#CESlive sneak preview video: Check out what's coming to Vegas!

Last week we announced our partnership with Geek Beat and the rest of the Mobile Nations crew to cover the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. CES is known as the largest electronics event in the world and it happens every year in Vegas. Also every year, we cover it as individual sites but this time around we’re going big.

Check out the preview video with Cali Lewis and John P. of Geek Beat along with Kevin Michaluk, Phil Nickinson, Rene Ritchie and myself as we talk ourselves into doing this huge, crazy project.

Daniel Rubino is the Editor-in-chief of Windows Central, head reviewer, podcast co-host, and analyst. He has been covering Microsoft since 2007 when this site was called WMExperts (and later Windows Phone Central). His interests include Windows, laptops, next-gen computing, and for some reason, watches. Before all this tech stuff, he worked on a Ph.D. in linguistics, watched people sleep (for medical purposes!), and ran the projectors at movie theaters because it was fun.

  • As Microsoft is coming back, maybe we'll see some new surface devices, like the mini, maybe the phone?
  • We might
  • Just give me the 929
  • Don't worry, it's coming even before CES. ;)
  • Maybe that surface watch they spoke of a while back?
  • Surface with LTE support, it is said by Microsoft that it would come somewhere begin 2014, CES seems perfect, perhaps a sneak-peak on Windows Phone 8.1 and Winodows 8.1 Update 1
  • I need nothing except girl sitting on right side !!! ;):P:D
  • Hoping to see more high end Windows 8 tablets with 64 bit support. I believe OEMs are waiting for Windows 8 64 bit support for Bay trail.
  • My best guess on why the baytrail tablets come with 32bit windows is that 64bit windows takes up more hard drive space. Every GB matters when you want to sell 32GB devices.
  • That does not mean there should be no 64 bit tablets.
That's why i said high end which will come with high res displays, 4gb RAM, 64gb or more storage.
  • Sorry I should have been clearer. What I meant to say was that I think the OEMs themselves decided on 32bit windows in order to sell devices with smaller space. I don't think it would be an issue of windows 8 itself not supporting 64bit specifically for baytrail. Could be wrong I guess.
  • I would love to see WP 8.1 out there.
  • If I upgrade to the L1520, then they will announce a 8.1 phone @5.0" that is perfect for me. If I don't upgrade, they won't announce crap and I will have waited for nada. Sigh..... I need a beer....
  • I was thinking the same thing and I just got the L1520. I have to save this is the best phone I have ever owned.
  • Sneak peek of 8.1 would be great.
  • I'm not expecting anything new WP-related on CES. Sneak peaks of 8.1? Maybe. But I think that'll be all left for MWC a month later.
If Microsoft shows anything new, my guess is it will be Surface-related and nothing else.
  • Agreed
  • I thought Daniel would already know the release date of Lumia 929, and he is saying it might be announced in CES?
  • Anyone expect any new W8.1 hybrids at CES? Trying to decide if I should get a Surface Pro 2 or Yoga 2 or wait a month. Think i won't wait, even if something is announed, probably won't even be released for a while.
  • Looking forward to Lenovos stuff, like the new Thinkpad Carbon.
