • I got a phone for Russia, I got a phone for Brazil, I even got a phone that says No US please. I got a phone right here, I got a phone right there, I got a phone everywhere except the US of A. MAMBO No 535.
  • So.. If I bought a lumia 635 a few months ago, does that mean I got bumped ? :/
  • I know my brother did.
  • This is a realllly impressive low-end phone. Should be great in the Asian/Indian markets. Would love to have one as a back up phone in the States.
  • The only thing good about this is the fact that they brought back cyan.
  • Just remember 630 still has the same chipset of the affordable flagship n 730. So don't feel outdated (even if that chipset already is), keep that in mind.
  • This is shame ,I bought a 730 last week and microsoft released much low cost phone with almost same specs
  • That screenshot shows separate apps for Excel, Word and PowerPoint. I can't wait for Windows 10!
  • Is this the announcement was all about??? I'll wait for 24 more and if no other phone was announced I'll be forced to buy note 4. I'm sick of waiting. I hate Samsung and hate android but if MS keep producing cheap products then I no longer want to be support Lumia PS: Owner of Lumia 920 since day one of release
  • You can upgrade to Lumia 830 or 930.
  • If none of the US carriers want it, Microsoft should sell it unlocked at Microsoft stores and/or on Amazon/Best Buy/etc.
  • Nokia has nothing to with this phone? Can anyone tell me that all the products use in this mobile is from Microsoft? The battery. Camera. Etc...
  • Microsoft now owns what used to be the (Devices and Services division at Nokia), so technically, this phone is also a Nokia.
  • One more year Microsoft to prove this platform is viable with good specs, and if not, I'm out. No use investing in a platform that is treated as a 3rd class citizen by its creator.
  • Yeah
  • Here dies another dream for a flagship :/
  • Sad part is that they have to use almost one year old beta app in their commercial. :/ Device itself is nice though especially in that price range.
  • Amazing phone for the price....a worthy upgrade for Lumia 520 owners....
  • Wish the US version had a ffc
  • Flip sake. Logo is no big deal fellas.
The fact that there is no flagship is criminal Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • They should replace Microsoft with Lumia
  • They should just use the windows logo on the front only.
  • Bye Lumia 520 hi Lumia 535
  • This was supposed to be the 630
  • Yup
  • Yawn....
  • looks nice
  • Finally Microsoft has got everything together in one phone. This is a perfect mix of performance, RAM, internal memory, extendable memery, screen size and camera options. If it actually around 130 USD, the pricing woudl be just perfect too. Unfortunately for Microsoft it would cannibalize the 630 and 730 in a big way it will still be a positive for MS as it loks like a much better phone than Moto G and the likes and would come in at much lesser price. So it will go a long way in increasing the market share for Lumia phones. It is right time now for Microsoft to drop prices of 530, 630 and 730 in order to keep up theri sales numbers.
  • My brother a 635 owner not happy lol.
  • For everyone asking for high-end phones and complaining about the high amount of low/mid end phones, it quite clear that no high-end is coming out soon. so why don't we all just rock the 1520 for the time being? I have one and it's pretty cool. if we're gonna have to wait a year or so for a new one, might as well just stick to the best we have now.
  • Where do I get a 1520.3? Can't find any
  • what are the issues with the other variants? I'm in SE Asia, and I have one from Hong Kong. Guessing it's the 1520.3. Heats up a bit. but quick scrolling when web browsing can cook this phone. not sure if it's an issue with all or just my device.
  • Guess I'll keep using my 925 a little longer or jump ship.
  • how old is your 925?
  • Release date?
    Or when I got it?
I got it I think 5 months ago but had a 920 but I dropped it at work screen shattered I know unbelievable right?
  • that's a bummer. I got my 1520 early August, and I'm planning on keeping it till its last breath. How bad are low or mid end Lumias compared to Samsungs and iPhones to you? As I see it, people are saying the iPhone is rather lagging behind in terms of specs(if I'm not mistaken), so makes more sense to hold onto my 1520 as long as I can.
  • I don't know what else more I need from a WP device hardware perspective. The 1520 basically is a future proof device. I've never had any longer than this one. My 1520 will be with me until she runs out of juice.
  • I'm okay with this not coming to the states because if we're simply taking a poll from all the commenters, no one will buy it. We're all looking for that next flagship however given the pricepoint, this would be a great phone for my mom.
