What you need to know

  • Sabine Schmitz, a legendary racer known as the Queen of the Nürburgring, recently passed away.
  • To pay tribute to her memory, Forza Motorsport 7 has introduced a new Rivals event that players can participate in.
  • Get behind the wheel of a Ford Transit SuperSportVan and race around the Nordschleife track, an homage to a Top Gear moment.

Today, Forza Motorsport 7 lovingly pays tribute to an absolute legend behind the wheel, Sabine Schmitz. Known as the Queen of the Nürburgring by car fanatics, Sabine Schmitz was the first woman to win the infamous 24 Hours Race at the Nürburgring, made regular appearances on Top Gear, and overall was a beloved high-profile driver. Starting today, players can honor her memory by participating in a new Rivals event in Forza Motorsport 7.

The Rivals event has players get behind the wheel of a Ford Transit SuperSportVan and race around the Nordschleife track. This particular Rivals event is a throwback to when Sabine Schmitz jokingly criticized the then-Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson for his time around the same track in a Jaguar, and claimed she could beat that time in a van. She then proceeded to absolutely crush Jeremy Clarkson's time when racing around the track in the exact same car he used.

Forza Motorsport 7 is hands-down one of the best racing games for Xbox, and it's great to see the title honor such a legendary driver. If you haven't played Forza Motorsport 7 yet, it's included in Xbox Game Pass.
