Windows Phone Photography
One of the key features of our Windows Phone is the camera. From days gone by of the 16mp camera on the HTC Titan II to the current crop of optically stabilized Pureview cameras on the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520, these cameras help us capture the moments of our lives.
Sure it may sound corny but these cameras help capture memories of special events, of your children growing up or of the sights you see as you travel. Here you will find a collection of articles and reviews that focus on our Windows Phone cameras.
Windows Central Roundup: My Top Windows Phone Photography Apps
For those new to Windows Phone it will not take long to discover that there is an abundance of photography apps available in the Windows Phone Store. Some will argue that there is an overabundance of photography apps in the Store.
Luckily, most of the titles in the Windows Phone Store are capable photography apps. For those new to Windows Phone, it may be tough to figure out where to start building your photo app collection. This week's roundup highlights a small group of apps that I think any Windows Phone shutterbug should have installed on their Windows Phone. They aren't the only game in town but for me, they are at the top of the list.
If you asked me to describe the TouchRetouch app in one word, I'd say it's magical. We've covered this photo editing app a few months ago, but it's worth a second look. It's also a universal app, so that means you can buy it once, and then download it both on your Windows and Windows Phone devices. What does it do? It lets you remove unwanted objects like smudges or people out of the picture. Want to see it in action? Watch our hands-on video on the Surface Pro 3 and the Lumia 930.
You've probably added filters to your images before sharing online. Masks, an image editor we've covered before, is another tool you should check out to prettify your photos. It has just been updated to version 2.0. Even though many elements still look the same, it has been completely rewritten for speed and more feature functionality. Haven't tried it yet? Don't worry; we've got a hands-on video for you.
Windows Central App Roundup: Top Rated Windows Phone camera apps
This week's Windows Central roundup is going to take on a slightly different twist. We want to know what your favorite Windows Phone camera alternative is. The native Windows Phone camera app is a capable camera app but we also have several equally capable alternatives in the Windows Phone Store. We will highlight some of the more popular choices and at the end of the roundup, we have a reader's poll to see what you guys and gals think.
These are Windows Phone photography apps that are camera apps first and editors second. We aren't including apps that are focused on photo-editing (even though you can launch a camera app from within) such as Photoshop Express, Fhotoroom, Fantasia Painter, Black and others. All are fine titles in the Windows Phone Store but we are looking at apps that can replace the native Windows Phone camera app.
