3 excellent desk lamps with USB charging

Desk lamps have been around for decades, and now there are even more sleek and unique designs thanks to the advancement in LED lighting. Requiring less power and space, manufacturers have been able to reduce the footprint of lamps, depending on design, and add in some interesting features — including USB charging ports.

There's no real best choice when it comes to selecting a lamp with USB chargers for your desk, as your tastes will differ from someone else's. I have rounded up a few options that have USB charging and would look great next to your bed or desktop PC.

TaoTronics DL13

TaoTronics DL13

This LED lamp ($29.99) by TaoTronics is the best seller in the desk lamp category of products on Amazon. It's also highly reviewed by owners, scoring four and a half stars with nearly 4,000 ratings. It's a modern-looking lamp with LED lighting and a single USB port, located on the rear of the main arm.

The easy-to-use touch buttons on the base of the unit allow the adjustment of brightness and light color. A total of five color modes and seven brightness levels are present. The design itself fits right in with most settings and is available in both black and white variants. Finally, a 20-month included warranty provides peace of mind. At $30, it's not cheap, but it is well worth the money.

TW Lighting IVY-40WT

TW Lighting IVY-40WT

This lamp makes full use of LED technology and offers a USB pass-through for charging devices. The port on the TW Lighting IVY-40WT (from $11.99) is located on the side of the base unit, while controls for the lamp itself can be located on the front.

While the price doesn't necessarily make one assume it'll be a worthy purchase that will endure use, ratings on Amazon tell a different story. This lamp is also available in black, blue, green, pink, purple, and white.

Brightech Grace

Brightech Grace

A more contemporary option is the Grace by Brightech (around $33), which fits right in with more industrial or vintage decor. While powered by LED lighting, the shade surrounding the light makes it look like a traditional lamp that relies on incandescent bulbs. What sets this lamp apart from older lighting is the inclusion of a more modern feature: a USB port.

The lamp comes in classic black or brown, the latter costing a further $2. And there's a full three-year warranty included.
