The new Surface Pro 2017 is Microsoft's Surface vision finally actualized (video)

Microsoft's latest revision of its Surface Pro line is finally here, with a new device simply named "Surface Pro." Ditching the numbered branding and gaining some significant refinements, the device may simply be the best revision of the 2-in-1 tablet to date. Our executive editor, Daniel Rubino, has wrapped up his final impressions in an in-depth video review.

While this iteration of the device doesn't introduce any ground-breaking changes, the Surface Pro is now in its finest form. Looking past the hardware refresh, the device now sports a 165-degree kickstand, sleeker edges and other hardware improvements for a much more streamlined experience. Other tweaks, including notable progress in both battery life and cooling, further separate this device from its predecessors. New accessories are also available, consisting of an Alcantara-lined Type Cover and more responsive pen.

For a full breakdown of the Surface Pro's new features, make sure to check out the full written review available on our site. As always, make sure to let us know what you think of the refreshed device in the comments section.

  • I'm not sure this was asked before - but I didn't see any reference to this yet: Any news about a new Surface Studio coming up soon? I really want to see if (and what) MS will improve on it.
  • I feel like we might see a Studio 2 and a SB 2 this fall, but that's purely my feelings and not based on anything factual. :)
  • I suppose MS will adhere to the new numbering convention, and the new Surface Studio will be called Surface Studio 2017...
  • Doubt it. Just came out late last yr in limited quantities, and was just recently released to other markets. Most likely SB2 later this yr. SS2 next yr perhaps.
  • Setting up my new i5/8GB(fanless)....waiting for active links to XOX pre-orders!!!!!
  • 13.5 hours battery life claimed by Microsoft how much it correct, it's going that life as claimed by Microsoft?
  • This or Surface Book or Surface Laptop?
  • Surface pro 2017
  • No usb type C, Not good. No thunderbolt, not good.
  • maybe I'm crazy but I would never hang anything off my Surface except a memory stick or the Surface Hub
  • @Daniel will the Surface Pro work with my SP3 dock?
  • Since there is an enhancement in the SP screen to reduce pen latency, will I see the difference with a SP4 pen or it's a combination of both?
  • Daniel still wearing windows phone 8 t-shirt. hahaha just loving it TBH.
  • I think the surface pro "5" is a dream come true. With the upcoming fall creators update and cshell it might also have a much awaited improvement with the tablet experience. I hope Matt and Daniel can answer these. 1. What battery life are you getting in real world use? I've seen two YouTube semi-in-depth reviews mentioned close to 11-12 hours, but not specify under which type of real world use. I would like to hear your experiences on this matter. 2. Are you going to review the core i5 fanless model (personally I think this is going to be the most interesting spec model)? 3. What is your experience with the surface dial on the new surface pro?  4. what do you use your surface dial for on the new surface pro? 5. Any news if the LTE version will support both LTE and WiFi? 6. Does sleep mode also work well in battery saving mode? 7. Zac recently reviewed the surface laptop. He mentioned an interesting feature where he could listen to music on his headphones with the laptop in sleep mode. Can the new surface pro do this too? 8. Follow-up to question 7. Can the new surface pro also play music in the background from its speakers in sleep mode? 9. How does game mode perform on the new surface pro?   A couple of things I missed from the review
  • I just want to know if I can adapt the surface pro 5 stylus to my surface pro 4
  • A great device I wish I could afford. But I stay with my SP4 - For now :)
