New firmware updates rolling out to Surface Book and Surface Pro
The updates bring a small handful of stability fixes to the two Surface devices.

Both the original Surface Book and the new Surface Pro are getting some fresh firmware updates today. These are the first set of Surface updates to roll out since January's Spectre and Meltdown fixes, and while none of the updates are quite as major, they do brings system stability improvements.
Here's a look at what's new (opens in new tab) for Surface Book:
- Surface Embedded Controller Firmware - Firmware - 90.2098.256.0 improves system stability.
- Surface Integration – System device - 1.1.339.1 improves battery stability.
As for the Surface Pro, the Microsoft is actually rolling out two updates, each of which brings the same set of stability fixes, but varies in version number based on whether you're using the standard Surface Pro or Surface Pro with LTE Advanced. Here's what's new (opens in new tab):
- Surface Pro LTE Advanced (Model 1807): Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware - 233.2102.1.0 improves system stability.
- Surface Pro (Model 1796): Surface System Aggregator Firmware – Firmware - 233.2099.256.0 improves system stability.
If you own the Surface Book or Surface Pro, these updates should be rolling out or available now via Windows Update.

Which Surface Pro is this firmware for?

SP4 still using March 2017 iGPU drivers. What amazing support Microsoft ...
-
Many of the SP4 drivers aren't even compliant with the Fall Creators Edition of W10. This is really crazy; I bought the Surface expecting that MS would at least keep their own device updated. One thing you can do is grab the drivers for SP(2017) and extract them using msiexec. Display, network and bluetooth are all newer and seem to work well.

They still release drivers and firmware for the Surface Pro 3. Just be patience and you'll get some more updates.

need some battery life improvements for Surface Book

They've also released a Surface Dock update for people using the original Surface Book and Surface Book 2. Hopefully it will fix the issues.
