Sea of Thieves is a first-person adventure game from Rare. You can go on solo adventures or team up with others to find loot. Today, the game is getting the Ashen Winds update that adds a flamethrower skull and other changes to hit registration and accessibility. You can take a look at the developer diary below which details a lot of the content.
The flamethrower skull should change up Sea of Thieves dramatically. This is the first weapon we have that can deal massive amounts of damage in a very targeted way. Using cannons with special cannonballs is a little hard, but opening the skull and pointing it at enemy players or ships is easy. Some of the other changes are detailed in the tweet from Rare.

I am a little afraid of the unbalance this might make for single player or two player slooping... But let's see what happens

I'm scared to jump back in after being gone for so long. So much has been added.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how this works balance wise because that seems kinda op, but I guess it depends on the mechanics of the skull and how it functions. Honestly the best thing about Sea of Thieves was that it was always an even playing field, the only thing that differentiated players was their skill level. But with the addition of things like wraith shots in the last update and now possibly this it creates a divide between new players and seasoned players which Sea of Thieves never had, but we will see.
