Fortnite Edition purple Xbox One S leaks online

What you need to know

  • A purple Fortnite Xbox One S leaked.
  • It's unclear when the device will launch.
  • Expect more news closer to E3 2019.

Updated June 3, 2019: Microsoft officially confirmed the purple Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition on Xbox Wire (opens in new tab).

Fortnite is an incredibly popular third-person shooter which has become a cultural phenomenon over the past few years. While Microsoft and Epic Games have partnered together for an Xbox One S which comes bundled with Fortnite content, you can't classify it as a "special edition" by any stretch of the imagination. Luckily, that's about to change very soon.

Recently, an image appeared online — which is quite blurry unfortunately — of a purple Fortnite-themed Xbox One S. The console is rather striking because the purple is a bold look. First teased by Brad Sams, the device is a rare departure for Microsoft. We also confirmed its existence when we revealed the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition's name a few months ago.

The images appear to have been leaked by WinFuture.

As you can hopefully see, the Fortnite Edition purple Xbox One S sports a striking black-to-grape gradient that makes it unique among currently-available consoles. The Xbox One S has only been released in white beforehand, with the gradient effect being limited to special editions Xbox One X units.

Keep in mind that this is a regular Xbox One S, and not the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. It has a disc drive. We can also confirm that this product is real, with more information expected between now and E3 2019. Are you interested in the console? Let us know.

  • I have absolutely no use for the game, but the console looks pretty sweet. I might just buy it and give out the game.
  • Hey cool, so they almost have an Xbox design for every game available now.
