2026 is going to be a rough year to find an affordable laptop, largely thanks to RAM shortages causing prices for laptops and PCs to rise across the board.

However, there will always be discounts to help soften the blow for people looking for reliable workflow laptops, like this 22% bargain for the Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch that has slashed its steep $899.99 MSRP down to $699.99 at Amazon.

Why buy this 2-in-1 laptop?

When it comes to the best Windows on ARM Laptops, the Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch is, in our opinion, the one with the best value, especially when it's on sale.

One of its biggest strengths is its high-performance power when running Microsoft Office apps and internet browsers, thanks to being outfitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor (with 8 Cores) and 16GB of RAM.

It can run these programs with ease and without building too much or draining too much battery life in a short time.

Another major highlight of the Surface Pro 12-inch is its touchscreen display.

It can render images in extremely detailed 2196x1464 resolutions, enabling smooth scrolling with its high refresh rate of 90Hz, and allows Slim Pens (sold separately) to be compatible with the touchscreen to help users draw digital art or write notes down more naturally compared to using a mouse and keyboard.

On top of that, the Surface Pro 12-inch features a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS to enhance its performance during AI-related operations with Copilot+, a thin, weightless design that makes it easy to store in travel luggage, and a responsive keyboard that types letters and commands with no latency.

While it has muted color gamuts and 16-hour battery life are sticking points, they are minor quibbles compared to the Surface Pro 12-inch's biggest drawback of having a heavy asking price of $899.99.

Though the Surface Pro 12-inch's biggest bugbear has been largely mitigated for a short time, thanks to this 22% discount that has reduced its price to a more affordable $699.99 at Amazon.

With the ongoing RAM Crisis hiking the prices of laptops and PCs for the foreseeable future, this could be your last chance to own one of our favorite laptops of 2025 before it becomes too unaffordable for most people's wallets to handle.

Amazon also has deals for the 256GB version of the Surface Pro 12-inch for $599.99 (was $799.99) and alternate color schemes of the 512GB version for:
