Cats are social, but they get bored pretty quickly when you're at your desk, so they entertain themselves by sitting on your keyboard, attacking cables, or slapping your monitor.

Thankfully, there are several Cyber Monday PC accessory deals you can use to cat-proof your laptop or desktop, such as the see-through keyboard cover I just bought for myself. It usually sells for $54.99, but it's $49.99 at Amazon right now.

I actually just bought this for myself and have been using it for the last two days. The clear plastic allows me to still see the keys I'm typing on, but makes it so my cats don't lie on the keyboard. It even has an optional backing I can install if I want to close off the keyboard on the backside. Cats love heat, so you can typically entice them to a specific area if you give them a warm place. Full disclosure, I don't own this exact heated pad, but I do have a different one that is no longer available, and I use it regularly when my cats are fighting over a specific cat bed. — Rebecca Spear, Gaming Editor

Make kitty happy and keep your computer free

I have three cats, and I've fostered dozens of others. One thing I've learned over the years is that cats often don't mean to annoy you when you're working at your desk or playing PC games; they just want to be near you because they love you.

Thing is, they have no idea why you're sitting there staring at a glowing screen, so they find ways to entertain themselves, which often gets them into trouble.

My black cat, Sabrina, frequently attacks the cursor on the monitor. My grey tabby, Misty, chews on cables. And my white cat, Dandy, loves to lie down on the keyboard. After some trial and error, I've found ways to keep them from disrupting my office hours and gaming sessions.

One of the most helpful things you can do is give your cat a dedicated space next to you. And I don't mean on the floor; Cats like higher places, and they want to be near your face, so most will keep jumping on the desk rather than sitting in a bed on the floor next to you.

Now, if your cat keeps going after the various wires extending from your laptop, monitor, desktop, or PC accessories, then you should seriously consider some cable management tools to tidy things up. This can keep these tempting wires out of reach.
