This ambitious fantasy adventure RPG is already changing based on player feedback — Here’s what’s new in Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss might need to be careful with how fast they're responding to feedback. We might become too accustomed to it.

Crimson Desert has only been out for three days, and it’s already taken the internet by storm. From chilling tales of heroic deeds, adorable armored kitties, and breathtaking landscapes, to reports of bugs, clunky controls, and storage issues.

Yes! The most requested feature Crimson Desert gamers have been asking for is here, within days of launch. Personal storage has come to the game in two places:

“Added the Private Storage that can be used to store items from your Inventory. The Private Storage is located at the initial temporary lodgings in Hernand and at the Howling Hill Camp.”

The storage being used is the same storage that previously held your camp rewards. It still does, but now you can also move items into the box, too. Looks like I can finally start stacking armor sets.

Next up, Pearl Abyss has been listening very closely, as they’ve already rolled out Keyboard and mouse control adjustments. They’ve also made jumping commands more responsive!

  • Controls overhaul: Overall faster and more responsive controls like camera turning and jumping, faster UI, center-screen aiming, improved equipment quick slots, and more.
  • Abyss Nexuses added: More fast travel points have been added to the map.
  • Reduced health and attack of specific enemies/bosses: These include early game bosses, an increased parry stun gauge, and less stamina consumption from blocking.
  • Easier resource gathering: Trees now take fewer hits, and ores, grindstones, and more will become highlighted on the map when walking near them without having to use them.
  • Increased health from food: They’ve now more than doubled the health given by food items. From 30 to 70!
  • Knowledge & skill system eased: Reduced acquisition time; skill observation required only once; Force Palm learned much earlier; icons/tooltips showing total knowledge acquired — Speeds up slow/ opaque early progression that many players called grindy or unclear.
  • Improved gameplay systems: Pet patterns have been fixed for picking up items, lantern detection range has been increased, and more.
  • Better performance: 120Hz toggle support has been added to both Xbox and PlayStation.

Plenty of other changes have been made, like a permanent fire fixture near a certain tower during the game’s opening quests (that thing was not easy to light).

It’s late where I’m at, but I’m already busy checking out all the patch notes for myself and can tell you without a doubt, the game I gave a 4.5/5 days ago is better than ever!

Changes made fast

Nobody expected Pearl Abyss to drop a patch this massive so early into the game’s lifecycle. It’s Sunday night where I’m at, but it’s already Monday morning in South Korea. Given the timing, it’s pretty safe to say someone over at that studio spent their weekend grinding away so we could have these features this fast.

I’ve been gaming long enough to know this isn’t normal. Big games don’t usually move this fast. I need to be careful, or I’ll start expecting this from every developer, and that’s a dangerous place to be.

To the team at Pearl Abyss, I genuinely respect the hustle. I just hope these changes came from a place of passion and not from people being pushed past their limits to hit a number on a spreadsheet.

And to the players out there, trust me when I say you have no idea how good you have it with personal storage. Some of you may be pretty deep in the game, but I doubt many of you are sitting at 80 hours like I am.

Once you start collecting multiple armor sets and weapons, a 100-slot inventory starts feeling laughably small. That dream of picking up every flower and ore you walk past? Yeah, that dies pretty quickly.

How do you feel about the changes coming to Crimson Desert? What should Pearl Abyss prioritize next? Let me know in the comments below! Cheers to anyone who says more horse armor.
