What you need to know

  • InXile Entertainment has released a new developer diary for Wasteland 3.
  • This developer diary shows off how the character creator system works.
  • Wasteland 3 is set to release on August 28, 2020.

Wasteland 3 is on the way and ahead of the game's release, the developers at InXile Entertainment have begun a new series of developer diaries, showing off different aspects of the game. The first of these developer diaries is all about the character creator, alongside some tips and tricks on how best to customize your squad.

Part of this character creation system is the use of Quirks. These are powerful bonuses you can take that also incur dangerous penalties. For example, if you take the "Blunderer" Quirk, you'll do 15% more melee damage but you'll also have a 50% lower critical chance. There's also the more standard attributes to play around with, such as Strength. You can check out the full developer diary below.

After being delayed out of May due to the studio switching to a work-from-home setup given the ongoing pandemic, Wasteland 3 is currently slated to arrive on August 28, 2020 on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. It'll also launch directly into Xbox Game Pass. For more on Wasteland 3, you can check out a preview of the game from our senior Xbox editor Jez Corden.
