Shopping on the web just got a little more hands‑off. Microsoft has expanded Copilot Checkout, its built‑in shopping and payment flow, to more than 500,000 merchants. The feature now works inside the Copilot mobile app in the United States.

Copilot Checkout allows you to make purchases online without having to leave Copilot. For example, you could ask the AI tool about decorating your home. Copilot would respond to questions, ask follow-ups to help find the best options, and then show you items that you're likely to want.

Microsoft also launched customer loyalty experiences within Copilot. These allow retailers to provide customers using Copilot Checkout exclusive discounts, free shipping, and other perks. Target is one of the first retailers to use customer loyalty experiences in Copilot.

In the same blog post announcing the expansion of Copilot Checkout, Microsoft discussed the evolution of agentic commerce.

"Right now, your customers are operating across three eras of the web at once. "Help me find it"—the human web of tabs, searches, and comparison sites is still how most of your traffic arrives today. "Help me choose"—the growing LLM web is where AI synthesizes options, but the human still acts. And "Do it for me"—the emerging agentic web of tomorrow will be where an agent finds, evaluates, and completes the transaction on someone's behalf."

Online shopping is evolving into an experience centered around AI and AI-powered tools. Copilot Checkout and other agentic experiences should streamline shopping.
