Surface devices get fresh firmware for Windows 10 May 2019 update

What you need to know

  • A new round of firmware updates is available for Microsoft's Surface devices.
  • The updates are only available specifically for those running the Windows 10 May 2019 Update.
  • Several Surface devices, including Surface Pro 6 (opens in new tab) and Surface Laptop 2 (opens in new tab), are included.

Microsoft this week is pushing out a fresh set of firmware updates for a number of its Surface devices. The updates are only available for devices running the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, which hasn't been released as of this writing, but the updates are set and ready to go once you've installed the upcoming feature update (via Windows Blog Italia).

Here's a look at some of what's new.

Surface Book 2

  • My bet is on the 28th. You know Microsoft always has to wait until the last minute.
  • Yeah, I guess it makes sense. At least it's close.
  • I just think it odd that a firmware update would be specific to a version of the OS.
  • "has pushed" (per the article) would lead me to believe that it's already out there. Yet it's not showing up for me.
