Microsoft says Windows OEM revenue was strong this quarter thanks to continue demand in the commercial PC market, which has a higher revenue per license. Specifically, Windows Commercial products and cloud services revenue grew 14 percent, thanks to Microsoft 365.

Here's the rundown on Microsoft's "More Personal Computing" revenue results:

  • Windows OEM revenue increased 11%
  • Windows Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 14%
  • Xbox content and services revenue increased 4%
  • Search and news advertising revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs increased 23%
  • Surface revenue increased 13%

Last quarter, Microsoft anticipated growth for Windows OEM and Surface in the low to mid teens, and it appears to have met those predictions. Microsoft will outline what it expects to achieve in its next quarter later today during its quarterly earnings call with CEO Satya Nadella.

  • Microsoft is doing a great job in the Surface division. I love my Surface Duo 2 and Surface Pro 8.
  • Surface Pro 8 is a freaking amazing device.
  • This is a great example of the strength of the WinTel ecosystem. This ecosystem dates to the 1980s. Now we have the iOS and Android ecosystem. Combing the Cloud lead by AWS and Azure, I think we can see how the US and its development of the information ecosystems will drive human activities for a century or more.
  • Excellent point. It really is amazing.
  • Seems to suggest those "Windows 11 is slow to grow" posts are moot.. 13% growth in s competitive market like hardware and OSs is huge
