Ubisoft has unveiled MUTE Protocol, its latest limited-time event headed to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. The game's mid-season modes make a return through a cyberpunk lens, bringing robot-on-robot multiplayer shoot-outs, with a handful of unique gameplay twists. That includes a neon-lined revamp to the existing Tower map, serving as its stage for digital espionage, and cross-map teleportation.

MUTE Protocol makes its arrival on August 4 through August 17, with what Ubisoft describes as a "high-tech take on Siege combat." The mode retains the usual attacker-and-defender structure, building upon the existing Secure Area game mode with a thematic twist. With our favorite Operators swapped out for robots, players can transform their bodies into drones and cameras, teleporting across the map.

The mode introduces yet another fresh spin on Rainbow Six Siege's tactical gameplay, as showcased through its brief teaser trailer preluding its launch. The video shows the new "morphing" feature in action, allowing players to travel through surveillance for quick cross-map traversal. The new Tower map, familiar in layout, also looks straight from Blade Runner with its neon lights and reflective surfaces.

While the MUTE Protocol mode contains a majority of the full Rainbow Six roster, Ubisoft also looks to introduce a new wave of paid cosmetic skins. Robot-themed outfits for Jackal, Lion, and Ying join the attack, with equal treatment for Kapkan, Mira, Mute, Oryx, and Vigil on defense. While dressed has bionic soldiers by default, players can also purchase those skins to keep, through the MUTE Protocol Collection Packs, using the game's premium currency, R6 Credits.

Rainbow Six Siege MUTE Protocol drops on August 4, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, expanding upon its Operation Steel Wave update.
