Windows 10 preview build 14986 heads out to Slow ring Insiders on PC

Slow ring Windows Insiders are in for a treat, as Windows 10 preview build 14986 is now headed out to the Slow ring for PC. Originally released to the Fast ring last week, this is a relatively short turnaround for build the build to make its way to the Slow ring.

Windows Insider chief Dona Sarkar announced the build's rollout on Twitter. There's an absolute truckload of new features and fixes in this build, including big Cortana improvements, inking enhancements and much, much more. For a full rundown, you can check out our original announcement post for the Fast ring release.

In any case, if you're on the Slow ring Insider track for PC, you should be able to pull down build 14986 now. Once you've had some time to check out all of what's new, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!

  • Waiting for this on mobile...
  • Since this never came to fast ring on mobile, I doubt it's coming to slow ring on it. ;)
  • I've been at my laptop clicking Check for updates for the last 20 minutes.
I want to get off of 14965 so badly...
  • Next up. A new mobile build that will install without issue on the 650.
  • Totally agree. I can deal with every issue they throw with the Fast ring - as some are more or less likely expected - but they cannot come up with a build that 650 users can even INSTALL, How lame is that?
  • I went back to Release Preview on my 650. Couldn't stand the slowness at times, then the update issue happened. If I can't help test a new build, might as well enjoy my phone again.
  • Mobile update without 0x80070057 error. Im stuck @ 14946
  • I cant even get my fast ring computer to update to that build lol
  • Same here i'm on fast ring stuck on build 14965 havent got the last 3 new builds 14971 14977 14986
  • I've had more reboots and dead batteries notices that ever before on my 1520 on the latest fast ring for mobile ☹ anyone else have this problem?
  • No 1520 user but hard rest fix bugs that may have came over from the last build
  • Not seeing it yet here in UK
  • I'm on fast ring and can't get this build
  • Is that update by UUP?
  • Fake article, there's no update.
  • Hi! Here in France, we have the (10.0.14393.576) build for phones for the release preview ring and production.
  • I'm wondering why MS releases this for slow ring even a lot of fast ring users are unable to download it. I spent hours and tried every suggested workaround but I'm still not able to install this release.
  • Maybe a fix for those on fast ring still we have been waiting for an installation fix, and not the one already mentioned
  • For the moment, insider in slow ring, my pc dont found the update.
  • I have problems installing this build on fast ring and switch to slow ring. So it will stop to keep downloading and installing and then revert back to old build. How do I skip this build?
  • Not showing this update. I'm in fast ring.
  • Not showing the update , want to get rid of those bugs making 5-6 apps auto open every now and then
  • click on the maximize button when the app that keeps opening is open and it takes care of that
  • I just move from Android to Iphone 7. And one thing I received is apple update very very fast. They just make the IOS 10.2 delivered to customer and they provide 10.2.1 build on next day. Microsoft must study it from Apple.
  • and we dont care
  • Hii...can anybody suggest a memory card for lumia 550 for smooth gaming....need 32gb?????
  • Walk into the store and buy one.
  • I guess this build is on the "Extremely Slow Ring" since I cannot get it to download on my Dell Venue 8 Pro.  In addition it would not download when I had the tablet set to fast ring. I tried all the troubleshooting suggestions to no avail.
  • Yep same for me, I seem stuck on 14965 no matter what I do
  • After all the things I've tried before, I uninstalled (removed) Bitdefender completely (not only disabled), ran the troubleshooter again, and tried to update. To my surprise the update to 14986 worked immediately, and I'm now on 14986!
  • Nice, so this time you didn't do anything and it worked? Still nothing for me, done all the sfc and dism checks. I had it on fast for about a week and it didn't pick up anything, now been on slow a good 3 days and still nothing beyond 14965