  • I don't mind getting this for my brothers here state side.
  • Cool low price device!
  • Wow. This is what I am talking about in terms of giving full features to a basic phones. All sensors, front facing camera, rear camera with flash, 1g ram and sd card support. Looks sleek. Nice start Microsoft.
  • I really feel it depends on what features the person wants in their phone. I believe that the Moto has passive voice activation, which can only be found on WPs with a snap dragon 800 or higher. Of course WP is smoother OS wise.
Though the irony is my Game app on my Lumia 710 opens much faster than my 830. The 710 has more games on it as my 830 is new, which seems to suggest reduced efficiency on 8.1 for the Games app
I do notice the resuming for the 830, while the 710 instantly animates into the game list.
  • Perfect low end device now all we need is world wide release. People please quit complaining about high end. You have choices. This is an excellent start by MS. If I were MS I would wait until W10 to announce any high end devices
  • It's all yours...
  • -_-'
  • Guess ill have to settle for the HTC. Sigh. Hope the camera is as nice as my 925 at least. Unless someone knows how to get the 1520.3 cheaply :) or how to get it at all
  • 1520 is the same price as the 830 off contract. Doesn't make sense! 830 $450 on att. 1520 about 470$ amazon.
  • Honestly I almost forgot I own a Lumia!!!!!!
  • Wow
  • Rumour says that it's price will be around ₹11,000 in India..
  • It still good.
  • Good phone with this price point
  • No it ll be around 8700₹
  • We must remember that in many countries, they are still using the old phones with buttons, so I think Microsoft tries to earn that big market share with their Windows Phones as Apple did with the i-phone but in the first world. I bet that the top officers in MS developed the Lumia 535 to replicate the succes of the Lumia 520.
  • This is a real successor of 520 and it has potential to become 520 in terms of sales too.
  • Wait so this is all we get? A 535? Or is there more to come?
  • Don't keep your hopes up.
  • What a piece of garbage situation. Microsoft keeps refreshing the low-end (if not downgrading it), while leaving the high-end stuff to wither. Why is it that we've had the Lumia 520, 525, 530, and now the 535, yet AT&T can't get a 930, let alone a 935/940?   Microsoft is seriously making me hate their hardware decisions so far. The 830 is a RELATIVE downgrade to the 820 (to how the 820 sat in the market), and that's their HIGH-END device. Why can't the early adopters get something good?
  • Will it be released in India"
  • So where is it releasing? I might get this!
  • This is unbelievable from Microsoft oh my god what a device at what a price.
  • In my opinion, a low-end phone with a 5 inch screen is incredibly stupid. Their product lines are overlapping and they're confusing the crap out of people. Keep it simple, Microsoft! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Na. Most People cant afford a 500€ Phone but want a big screen.
  • Most comments I've read here just go to show that WinCentral users are largely savvy phone users that want the latest and greatest. Quite interesting really, but we must realize we are a minority. These phones are targeted at people just starting out with smartphones, not willing or perhaps not even able to shell $700 for a phone. They just want something decent. Consider them advanced feature phones. Very different from guys looking at the 1520, 930, 830, M8 etc.
  • Nice device. With flash 5" display, 1Gb Ram and 5mp front camera and at €110, it has a great value for money. Let's hope that Microsoft continues this trend for future lumias. *applause*
  • This will sell like hell.
  • Wow 5 mp front cam for a budget phone
  • So everything is staying the same... More low budget phones and that idiotic numbering of the phones.
  • +1520
  • Idiotic? Hahhahahahaha
  • I don't understand the purpose of a mid range phone being the first "official" Microsoft branded phone. They should've went big for their first one in my opinion. But what do I know. I'm just a typical everyday fella.
  • This is a high end low end...will sell pretty good.....they have to distribute fast
  • I'm hoping for a 935 or 1525 soon. The US needs a 935, since the Icon is done and never left Verizon, the 930 isn't available, and the 830 just isn't cutting it. I need that Snapdragon 805 processor and MicroSD support for all upcoming flagships (or a 64 GB model). 1525 would be nice just to have an up-to-date phablet option. It could even have the metal framework to look different than the 1520.
  • omg this phone is freaking cheap!!!
  • Good balanced phone. This goes sell a lot maybe change my second phone L530 for this the bigger screen and the other specs make this good.
  • Great phone.. I'll definitely buy it .
  • this will sell well too. 1 gb ram enough for windows. good cam specs too.
  • 960 x 540 on 5". Shit just got real. Literally.
  • It would have been great if sensorcore is added in 535.
  • Nice ad ,nice phone, doesn't make sense you use Cortana in your ada anymore since you wanna give it to other OSes ,doesn't make sense one bit
  • Wow
  • Wow
  • Er, let's just say that I'm very disappointed. This is going to be a great sell of course, but I want a high end phone like many of us here. Why didn't they launch both a low end and a high end at once? They are changing their name so I think a high end now would be the perfect timing don't you think. Oh well, let's just continue our waiting.
  • It has an ambient light sensor!!! The 635 not having an ambient light sensor was the #1 reason I would not get one. I hope this comes to T-Mobile.
  • I would buy it for my mom if it is available in Indonesia , but she asks , is there a glance screen ?
  • What about glance screen? Haha
  • This wonderful! But... It almost defeat the L730? I think lumia 730 is defeated.. So how it show different each other? L730 only win on screen.. But that means nothing with the availability of L535
  • It has very low ppi ( only 220 ), lumia 520 has better ppi than it
  • It has very low ppi ( only 220 ) lumia 520 has better ppi than this
  • It's a 5 inch phone and for this it very low ppi ( 220 ) even 4 inch lumia 520 has 222 ppi
  • I hope it sells well , I hope the next big thing is coming after this
  • They could have kept 2 mp front and give s 400
  • Glance?
  • Glance available?
  • Dumb. First non-Nokia phone should have been a more memorable flagship. Microsoft is not making sense right now.
  • This marks the moment when Microsoft completely takes over Nokia.
  • Now thts what m talkin abt its abt time microsofts phases out the 4" screens
  • Still waiting for #MoreLumia!
  • Still waiting for #MoreLumia!
  • Still waiting for hashtagMoreLumia!
  • So much for the selfie phone... I hope the next flagship gets, at least, more than 2mp on the ffc. The One M8 has a 5mp, for Christ's sake; never mind the rear camera, though.
  • Wow, we never get anything "first" here in Bangladesh. That's really nice to hear. :)
  • I hope it comes to Brazil with a nice price tag on it. I've had a Lumia 920 for a while, but it's too heavy and awkward to hold for me. Maybe the 535 will be my next phone.
  • wait for it the previous model has better video than this even as the chip is perfectly capable for better video. seems MS artificially cripped the device. nothign gets customers to buy your product than when you artificially cripple it. go android.
  • It has peer to peer sharing. so what actually that means ???? is it wifi direct ? :O :)
  • India is among top 5 windows phone selling countries.
  • Hurray for the return of cyan!
  • 3g lol huge let down
  • Finally a phone that can compete with low end Androids, not having front camera on 520,525 was a big negative.

  • Great. Another low-end phone that is unlikely ever to be available in the US. Yawn.
  • Ok, I'll bite, I need a dual-sim unlocked variant for December!
  • What about U.S? Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • I'd love to see this in the States. A budget phone with a front-facing camera is a must for teens. My daughter is currently using the Blu Jr. but says the front-facing camera is worthless even for Snapchat, so it may as well not even be there. And of course she's a teen, so I'm not going to drop $500 on a higher-end phone which she'll abuse or lose.
  • Does Snapdragon 200 support miracast?
  • Good specs. Wish it was a 400 CPU, but other than that it looks great.
  • I hate the Microsoft branding but I have to say its a good phone.
  • This is why MS is going to fail with Lumia
    http://a.msn.com/r/2/AA7wWUW?a=1&m=EN-US
  • Sadly, no sensorcore
  • Hope this comes to the UK soon. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • When for India
  • Should have named it Lumia 555
  • Silly seeing people deterred by Microsoft name on Windows phone...we all knew it was gonna happen long ago plus some who crying for flagship phone will then cry that price to high so just chill
  • What's the thing with 5 inchers. I can't buy 4.3 to 4.5 inch premium phone. So I probably should go for mid ranger, and they are also going bigger and bigger!!!!!!!
  • Boring!
  • Common Microsoft.. Please a better promo for this http://www.viralhum.com/preview.php?q=3637&q2=us
  • I see your point. And killing of the unseen, yet supposed flagships just a few months back makes it more suspicious. But I don't think they'll do it *all* over again... Maybe just the low ram devices...
  • Think I'll be getting this. I'm not a heavy mobile user, but this phone DOES have most things I feel are missing from my 520. I just hope O2UK get it!
  • This looks like a nice, solid, low end device. 1GB RAM, SD slot, front and rear cams. Hopefully, this means no more 512MB phones from now on.
  • Excited to see that Cyan is in the mix with these colors. It's my favorite color for devices/accessories and I'd be saddened to see it go, which I thought Nokia was planning to do.
  • Looks like a toy
  • Is this phone meant to replace the 530 or be sold along side it? One of the more appealing things about the 530 is its smaller size so it would suck if the 535 became a permanent replacement. I also see that it introduces yet another non-standard resolution. That's going to be fun for developers.
  • 1 GB ram - Check Quad core processor - Check Flash - Check 5 MP front cam - Check SUPERB Price - Check Great price. This phone has the potential to beat Lumia 520's sales. Ticks every box including the ask for a cyan colour :)
  • This seems like a great phone! Better than the 630, even. Awesome job for the first smartphone out of Redmond.
  • Am I the only one around here who actually loves the MS branding?
  • Failed: 3G and specs are so 2012. I give up with Lumia and Windows Phone they officially fucking suck dick. ‼
  • Great!!!! Another piece of crap entry level phone....how many of these burners see we gonna get???
  • Oh so this isn't planned for a US release i am assuming (since it doesn't have any LTE or 4G option.) It kinda sucks cause its the only one that meets my minimum for a new phone that i could buy outright. Currently I like having a flash and a front facing camera (kinda optional still) and the closest cheapest device is basicaly the 830?
  • interesting. i was skeptical, but looking at the specs...if msft can make a phone of this quality, sell it off contract in the neighborhood of $100-125 (gotta be less that 150 after taxes and all, imo), and do some real marketing (i.e., not basically leave it up everyone else--have people going into bestbuy, for example, asking for the phone rather than relying on bestbuy to tell folks about the phone), i think they'll be able to move a lot of units and get windows phone into lots of hands. hell, make this an offer no one can refuse! throw in a year of unlimited skype and office and a terabyte of storage, and a three month xbox music pass. i don't even need any of that, but i'd pickup one of these as a backup with that kind of deal. make it such an incredible deal that you'd need to be dumb to walk away. just get the phones into homes....look at it as an investment in future success.
  • UK release in 2015?   Darn, suppose I'll get the 735 instead
  • so, is this the big event of 11/11/14, i thought there was more phones!!
  • Pathetic.  MS is just embarrassing itself.
  • 8gb, only 5MP camera? Not all that great.
  • Folks is it interesting that Microsoft's first name brand smartphone is a just above their great selling Nokia lumia 520 specs wise. I hope it will be sold in the USA.
It cost's 135 American dollars. you add a 64gig Micro SDXC card to it and you have a decent smartphone. BOY HSN could sell this at a very low price. I hope Verizon sells it but I think AT & T and others will get this one if it comes to the USA.
  • This a good, proper successor to the 520. Hopefully, it will garner the same sales numbers and increase WP market share.
  • Are there not a butt load of affordable WPs on the market already? Seem like there's a new affordable phone announced every week? But where is the next gen flagship phone that pushes the technology envelope? Where are those phones??
  • Was this the only announcement or are there other announcements to come today or this week? I'm still looking for that 1020 successor. I hope it doesn't get massive though. I just want the 1030 to be the similar upgrade the 930 was to the 920.
  • Windows phone: now for only poor people, where is the flagship. No reason to get a windows phone anymore
  • Could not be any lamer.  My interest in the platform is lagging more than my pokey, slow, stuttering 1020.
  • Looks like a very solid entry-level phone. Only thing that bugs me is the huge screen combined with that lousy resolution. Come on, 220ppi? Make the screen smaller and keep the res or make it at least WXGA at the same screen size to get the ppi up to 300-ish.
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon supports video capture and playback upto 720p, https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/200 Why does Microsoft limit it to 480p on Lumia 535? Even my Nokia X2 with dual core S 200 supports Video capture upto 720p. Why then? Are WPs unable to realise the full potential of the hardware?
  • P Let me tell you guys ..There are many people ho are using Lumia phones in India...And India is a 2 nd biggest market in World..as per your record...There are so many lumians and so many people wants to become lumians...Kindly release Microsoft Lumia 535 release in India imediately...
